A true craftsman at work. Loves what he does (it shows) so he's extremely detail oriented, knowledgeable, which is why in the end he's going to be so "effective" at reaching his objective (maximizing power on systems he analyzes and modifies) which is what we want in a vendor. As t he owner of BizAutomation I do the same thing but in the world of ERP software, but the process is not too unsimilar. You gotta love what you do, and it no longer becomes work, and you become the best at doing it.

I installed a Brock's CT Meg exhaust on my 2021. When I did a pre fit, It was such a tight fit that I thought this thing aint never going to line up easy on the bike! I was wrong! Fit and finish were top shelf! The weld on the megaphone bracket may have gotten a little hot, but still looks superb to me! Also, I did run into a issue with interference between the oil-cooler and #1 header pipe. I initially thought to delete the oil-cooler, but figured a easy fix due to the unique mounting of the cooler. Very pricey pipe, but worth every penny!

I'm so so glad I took my tuners advice about not waisting money on a yoshi slip on, he told me it was only worth 2 or 3 bhp just as you showed so well Brock, there's a lot of us in the UK watching your videos with interest, considering the yoshi slip on I was going to buy was £760.00 and the full Arrows system I'm now going to fit is £1,200 it's a bit of a no brainer ☺

Brock: You're such a tease. Great stuff brother. Just bought the 2017 GSX-R1000R today. And yes the quick/blip shifter is first class. I held the throttle steady, both up and down shifts were near seamless, the only time I clutched was from a dead stop or downshifting to first. Even at 165hp, acceleration from a dead stop was impressive, but nothing close to Mr. 7 sec :-) I'll get into the performance suspension and sort through the electronics package next. My only beef from the factory are the cheezy brake lines, noticeably mushy, not something I'd take to a track day or race without an upgrade first.

Very good and dead on. I'm retired from the industry and spent considerable time studying Volumetric efficiency and I can say that few people understand what is going on here, I'm glad to see that someone actually cares enough to learn what all this flow is all about. Personally I would not delete the X-up system unless it is prone to high maintenance and cost later down the road, though I might add a slip-on but really all that will be saved is weight.

So did a little experiment on my 2023 gxsr1000 1. Opened the rear valve, closed the valve in the crossover tube up in the headers gained 5 hp from 4000 to 10000 2. Opened the rear valve, opened the valve in the crossover tube up in the headers (so everything is open now free flowing) gained 5 to 6 hp from 10000 to 14000, but lost 5hp from 4000 to 10000. So i think for racing no:2 would be the best set up for now until i get a set of your headers.
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 9 месяцев назад
Your testing is correct! The answer to your question depends on exactly what type of racing you are doing...any partial throttle, #1. WFO...#2. But if your answer is #2, our full exhaust will produce even better results.

At 13:50 Brock says that closed crossover pipes give more peak power, but isn't he mistaken? Suzuki website says SET-A butterfly valve "remains closed to enhance mid-range and low-rpm power, then opens at high rpm to add significant top-end power."

Since that has a quick shifter why are you blipping the gas as you shift, like it doesn’t have one?
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 4 года назад
This is the standard (not R) model, so it did not have a QS at the time of this video - it gets retrofittedin a later episode. FYI: Most modern bikes will quickly notice the front wheel is stationary and the back wheel is spinning, which will throw trouble codes and not allow certain unnecessary items to function until the ECU is reset. Quick Shifters and Auto blippers fall into this category. Resetting can be easy, or a real PITA... we can reset some in seconds, some take 1/2 hour+ of riding on the street...it depends on the bike. Some bikes won't make it 30 seconds on the dyno, some will allow 3-4 dyno runs - once again, it depends on the bike. And last, QS's are designed for wide-open throttle, high RPM use, so using them anywhere else can lead to much larger problems such as missed gears, stretched chains, and even transmission damage.
@timjamesvella
@timjamesvella 7 лет назад
hi Brock does this mean, one could run the bike perfectly fine without the muffler, or with any slip on and not have to worry about remapping?
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 7 лет назад
Not at all. As shown in the video, this bike was on the verge of 'too lean' operation when adding the slip-on - and this was just a 100% throttle test. The bike is desperately lean in some spots under cruising conditions - this is never good, long term.
@apexhunter2k
@apexhunter2k 7 лет назад
Gotcha, it's been awhile since I looked on your Instagram. I just looked on your Facebook page. Exhaust looks bad ass. I noticed most manufacturers are going to the mid pipe connecting the 1 & 4 and 2&3 cylinders instead of the traditional 1&2 and 3&4 cylinders. Does this increase midrange or improve top end gains?
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 7 лет назад
I wouldn't say most? At least not in our world. It can pick up mid range, but it's usually at the expense of top end gains.

What is the difference between my engine and the zx10r? Its almost a 50hp difference. What is it that makes it produce so much more power stock then my fully modified litre bike?
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 4 года назад
The quick answer: The ZX-10R is a race motor, severely neutered for street use. The Ninja 1000 is a street motor. Once we work our magic on the 10R, it's a bad mofo.

Sorry for the late reply but if the valve is after the cat it also works as a heatkeeper, the cat needs heat to work properly. EU4 or what ever. As the PAIR or air inlets to the exhaust, the cat needs oxygen to get hot fast to manage the gases. To make it more f....d up........MotoGP bikes has these valves too and they dont give a shit about emissions or noise.... ;-)
@BrockDavidson
@BrockDavidson 5 лет назад
Moto GP bikes do not use these exhaust valves in the same manner or location - they are more like the Suzuki 'A' valve which allows the use of the addtional cylinder(s) at wide open throttle. This gives the power of a large diameter exhaust at high rev's, but smaller tubing produces more low to mid range power. The best of both worlds - with a proper ability to control the valve (s) for peak performance. Unfortunately, this not the case for store bought streetbikes...

Yeah the new gixxer is all hype. They tried to say the large baseball bat on the bike was the reason it was being held back. Nah that's so far from the truth that it is not even funny. Gixxer bikes it seem will never really make big power. Not really Suzuki main focus there. They just build good street riding comfort style riding machines, Nothing more. Nothing less. I was thinking it was going to be more powerful than the R1 but the R1 would kill it. VVT still nothing but works nice on a super bike. VVT on the c14 when it first came out helped that large bike out giving it more mid range kick over bikes in its class. I also looked at the video of the gen 4 over this. Couldn't even make more power over a bike that was designed what 6 years ago? Only thing that will happen when you remove the large pipe is just weight savings. On the head pipe area. Larger pipes also bring about bigger hp gains. Even with a bike that has ti headers on it when you install that full cause of the larger headers, it will pick up much more power. This is easy. Also when you just run headers with no pipe on it. You lose back pressure. That does the machine no good.
