wow. look who knows nothing of the car. reading the script. the seats are made by Recaro. The rims are made by Enkei. I live at high altitude. Your 0-100 time is wrong. my Swift sport is unmodified. I have gone to 225km/h using a GPS. That car has nothing. I have turn indicators on the mirrors. the sport embroidering is supposed to be on a carbon fiber material on the seats. the seats don't need a wheel. the fog light is one switch. it is massive inside for the size. I am 6foot 4. I have tons of headroom and leg room. There is a reading light. There is a window lock on the front door. The engine in first gear revs just before 7000rpm. after goes to 7200rpm. Middle mirror is fine. The steering wheel is thick grip unlike a Ford fiesta and VW polo giving better grip. the steering is pretty heavy and responsive giving Maximum control. Nurburgring uses this car and reviewed it as one of the best cars ever. they have done over 100000km of hard driving and not one has ever broken it's engine or mechanics. it is a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine. it costs less than any respective competitor and has more features. it is faster than any other car in this price point. try find any other car that cost that much that has no road noise or shit handling and costs that little.
Daniel Bekker 225 km/h? That's crazy fast! Did you drive on a flat road and no wind? My Swift Exclusive with 94 hp make 172 km/h under those circumstances. It's supposed to do 165 km/h. I really want a Sport but I don't know if you can put a towbar on it, because I have a small caravan, and the sport seats are a little too narrow for me.
Typical German efficiency and thoroughness. I intend to upgrade to this model eventually. It's interesting to see what improvements have been made compared to the previous older model (2006). I find that road trips uncover the faults - here in Australia the roads aren't as good. I love my Sport, around town it's okay, can take four adults on short trips eg transporting drunk family members home safely. At freeway speeds it's quite noisey, probably due to the lack of sound insulation. I have to turn the radio up quite loud to overcome this. I feel very safe, my Sport is stuffed with safety features such as 8 airbags and stability control. The boot is small, fine for 1 person. The seats are supportive. I like the leather steering wheel and audio controls on the steering wheel. It's a warm hatch, which is less likely to kill me than a hot hatch. Fuel economy improves with freeway driving, around town it worsens. Das ist gemutlich ja ?
Jan, your English doesn't suck at all, really! I'm a teacher so I know what I'm saying here :-) P.S. Wasn't there a company renting these Swifts out on the Nordschleife? Must be quite a potent and capable car then!
i found the chairs pretty hard, so i bought 2 pieces of foam, what you also use for chairs, 60cm long 50cm wide and 4cm thick and put these under a the sheepskins i bought, and you have really a nice comfortable chair, also on long trips, plus you are sitting a bit higher, and for older people it is easier to enter and leave the car. So maybe a nice tip for other drivers. My car is a 1.5 instead of a 1.6, but the top speed of 185km/h is comparing with the `1.6 is minimal. I use in avarage fuel consumption 1:17. I must say that this consumption is upto 130km/h, when you drive faster you will see that the consumption is growing higher. At top speed it uses 8.3 liters on 100km.
Great review! I enjoyed the humor too. I think it would have been great if you showed the engine bay too. I guess it doesn't add a lot of information but I guess it would have been great to see it.
Very thorough review, however would have like to see you throw it round come twisty roads, as that is clearly what it was built for! Shame that it couldn't have been tested on its oem wheels and tires this can change its dynamics a lot. Great review and you English is easier to understand than many English people!
I'm collecting my five-door Sport on Monday morning, so I found your review informative and enjoyable. I think your English is pretty good, too! It's good to know about the sound system. I'm no audiophile per se, but I like music to have a decent sound dynamic.
Why do you, like many others, hold the right hand on the shift lever instead of holding both hands on the steering wheel while drivning? Besides the security aspect you worn out the linkage much faster. And at traffic stops you should never hold the clutch pedal pressed down for such a long time. It causes much unnecessary stress and wore on the clutch. Go to neutral and let go of the clutch pedal. Very nice car btw.
It does. It's under the boot floor cover. In some markets/country it's the same alloy mags as the one the car is running on and in others it's just a steel rimmed doughnut spare.
I'v bought it like second hand cheap car and it's a true city car - sparky , cool and durable and i use it to go work every day and enjoy to drive it . Parking its maybe easy for young for older like me prefer to have on car like this parking sensors like a must, a big close and thick A pilar its a problem in short narrow curves , all the other problems are minor / the original parts are not cheap to buy - but it's a suzuki - you dont need to raplace them too often my consumption its arround 8.9 but i live on the hill with a lot of quick corners . If you are aware of pros and cons and agree with litle trunk and all stuff it can be a good choice for you ! I have two cars and the other i need for long trips ...
