The Giulia easily outperforms the M4 REGARDLESS of whatever problems you think it has, This is an established fact and it's not up for debate. The C63s is also faster than the M4, and the Cadillac ATS-V beats the M4 every time they're put head to head against each other. Except it isn't, as proven by recorded lap times, and it's not as good "everyday" as most of the other cars in its class either.
Crazy money when you look at what you get over the Competition. Good car no doubt, but honestly I think this just highlights how disappointing the stock M4 is. The stock M4 should be a much better car...

When the m4 came out nobody bitched a dam thing about it. Now these "experts" saying o the original was crap comp is soooo much better. The avg m4 owmer wont track it and wont push it to its limit even if they do track it. That accounts for like 1% of buyers that actually will try and do that. The car is id say a lil dissapointing with steering feel(avg person wontnotice it) and the sound is prr crappy.
My 2015 M4 cost me around 54,336 (in British Pound Currency) with 425HP, so to me is way too much the difference between the two. I rather step-up mine to about the same 454HP, which will require less money in doing so. If I had that kind of money to spend it on a car, I would probably get something way much better than an M4 CS...
The peak power bump is a small part of the whole package. It was a package that really cured all of the short comings of the standard car. I do agree that in a better world with time to properly engineer and develops the car it should have be closer to this from the gate than the version that was offered.
The car as a whole is way better and definitely worth the price hike to those that can afford it. Second hand will be the time to buy in 3 yrs after new
The M4 should have been as good as the CS is to begin with. How much better could this $90k CS be than the M4? well that just says how much BMW slacked off to begin with.
Here in the states the price difference between an m4 and a comp pack one is so small you'd be a moron to buy a normal m4. I've seen more comp pack m4s going for less than the normal m4 because of the ridiculous options. Really surprised they didn't discontinue the normal model

I don't really get it, the competition pack is only £3K more than a standard M4, but the CS is £30K extra? Anyway, who cares as i pick up my CP in two weeks. I bet BMW don't sell many standard M4's these days as the CP is noticeably faster, better handling and more comfortable

I have a 2019 cp and traded in my rs5. Great in dry but rs5 so much better in all other conditions. Would I revert to rs5, no way, m4cp so much more fun even if it can be a bit lazry!
Very good review. Good to see a car that does what it says on the tin: Clubsport, slightly compromised every day, fantastic B road blaster and far better on the odd track day.
Not worth it. Get a comp pack M4 add the MPE and the MPHAS or any exhaust and suspension set up of your choice and you've got a more practical and equally as compliant M4 for 30k less!
Strengthoftenmen it's true, bmw seem to have far too many cars in their line-up now. this cs is just another in-house tune up. which like you said, you can probably do for alot cheaper with aftermarket parts which do as good of a job?
Alex Martinez that’s not necessarily true. As long as you keep the mods tasteful and with only OEM parts, should keep value the same or increase a little (if you’re selling to another enthusiast). I bought a 2016 M3 Comp and changed the 666M wheels on it to the lighter weight 763M wheels you get on these CS’s. One guy even came up to me in a parking lot thinking mine was a CS for a second lmao.
Andrew Smith EVO is primarily a magazine (from Dennis Publishing). The RU-vid channel is just a bit on the side. Drivetribe is not a replacement for EVO.
When Bovington and Catchpole went to Drivetribe that basically left one main video presenter: Dickie Meaden. So the drop in their output is pretty understandable.
And how are you going to service it? It costs a fortune to service the gt3. Not to mention the fuel consumption and the fact that the new car comes with warranty.
Fuel consumption won't be drastically different in the M4 considering the official figures are BS. Noone in their right mind would by a GT3 without Porsche warranty. Servicing certainly more than BMW but not by as much as you'd think. Bit of a silly comparison given the price difference but in a couple years time the BMW will have plummeted in value compared to the GT3. I'd take a Carrera S over the M4.
A 997.2 GT3 ? No way ! Save your money and go for an E92 M3, strip it out and put some good suspension and brakes... We could go on forever, stop comparing used and new cars. If you buy this you obviously are not shopping for a used car wtf...
Lars Tofastrud BINGO! People really believe the only measure of a car is peak HP when it is not nearly the most important. The CS is a different car and resale will always show this as these cars will hold value well compared to the standard. It is crappy considering the M4 is an expensive car stock and there should be no poop versions of an M car offered. M should be the top and the more developed cars later on should just become the EVO versions offered in the place of the standard, NOT along side. Just my opinion though.
How important is and what is the "ULTIMATE" driving experience? Most people need to consider cost, if you don't you would not buy a BMW M4!(720S,488GTB,CHIRON!!!) Nice car, I would like one but would buy a 911 instead at that price!
Dan you started the video asking whether this is the best M4 for the money and ended with this is the M4 to buy....but you left out if it was a better bargain than the M4 competition.....so what's your verdict on that?
in korea bmw m4 cs price over 120K. considering all of about this car,it's worth. i was so surprised cheaper than my country.. if i was lived in your country,i would bought m4 right away.
For 89K it has to be at least as good as a 991 C2S with the PDK and PASM.... so no, no way in hell can it ever justify that price tag. Only way to make an M4 worth that much would be to give the 4.4 V8 from the old GTS an encore (with properly specced bearings)
future62 The bearings of the s65B44 were fine. In fact that was pretty much a perfect engine. It was only the s54 that had a bearing issue and even then it was caused by a manufacturer issue not design. It was only present in the first gen e46 and for only 3000ish cars.
I think this car is better than a 991 C2S if you want a track car and something you can haul young kids in. C2S just doesn’t have a big enough bag seat. I had a C4S and then GT-R and now a regular M4. This will be my next car.
I don't think you understand the purpose of the M4 CS. You would like the CS to be more like the M4 GTS- a track ready M4, *without being uncompromising*. Meanwhile, I think, BMW intended the car to be more track ready while compromising on the comfort of a regular M4. Hence, the hood from the GTS, the carbon splitter, the fatter steering wheel, the seats and lightweight door stuff, grippier tires, etc. You don't have a comfortable armrest because when you are tracking the car, you have both hands on the wheel. It's not a cruiser for B roads. It's a car you want to drive a shot distance to the track and floor it. What you probably want is a Competition M4.
Or just buy a Corvette Z06 for less money than all of them, and have both better performance AND better streetability, better ride quality, better build quality and reliability, and even better MPG. All of BMW's pricing is FUCKING RIDICULOUS now. Look at the open market, look at the other cars you can buy for that much money. You would have to be clinically insane to buy ANY BMW M models for what BMW is asking for them.
Nah. Think I'll keep my extra 4 cylinders, better sounding, more aggressive looking, faster, Active Seated, better material modified V10 M5. A damn shame that we'll never have a V10 BMW again :-(
Just makes your car more rare. Especially as EV cars take over, the only ICE cars desired will be the special ones like the only V8 and V10 true Motorsport bespoke engines to come from the mark. Ones with actual championship wins under their belt
Great review. I have competition package which is uncomfortable enough for a daily. This seems a bit too much. The lightweight doors seem gimmicky and not practical.
It's a track car in my opinion, not a daily,too stiff for that, even in comfort if u hit any bumps or uneven surfaces at speed over 30mph, u feel everything, i mean that everyfreakingthing.
Think I'd rather buy a standard m4 competition package and then buy the new rs focus for the wet days keep the m4 for dey miles and the all wheel drive on the focus be handy on wet roads
90k for this and 90+k for the audi rs5...the price spike of these newer gen cars is fucking ridiculous!!!....the 2030 bmw m4 will cost over a million dollars at this rate!!!! 😆😆😂
really? I have a 2006 Cayman with a 3.8 that's pushing about 400 hp. I have not had a chance to take it to the track yet, but I do have to say that this car is a blast around corners. The ass end may kick out when pushing it, but it immediately hooks and then I'm gone.

BMW was first in my favourite list among the germans, several years ago but now it's 3rd. No progress at all, with a few hp up and extremely high price. I would rather take the new rs5 with same performance, a very cool interior/exterior and £60k+.
