Honestly I feel if literally anybody the fuck else had made that song - it wouldn't have been nearly as horrid. His stupid, breathy, white boy british ass delivery stands out like a sore thumb. I hold the same thoughts about it as I do now about having a soft-pop-singer-songwritery type go on to making a retail-core dance song. Shit's just awful from every way you look at it.

I also confirm this. I'm from latin america so I knew Luís Fonsi since the nineties as a low tier balladist and that's it. I was in Japan in 2017 when the song exploded and when I was eating at a ramen shop it started to play, and I was like "what the fuck? Luís Fonsi on japanese radio singing a reggetón song?", then the song was absolutely everywhere I was traveling around the country. As someone that spanish is his native language it was kind of surreal.
