We own a 2014 Rav4 4cyl with almost 170k miles that's still running like new. The only thing we've ever had to do to it was brakes, tires, oil changes, other regular maintenance stuff, and recently had to replace the negative battery cable connector.
That's AMAZING! I've got a 2020 RAV4 with the 2.5L and it's a great car! I don't know if mine has that carbon filter. I do know the air cleaner assembly is in front of the engine, between the radiator and the engine. Good one Oz!
Hola Oz Me pasó lo mismo pero con un Nissan, tenía el código P0101 y el filtro de aire tenía un color rojo Cambiamos el filtro y corrigió el problema 👍 God Bless You
Man this is AWESOME👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I've been using the free version of the website, don't get what I need all the time but still it's worth getting a subscription👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hell yeah!! Anytime I get a Toyota those years with a maf code that’s the number one to go to now. That or people that leave hoses off after changing a filter. 😂
Nice work! don't you love when you find the silver bullet ! that code could have stumped so many people, how many ECUs would have been thrown at this ?
Toyota is an engineering marvel. Notice it is just not any filter, but a Charcoal filter. So it has two air filters, the primary regular air filter which is the 1st filter, then the secondary Charcoal one. So it wasn't just too much air, but the chemical make up of the air that mattered to the MAF sensor.
The charcoal filter’s primary job is to absorb fuel vapor from the intake after the engine is shut off. I have seen Toyotas with the charcoal filter removed with no fuel trim issues but there is likely no gains in power so no reason to remove it. My guess would be the diameter of the tube where the mass air flow sensor is located is slightly smaller than OEM causing the air to have higher velocity. The MAF is reporting more air because of it. Or the profile inside the air box is incorrect and causing uneven airflow on the MAF.
We are very interested in all the modules on each vehicle, would you mind scrolling down your TOPOLOGY listing so we can get a count and maybe a view of the module designation as a known good listing, cheers. Did you know that Scott Brown was the original owner of iATN also before selling it and the new owners screwed it up for a little while losing them lots of members?
A lot of "adolescent tuners" back in the day would take that honeycomb out of the MAF thinking they would get more air in the engine. They run like poo without it 😅
Oh! How I miss the wand-style cruise control on newer Toyotas! Anywho, not only was it not branded, the air box lacked the ribs around the mating surfaces for rigidity, where the piece of crap had some flat, token ribs. There was no way that would work.
