Just bought a 19 Ford F-350 lariat ultimate (No sunroof) heard water sloshing around. Immediately looked at your channel for help. I own a car dealership in Vancouver B.C. I sell a lot of ford trucks. You are my go to. I appreciate all the hard work and time you put into these videos! Thank you! And now time for me to get these carpets dry and the TSB taken care of!
it can be the windshield not sealed correctly And I've had a few where there's a crack in the heater box because the passengers kick the plastic under the Dash and crack the heater box and then you have to use some epoxy to seal it up
I just found this finally! My 2019 f250 is SOAKED. Stinky for a couple months. Doing this repair tonight. I have the carpet ripped up and drying. Thank you!
Awesome I’ve been meaning to do this, I don’t have it leaking into the truck but figured I would do it just for good measure, I just didn’t have the part number now I do thanks to your video and the information 👍
Thank you for posting this. It's happening to my 2019 f150. Looking online it is absolutely shameful that Ford has known about this since 200x f150's. People have posted about this for over a decade.
Yo, you just save me a headache found water on my raptor ,I just finished buying 2020 and that fixed the problem. I found that if you put silicone around the edge inside the gasket, it’s a lot better than the tape.thanks
I’m a tech been working on car’s trucks since I was 13. Learned from my dad and grandpa. Now I work at a dealership and 4 trucks have been bought back by ford, 3 of them I worked on changing evap case, gaskets, the elbow tsb, and still gets water on floor board. I live in sw Louisiana so it’s 100 % humidity and the case sweats and gets the carpet wet. Talked to ford for 45 minutes and OH THE CASE IS NOT SOUTHERN FRIENDLY that’s what they told me. All in all if the ac is on and they have a crack in the window the case is gonna sweat and put water on the carpet. Ford tells me there’s no fix for that.
I'd be pretty mad if I bought a new truck and the recommended fix was to slap some tape on there Edit: I didn't mean to disrespect ford Boss, I'm sure this is a perfect fix, I'm only disappointed in ford, this shouldn't be a problem in the first place
I would love to put more time into communicating with you guys when you say stuff like this and that's actually not what happened, there's an actual fix because of something like a design flaw i just cant Comments like this kind of do get under my skin a little bit because I go through the effort of actually fixing it and showing you guys this stuff and then you leave me negative stuff like this which discourages me
I'm sure the tape is also there to reflect some of the radiant heat to keep the rubber from melting. Thanks I need to check out my 2020 F150 and see if I need to do this.
I did this want hard at all, even taking out the splash guard. Is there another spot where water can get in on these trucks? Saw something in another video where plugs were missing on the inside of the a pillar… Have you come across that?
A/C drain leaks...how many TSB on how many different models of how many different brands have I seen? You'd think water draining would be sorted out. I think the guys that have it figured out retire and burn their notes. The water wicking or blowing back against the firewall drain opening has been done. To death.
So, I have the carpet wet problem on the drivers side. I took my 2018 F-150 to my local dealer to have the 18S27 B-pillar insulation recall done. Ever since I got it back the A/C isn't working nearly as good, the carpet gets wet whenever I have the AC on and the condensation drainage on the passenger side under the truck is nowhere near what it was before they did the work on the recall. I'm guessing most of it is ending up on the driver floorboard and not making it that far. What could they have done to cause this?
I went ahead and fixed this issue on my 2020 F350, even though it's not listed in the TSB. When I put in the elbow, I applied a small amount of silicon to the tube, and then put on a worm clamp instead of tape. I also took a pair of side cutters and trimmed off the little piece off of the bottom of the tube.
@@FishFind3000 the elbow that I put on this update fits really tight so I don't know how it could would come off and let the tape came off and it's not protecting it from the heat anymore
Either way, take it back in and have a new carpet put in. Its covered under warranty, and those those trucks cost a fortune. Its not your fault it was leaking.
How are you doing brother do you know if there is a TSB like this for the 2020 ranger the drain comes out right above the transmission I could not find a TSB but I believe a elbow would fix the problem it is soaking the driver side floorboard, have you ran into this or fix one like this on a 20 ranger, thanks in advance
I mean I don't work for the dealership anymore and I don't really have access to the technical service bulletins so much but I don't think there's one out for this
@@FordBossMe thanks for the reply. I called the dealership and the only TSB is for the wrapping on the AC lines coming in through the firewall not having enough wrap on them but I pulled up the carpet and it is definitely coming from up on the center hump where the condenser drain goes through the firewall so I believe a elbow will work🔧💯🔧
@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 well here's some things to consider, make sure if somebody was riding with you they didn't kick the bottom of the HVAC box and crack it and the moisture is running down onto the carpet Make sure that the vehicle is actually dripping properly while the HVAC system is operating in the Max AC recirculation position I had a guy with a ranger come in and he was sure something was leaking from the drain or the windshield and what it was was his wife would get in the vehicle and she would shove her feet up underneath the dash and she broke the bottom plastic of HVAC box it was either a ranger or an F-150 I'm not sure I don't remember and whenever the AC was on part of the moisture would run down that crack and drip onto the carpet all the way in the back by the firewall
I have a 2016 f150 3.5 ecoboost and my climate control has no power. I aslo have a hill descent control fault, advancetrac fault, and abs fault. If you have any idea of what it could be it would be greatly appreciated thanks.
@@FordBossMe I have checked all fuses inside and under the hood their all good. The air actually started back working one time but the heated seats did not work. Then as i was driving along it dropped out under a hard brake as i stopped. I had the truck scanned at a shop he has a matco scanner. He could see all the faults and said it could be the pcm or body control module. I have to drop the truck off at the dealership today for a recall i will have them look at it.
Can you imagine that special day when car manufacturers will actually build cars, and... don't laugh... never need to recall them because they got the build right the first time... ( Drum roll )..Ta Daaa!!.. Then I woke up and it was all a dream ...🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪
@@FordBossMe ok thanks i never check my passenger side except when i clean the inside of my truck ill need to run the air one day and see if i can feel any moisture down there i dont want mildew building up
Have a 2019 f150 super crew that leaks from the condensation tube and leaked so bad my truck has a bad mildew smell in it. Dealer said they couldn't get me in till a week later. Can they get that mildew smell out with it being mildewed for over a week without replacing the carpet? Have little faith in dealers anymore.
Has the elbow and tape fix shown to fully stop the leak? I asked the dealer if they planned to put some caulking or rsv around the hole to prevent water coming back in and the guy at service said no, that Ford didn't specify or call for them to do that. Just wondering if the elbow fully fixes it.
i know most modern vehicles with ac and evap cores under the dash have drains - not sure how adding an elbow helps unless the oem drain was a restriction ?
They did my truck when I took it in for the PCM reprogram. Ended up having to clean the carpet and do mold removal because it had been doing it since I bought the truck in December of 2019. I didn’t notice it because I put weathertech floor mats in. When I took them out to clean them, I noticed the passenger side was wet. Seems to be fine now.
@@jamesplotkin4674, well the carpet isn’t supposed to be wet to begin with. My truck had the Ford all weather mats in it when I bought it, I just replaced them because I work in the pipeline industry and if you don’t have really good floor liners, you will destroy your carpet. I just hadn’t checked under them because I’d only had the truck 8 months. I check them every time I wash the truck now.
Hey I have a customer dropping off a 19 Lincoln navigator battery keeps dying every day and a half he jumps it starts and runs fine however he noticed now that the running boards were inoperable. The passenger side one was stuck down the driver side one did not present any ideas or anything I should be looking for. I'm thinking it's just a battery .. didn't know if you happen to hear of anything crazy with these trucks
Does running boards get stuck a lot and then eventually they burn up the motors Make sure everything in the dash is turned on on the settings and then open and close the passenger door and push real hard up on the running board and see if it tries to go in
@@FordBossMe yep when the battery went dead it reset the auto option for the running boards I change that they're all good now. Now I just got to check into this battery situation thank you for your help you're awesome
You absolutely have to break and file the tabs off, otherwise the rubber elbow doesn’t seal on the bottom, and water continues to leak back into the vehicle. Ford This should be common sense, but whomever designs these hack job fixes apparently has none. If you bring your vehicle in for the TSB, be sure to request that they remove the tabs. Ford was supposed to update the TSB directions, but I’ve heard reports from other service engineers this hasn’t happened yet.
@@FordBossMe it is definitely coming from that fixture because the water is leaking out all around the drain elbow I installed and back into the truck again, same place. Just not draining out of the elbow as it should be.
They make a special part and give you all those directions, so you can tape it on ………. Just me , but some engineer needs to be fired. Some special Ford glue for that special Ford abs plastic 1/2 60/40 elbow would be a real nice thing. Hey what do I know 🤪
My 2019 expedition limited is leaking inside and the passenger floor board gets wet then a musty smell Ford said since I have 38,000 miles I have to cover it 🤬
We go through and dry it all out with a heater towels Shop-Vac and we keep doing it until it's dry and then we spray it with a neutralizer chemical that we get from some bulk up interior people
What happens when they do this fix and it still leaks. I can still see it leaking for the drain back into the truck but the dealership says they made the repair and are done with it.
I’ve done a few of these where the customer lets it go so long that the carpet and the insulator behind the dash get moldy and causes the truck to stink so bad. I do the repair for the drain AND pull the dash, climate control housing, pedals and seats so I can replace the carpet and the dash insulator 🙄
I just bought a used 2019 f150 super crew 4x4 and paid handsomely for it. Had it less than a month and mine started leaking at the drain tube. Called Ford dealer I bought it from and they was so busy that they couldn't get me in till week and half later. By that time I had to drive with my windows down the mildew smell was so bad. I kept putting shop towels where it was coming in from condensation tube to slow it down. Customers for the most part are not at fault for "letting it go so long" like you say. When dealerships put you a week or more out to get it looked at, that's the problem. It's not like I can't take it to Joe Blow mechanic and he cover the warranty work.
I love how they tell you to discard the metal piece....then what the hell was the point of it anyways? What a horrible design flaw. Ford should've known that anything that slowly drips horizontally will always back pedal. Should've come out from the firewall and curved downward from the factory!
