All speculation aside, I'm actually pretty excited to see Khrennikov compete in Madison. Dude brings a lot of fire, and it's nice to see different countries breaking onto the scene! I think he may shake up the leaderboard a bit.
That was the most incredible regional! I was blown away by their sheer grit and talent. Even my husband (who does not CF) was standing up and cheering. So memorable and special. The amazing thing was the definite demarcation line in points, between the top few athletes' scores and the rest. I found that absolutely fascinating. Oh and Sara's security detail :D
Just the russians? did you notice how easy it was for the guy to get someone to "coach" him on his PED use? he just made a few calls and that was it. I'm sure every athelete who makes money off their sport has atleast consulted a PED specialiced doctor.
I’m fortunate enough to know a few games and regionals athletes and I’ve defended Crossfit athletes in general many times when people accuse them of juicing. I see the 4+ hours of training a day, the strict diets, and even the way they prioritize sleep and it’s incredible. I don’t think cheating is rampant in our sport but obviously with any sport there will always be a certain %. If you’ve seen Icarus then you saw how far the Russian government goes to create superior athletes and I’m just hoping that these athletes aren’t a part of that so we can root them on and continue to have a great sport

Until CrossFit becomes a state-funded sport, I strongly doubt we'll see state-sponsored doping in CrossFit. So it's probably incorrect to associate Khrenkikov and Ganin with that stuff. With that said, it isn't difficult to get PEDs in Eastern Europe. But that's a separate issue that isn't related to the content in Icarus.
1. There are strict dope control procedures in this sport. 2. All Russians are not dope abusers. You can't use it as an argument "if a Russian wins in any sport, he/she must be doping." 3. No Russian has ever won the CrossFit games. These are the ones who made it past the Regionals this year, they haven't won anything yet, and I don't think they will.
These are the best exercises for anyone's body. They are functional and provide the perfect stimulus to the body. They are also the movements that bring about the best neuro - endocrinal response. And they do have an off - season.
