if you're strictly into the sound, then yes n/a is the best. but I, personally, am not where a turbo can easily make up for displacement and plus the sound of an active BOV can make anyone get rock hard in the matter of seconds.

I agree but cars today are all about performance and a manual R8 V10 plus wouldnt be in the same level of a huracan with launch control and super fast shifting manufacturers are not going to lose performance because some people want manual cars and either way not to many people are gonna buy a manual supercar and its moving with the times its a new era and a new age semit auto with the double clutch does it way faster than anyone else and its better for the engine and it saves more fuel

One of my favorite cars out there. When I first saw photos of this new model, I was happy that the slide blade was split - it was one thing that annoyed me on the old one. Also, with the face-lift and other exterior changes to the air vents etc front and rear, it looks more handsome. Of course, I'd take any R8 if I could. Always exciting to see one on the road. That color is something else!

Yeah, I test drove both the v8 and 2014 Super 6. Actually, I really loved them both! Totally different beasts. But the v8 rumble won me over. I do like some features of the newer model more though. Like the wheels.

Think the outgoing model was better looking. This new angular version darn near looks like a larger TT. If given the choice, I'd take the newer v10 plus mechanical bits and interior with the older body style.

I have always loved this car...My buddies and I were in Silverton Co., summer of 06 or 07, driving down the road and parked at a small store, Circle K type store, there was a model in a white body suite and a Silver car with no badging. We pulled over out of curiosity and the car was full of computers, wires etc and engineers all around. Turned out to be an original A8 doing altitude testing and taking video with the lovely lady. The Audi guys were super cool and happy to talk about the car..

I'm an Audi technician and I can't wait to PDI this car! Pre-Delivery Inspection. we need to put 10 miles on the car for each PDI ;) I used to be an Acura Technician and the NSX was amazing. the S7 and S4 are fun too!

I think it sounds fine, and pre-driving one I can only say from jays normal, commentary to this one, its checked all the boxes, and in doing so has become kind of numb. take the new 510/idx: he said its was fanstastic and its not even drivable car. in the video jays smiles and talks...hes excited. I think he is impressed with how audi have solved the problems but somehow only comes away with n/a engines and does not specifically mention the one his in. jay does not care about disengaged cylinders by the look on his face. ADD: I feel like, its two guys: one just got married and the other one is being nice and saying halfheartedly she's pretty and how great she is.

Id like to see the dyno sheet on this car. The way it accelerates looks like it has no torque down low and only 600 hp for about a half a second before it red lines. I NEED A FAT TORQUE SPREAD IN MY LIFE. TORQUE OR GTFO.

+Freimopp777 R8 is all they have but it still cant out perform an M5. Im talking about a 2000-2003 style M5 not all this turbo bs that Audi is known for. BMW yes has twin turbo but back in 2000 the M5 was naturally aspirated and will still take the R8. Remember the M5 is 4 door sedan an R8 is mostly carbon fiber. But will still lose against the M5

Sss All R8 are nautural aspiriated. I dont know where you get the numbers but the E39 M5 you mentioned is significantly slower. In every year the M5 got more performance, so how should this work when already the newest M5 cant keep up? And yes the R8 with 420hp V8 engine was a little disappointment in performance, it was not the fastest but against E39 M5 it is still enough to win . The R8 with the V10 are much better.

I think it's the best looking exotic on the road today. It's certainly the best looking of all the R8's. I don't like awd, but one drive in this nearly converted me. It feels rwd, even in launch mode. The performance is breathtaking. The interior is very comfortable as well.

so, the sound of that engine as they begin the road test - Oh my God!! that was music. and I actually laughed out loud with giddy delight when they went up the ramp and just crushed the film car. i know it's not a race, but the ease with which that Audi moves ... awesome. thirdly, i love that Jay is an unrepentant speeder. Go Jay!!

+Lone Ranger Look, when you're driving on the road, or on a twisty road, you don't care if the DSG shifts 452 milliseconds faster than you do. You care about the delight of having a good shifter, the clink of the gate and the pleasure of shifting it yourself. If you like numbers, good for you. But I'll gladly trade a few milliseconds for a stick.

+kirbyswarp Agreed. DSG is novel for a while and easy in town in auto mode, I guess but I much prefer manuals. My brother has had a 335d, an S3 and a GTi, all with semi auto and both the 335d and S3 broke on him... Expensive.

+MrMike25896 People aren't 'deriding' them (they're awesome), they are merely bemoaning the fact that manual isn't even an option anymore and the excuse the manufacturers give is "performance" as if people who want manuals care about the instant shift. It would at least be nice if they admitted the reason they stopped making them is because there is no money in it.

The original r8 looks so much better. They messed up big time on the design of the body. The back half is cool but the front grille area looks horrible.

+Rottensteam I actually like what they did with the rear and the new side vent piece but the front grille is hideous imo. I don't mind though because I plan on getting the original one anyway lol.

First, that car sounds and looks beautiful. Second, i like that guy from audi. You dont get many guys who answer questions quickly and clearly and dont bullshit their car. Loved it
