If you have problem with the dashboard usb port / audio port on your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica? Remember, this is the main usb port because it will not only charge your phone but also used it for CarPlay or Android Auto functions. This video I will show you how to replace usb unit and fix the problem. Hope you guys found its useful.

Thanks. If it weren't for this video I wouldn't have even tried to replace the module myself, or even known what to replace. This is probably the most useful tip I have ever gotten from RU-vid. .

Thank You! This video was great! The panel mounts are a little stiff and needed to use a small flat screwdriver to get the unit it self out but the new one snapped right in. Tested the new unit before reinstalling the panel and all worked great.

Shout out to you dude. Just fixed my 2018 Pacifica and I have CarPlay back 🎉. The part now costs about $80 but I’m sure this saved me several hundred and a day at the dealer. THANK YOU.

It was so easy to replace. Even at the dealership parking lot where I bought the part. HOWEVER, did not solve the issue. Parts guy said it could be wiring issue too which I am sure it is. He did say the USB hub did fail a lot.

Thanks. 10 minute fix. Very easy. One odd thing I noticed. Even though only one of the mini-USB plugs is used, the old module had both of them populated. The new module has only one and the cutout in the back of the plastic case is empty. I'm going to figure out what is wrong with the old module and fix it. Might also be helpful to drill some holes in the top and bottom of the plastic case for better airflow.

Same as everyone here… saved me a ton of time and headache on my 2019 Touring L. Dealer wanted like $300 to “attempt to fix” the problem. I paid $17 for the Mopar replacement part and did it myself. Apple CarPlay and phone charging now work again.

@@lettcco guess what happens when you get new iPhone 15s with usb-c connector. Got to find right data cable. But my unit went out and new USB Hub that he showed us how to replace still no go.

Interesting thing my old one I just pulled out has two USB ports on the back with just one connected. New part only has one USB port.

Thanks for the video. My unit quitted during a trip and I got this 68229840AB replacement ordered from Mopar and replaced last night. However, the problem still existed after replacement with Android Auto nor Carplay working. Tried with multiple phones and USB cables and problem still existed. Any other ideas to get AA or Carplay back?

40AA is the early version, and 40AB is the revised version. Both will works but I would go with 40AB if the cost is not too much.

@@150SCOOTER easy to install. Thanks. But it did not solve the issue. I still don’t get either charging iPhone 15 or CarPlay to pop up. Parts guy at Jeep Chrysler dealer said that hub fails all the time or it could be internal wiring issue. May have to spend 100s to fix. I had a 2019 that was perfect to 140k miles and traded in for used 2020 with34k. First 10k miles no issue with CarPlay. Now this. Checked all the relevant fuses also.

Btw, I have a speaker question. This is for the lower speakers on both driver and passenger door. When I play music, it has a muffled bass sound. Any music vocals are not present. Do you have this issue? Normal?

You're welcome to share my video. I don't have the speakers problem you mentioned. Was the problem there since you first bought it or just happen recently? Active noise cancellation in our car might be the cause of your problem. It might just be normal for Alpine or Harman Kardon speakers system. I don't have your problem maybe my car speakers is just the base speakers.

@@150SCOOTER I have a 2019 Limited. I bought it used last year (June). I originally never paid attention until I took a long road trip. I took it to a dealer but they seem to act it was fine. I just find it hard to believe this is a normal muffled bass like sound. I can clearly hear the vocals in the front top area of the dash and other speaker areas of the vehicle.

I did test the wires with multimeter and it does have power beforehand. Still working after two months of daily uses.

It was very easy to install. But, but, but it did not solve issue. Parts guy at Chrysler said they get replaced a lot. I have a 2020 Ltd. However, it could be internal wiring issue too he said. And it probably is. I checked the fuses involved no bad fuses too. Well probably next spending 100s unless a workaround

Just take your time slowly using your fingers or flat head pry out little by little from each side. Hope that's helpful. 😀

I’m having the same problem in my 18 Pacifica! My usb port charges my phone, but CarPlay doesn’t work. It doesn’t even show up in my phone under CarPlay as a vehicle to connect to. I bought a new Apple cord (CarPlay still doesn’t work) so either I need to reset my phone or buy a new one or try replacing the USB port.

That's true, I got the base model L and after 3+ years this is the only problem I'm having. I do heard a lot of good and bad stories from other owners. Surely the Japanese made are much better in quality.
