I love the sound of the i3 twin turbo. Hope we see more i3 turbocharged engines.

I have '15 Countryman, and you don't actually have to put the key into the crescent-shaped hole. The key just needs to be in the car to start it.

The way they keep growing, next year's model will compare to the Chevy Tahoe.

Cars that are LONGER than this huge MINI Countryman which is 170' inches long include: Mazda 3 (177.6"), BMW E30 (170-175"), 1993 Honda Civic (173"), 1999 Porsche 911 (175"), 1982 Ford Escort (170"), 1990 Acura Integra coupe (172.8"). I think I've made my point....

As always, great reviews. We test drove quite a few mini's and the new generation (2014+), while more refined and luxurious, trades that for some of the fun factor. Even the 2017 Mini Cooper Hatch JCW feels torn between "am I luxury or fun" vs the previous generation refresh (2011-2013). While mini's are intended to be fun, the current newly revised crop (inc the 2017 Countryman) appeal to more "normal, more luxury", "bigger is better", "lets appeal to more buyers" but trade out the quirkiness and fun factor. Hopefully Mini will still bring in the "mini minor".

I just noticed the "tachometer" glow-ring around the center display. That's... different.

I own 2016 countryman S bought used. They have been improving reliability, i would recommend the S model, cause the 3 cylinder is bit of strain on engine according to few people i knew who owned.

I had the Closed Captioning on due to noise of people working in the house. You might want to check the CC since I don't think you wanted the "F**k" part in the CC. The CC has all kinds of weird stuff in it. I will re-watch the article when it gets quieter around here. The part I did hear, other than the geographic impairment, was good.

Seems to me as part of a media source testing and reviewing cars, reliability should be an issue. After all, folks are relying on you to supply them with ALL of the pertinent information to make an educated decision on which car to buy ,and nobody wants to spend upward of 30 grand and buy a lemon.

You REALLY should start using a microphone.

The 1.5 litre 3-cylinder Mini with only 134 bhp is underpowered compared to the Golf 1.5 litre that has 150 bhp. The 1.5litre engine from the Mini is the same engine as fitted to the BMW i8 but the i8 has 215 bhp. The mini really needs to remap its engine to at least 150 bhp. When at motorway speed in top gear the turbo is not working so the acceleration for overtaking is really bad - personal experience has shown that you need to change down 2 gears for safe overtaking. But, the worst thing? The wind noise when travelling above 60 mph. This is not a car for long distances. The Golf is far better in most areas.

Shame that Mini isn't making small cars as before, increasing their size makes the name of brand, for me, redundant...

26mpg combined for the standard car? shouldn't that be 46mpg?

It's the same size as a Golf but it feels bulky? I'd go for a Golf. They always feel great even in basic form.

why dont just mini install a honda civic turbo engine there

27 mpg? I get 40 with my 09 Clubman. So sad to see the Mini become more Americanized, as in, getting fatter and bigger.

when transitioning from speaking segments to music only...PLEASE adjust the music volume/gain down a notch or two as each time you (guys) went to the music, I had to turn my volume down 5-10 pts or risk hurting my ears; this was w/my computer volume at "40" and YT volume at the bottom 20%...I really like when you do base spec'd/limited option cars to show the "affordability" of cars like this...more sub $30K optioned car please..thx...yes, I know the avg car price is $33.5, but that doesn't mean a nice, good, fun car can't be had for less

If your cooper has 4 doors its not a Mini Cooper..it’s a mommy cooper lol and i hate the interior, They are slowly getting rid of everything that makes a mini mini.. no thanks. I’ll keep my r53 as long as I can.
