What's up guys! This was one of the top installs that I wanted to do when I first bought my WRX, and I'm finally getting around to get it done. If you buy the kit from Subi Bros I suggest also buying the plug and play harness because it made it so much easier to install this. I didn't show it but taking all 4 clips out of the bottom of the rear bumper will make it even easier to install the lamp. On a scale of 1-10, the install difficulty is a 6, just because of the wiring part. But it's not as bad as you might think.

You rock. Everybody else was cutting into the wiring harness and as an old school car guy, you NEVER do that. I would never buy a used car that had a wiring harness cut so you just convinced me to mod my first new Subaru(and new car) thank you.

i would use 3m tape to cover the lens for added protection.

AznPitbull 23 you would want to tap into the taillight harness. At this time I don’t know what wire goes where though, so I’m not much help there. Sorry.

Juno Im I actually installed the toggle switch a few months ago and turned the blinking off. I liked it at first but I ended up getting tired of it.

Oh cool northern Cali ..I'm in Castro Valley ..What is that hole actually supposed to be used for ..I mean i think the light is cool but i seen some put a trailer hitch and that seems crazy..unless the hitch is used to hold a bicycle rack which still sounds dumb..because I'd put a rack on top to put bikes personally..lol.. i wish they'd make that rear light so it could change the LED's from red when braking to white while backing up maybe a switch would do it ..dont know

In Japan every WRX and STI has this rear fog lamp stock from the factory. I have no idea why they weren't installed here in the states. I'm in Solano county area, if you're ever up this way let me know.

its because in Japan, it is required to have a fog break like by law, for saftey reasons. Its a part of the saftey inspection check. Same thing in some parts of europe too. Its not in the US as long as your break lights works you are fine.

I bought the plug and play harness with the lamp. The problem is that the male side of the connectors didn't come in the package. So I used butt connectors with shrink wrap and then wrapped them in electrical tape to seal the wiring.

No. The USDM model WRX comes with a plastic cover that goes in that hole.

Ok in Australia we have one which glows red then brighter with the brakes but not led. The passenger side revision mirror has a camera in it also. Keep up the good videos

I know this video is a couple years old now, but I just did this on my 2017 STi and that rear rubber grommet in the trunk has a wire already going down and attaches itself to a black plastic bar on the outside of the spare wheel space just inside there bumper above where the F1 light goes. Does anyone know what that is for??? Thanks. I was thinking it was a collision or something sensor...

it's the oem wires for the jdm fog light .In australia my wrx has a foglight already installed .So now i'm trying to install the f1 style one i just left it where it was and will tap into the brake harness

I'm assuming you're talking about the extra wiring. You should have plenty of wiring left over. If not as long as there isn't a lot of tension in the wires you'll be okay.

In California you’ll get stop for everything, so I’ll be scare to put this mod on my car. California sucks for car guys, I No banner or stickers on windshield., must have front plate, Get you for being lowered, no modified exhaust
