I disagree with many negative comments on this Grand Cherokee, I made the switch from a Land Rover Diesel to my Grand Cherokee because of the reliability. All Land Rover vehicles are so unreliable. My neighbor, my brother and my self went to the Jeep dealer at the same time to trade LR Diesels for the EcoDiesels from Jeep. We were tired of sensors failing, injectors, TPMS, and some smart features of the LR's whilst towing, off roading, boon docking. Now in my case I have 60K miles on my EcoDiesel Summit and not one gremlin on it so reliability is definitely there, after swapping the highway tires for some Nitto AT tires the Jeep Grand Cherokee felt even more capable (looking into a nice rim setup to go along with new KO2 tires now). Yes, I miss some of the luxury appointments form the LR's but now I can say I actually enjoy off roading and towing with my Jeep and also glad from not driving loaner vehicles from Land Rover for my many service visits nor the embarrassment of getting towed out of a camping or RV site. So you can not really say a lot of non sense and show your ignorance if you have not lived it. Or in other words...At least Purchase the vehicle and experience it before your hatred towards the unknown gets shot down because of your ignorance. Peace and love people.
Jeep Overlander You are right. Several people blindly and spontaneously accuse unduly the GC of being unreliable, to be a FIAT, and giving all the credit and the confidence to german or english cars... personally, I owned a GC WK diesel and attained almost 300.000 km without any major fix, and since 6 months, I am the happy owner of a 2018 GC overland diesel and it is a great car... i am still trying to figure out where this wrong bad image is coming from !!
I personally feel like the GC summit is just as comfortable as premium brand SUVs. Is there anything lacking in your opinion that the LR had? I feel like the GC offers the same experience at a much lower price tag. Very comparable. Was the LR quieter? Did it ride smoother? What are you referring to when you say it's not a luxury vehicle? It has all the features of one. Jeep is trying to become a premium brand and I think they've crossed that line at this point. At least with this model.
@@youssefsabiri3860 Very hardy SUV and reliable !! I have a request if you are in contact with representatives of a Jeep, then tell them for Russia they made the most reliable jeep! There is one Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2013 with a 3.6 engine, it has a mileage of almost 800,000 thousand kilometers or 497,096,954 thousand miles !! Not a problem except a broken gearbox !!
I don't see how wood and aluminum are dated? Its beautiful. Quilted leather stitching can also be found in Bentley and Rolls Royce models. It's a European interior design cue and unique considering how rare it is in non-premium bands. The only other option would be to eliminate it and then it would feel like a plain, non-premium vehicle with no character. This interior was clearly designed by artists for people that appreciate beauty and attention to detail and spend a lot of time in their vehicles. All other brands with premium vehicles also do this so not sure why you mentioned it.
I think Land Rovers look like prototypes that never completed the design process and went straight to production. They look like blank canvases. Maybe thats what people like about them. Surely its not the reliability.
The driver and passenger seat adjustment knobs have limited adjustments and are so chintzy. Why they removed the stop n go feature I’ll never understand.
i`ve never heard anyone say quilted leather and wood trim are getting old and outdated. must be nice to have such high society taste like you have. let me guess, you drive a gold plated vehicle with 24k gold trim throughout the cabin...must be nice
@@tomtalker2000 "Jeep" doesn't stand for cheap. Its a classic brand that specializes in adventures in off-road capable vehicles. You want cheap go get a Nissan
One feature I dislike, the power tailgate...and the lack of an opening rear window. I'd take the power tailgate if I could get a rear window that opened for easy access
These drive just as nicely as the BMW’s. Very smooth cruiser. Very quiet. Very comfortable. Although, they don’t take corners as well as the BMW. It’s not built for that either. It provides a genuine luxury SUV experience for much less than the luxury-brand competitors with the same options.
When comparing to luxo brands why is cost of ownership always left out? Yes, you can get an entry level luxoute for the same price, but it will easily cost 4 times more to run it.
I don't see what premium brand SUVs offer that a GC can not. Smooth ride? Check. Quiet ride? Check. Premium interior? Check. Premium materials? Check. Heavy tight steering? Check. What else does it need?

Take one of those luxury brands in for an oil change or a 30,000 mile "service " . I feel kinda smug in my 5.7 GC that'll run on regular gas and can have the oil changed at jiffy lube. Or maybe your idea of luxury is getting ripped off for service and maintenance and repairs.
one thing I would change about Grand Cherokee is to have a MANUAL TRANSMISSION... I just wish Jeep management does that... Technology reliance is sometimes NOT good. That's why I would choose LANDCRUISER GXL 76 series instead of Jeep...
@@healthyamerican My Jeep was 18 months old with just over 10,000 miles when the trans need to be replaced under warranty after numerous unsuccessful software updates. No accidents or abuse
I know that this bright white leather seating seems to be popular, evidently...But it also says "dirty" after a few months! I can't even comprehend paying that kind of money for a jeep? The long term quality is suspect, it's sad that folks think this is a reasonable price to part with! I would much rather have the Discovery diesel that you reviewed over this over priced "fake" premium vehicle!
I can't speak for anyone else, but I've had a 2014 Laredo 4X4 since I got it new in August 2013. It's not a summit, obviously, as I got it for under $30,000 (US). I won't say it's the best vehicle out there, but I haven't had any headaches with it. I didn't really need all the extra options offered in the high end vehicles. The only thing I really cared about was having a solid SUV to take me across the US through inclement weather, and to navigate the trails that lead to the house I grew up in for the holidays. I've heard nightmare stories, but I think the real issue is that people are always reviewing the most expensive Grand Cherokees available. I think that hopping in a vehicle with an 8-Speed transmission, and a chassis that rode like a Mercedes ML for under $30,000 means something. I'm not trying to change your opinion. But I feel like you have some sort of bias that turns you away from the Jeep. If I were to pay, say, $50,000 today, however, I'd step into a Range Rover Velar. There's always an offering somewhere that seems like a bargain. But that bargain is always a base model.
Just purchased a 2019 Summit, including the 5.7 Hemi and the Laguna Leather option. First, the Laguna Leather is gray, not white. Second, the quality, fit and finish is excellent. The cabin is very quiet without any squeaks our rattles on our awful New England roads. My point of reference is BMW X3 and Porsche Cayenne S. No question the German cars handle better in the corners but we’re talking heavy SUV’s not sports cars. This is Not a “fake” premium vehicle, I driven European, mostly German, cars for the past 40 years. I know of what I speak. At $57K out the door, it’s an impressive value, unless you’re a snob and require a badge to feel content.
Most people that buy these buy them for the look and driving experience, not the name. Those same buyers also aren't concerned about their identity being defined by their car's brand.
hard to find a land rover thats older than 10 years, as they are all in the junkyard. surely you know land rovers are most famous for their unreliability. but its your money to spend where you want
