This is a new addition to the garage, a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 LT. This was the cheapest 2017 I could find, it has some issues that I will be resolving over the next several months. Stay tuned to the channel for more updates and follow along with the truck build!

I found a 2016 for 16k… has 150,000 miles and honestly I’m excited to check it out now after watching this.

On silver vehicles, I really like black wheels. Fuel Rebels are pretty sweet.

Nice truck im looking at a 2019 V8. The AC is a bad condenser. I am going to sell in my 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport.

@@Myksgarage did some upgrades to my liking and so far its been an awesome truck. Paid $33k for it, pretty reasonable considering how expensive the new ones are today.

I think you and I are having the same approach to vehicles. Looking to trade in my 2022 2500HD for a model Y. Then going to pickup a much older single cab 2500 for truck stuff

Yeah that makes more sense for me as well! Best of luck!

Make sure you get an AFM delete for that 5.3 keep it running on all 8 cylinders and save your lifters

I have the same truck, I also am a transmission mechanic and tune these trucks with HPtuners. Make sure you delete the trans cooler line thermostat, check your engine oil cooler lines where the rubber flex hose begins from the metal tubing, they are known to weap oil. Also the radiator in front has louvers that are powered by a cheap electric motor, these motors go bad at early mileage throwing a CEL which in turn will not let you remote start your truck. Don't replace because you have to buy the louvers/motor as a complete assembly, just get it tuned out by a tuner. The transmission needs to be tuned to bring up the slip tables on the TCC slip tables from 0-at least 20 rpms of slip. Have the TCC lockup tuned out gears 1-3, only lockup in 4-6th. Also have tuner change AC TCC minumum slip from 3 to 20, this will save you from premature torgue converter shudder and or failure. Change your transmission fluid and filter every 30k miles. There is power to be had in these DI motors but first thing is have a tuner turn off AFM/DOD, you don't want to risk having lifter failure and possibly ruining your engine. DO not run 0W oil in these engines, run at least 5w-20. OW oil is too thin and causes premature lifter wear and failure. Also check the vacuum pump, make sure it is in good order, if they fail, they use engine oil for lubrication and if they fail, they put metal debris back through your motor by contaminating the engine oil... not good. Google how to delete this pump and run brake booster off intake vacuum after you tune out AFM.DOD. These trucks have a lot of nuisance little quirks but once you delete this or tune that, it is mostly a cheap permanent fix and will preserve the motor and trans for the long haul. Enjoy!!!
