2018 French Grand Prix: Race Highlights 

Sainz in lap 1: "how the hell did I get here??" Alonso the whole race: "I miss toyota...."

Kimi passed Leclerc, Magnussen, Sainz, Vettel and Ricciardo. Started 6th, finished 3rd with a clean race. He should have won driver of the day.

Have no one noticed Magnussen's great race, and his ability to hold back a Mercedes for 10 laps....

Leclerc is really becoming quite a consistent driver, really wrings the neck of that Sauber every race

The reason why Vettel didn't got any harsh penalty, was because first lap/turn incidents are taken lightly. Going into the first corner is always messy anyway. That's why drivers don't usually get harsh penalties for running off and joining, cutting corners, hitting others or taking shortcuts like Max did. But if a someone does the same in mid-race, he is bound to have a harsh penalty. Example: Max 10 sec penalty in China. When Hamilton cut the corner Russia 2014 and in Mexico 2016 and got away with it but when max did it in the same race in Mexico he got penalized, cuz he did in the middle of the race. And many more examples to find on, So usually first lap or turn are taken lightly with light penalties. One can also say Vettel lost the downforce behind Hamilton and missed his braking just like Riccardo did in Baku behind Max.

This was actually a decent race. I hope 2021 is similar

Kimi's overtake on Dany is one of the finest. Absolutely enjoyed it. Good to see him on podium, although his days are numbered I guess. Also Leclerc, what a guy. Taking a Sauber to points, great job.

Huh, this the second sixth place for Magnussen this year, very impressive stuff. Also Leclerc is a beast really looking foward to him on a competitive car.

Kimi shows very nice racing talent and skill there passing Ricciardo so cleanly! He doesn't try too hard when he sees it's not possible and respects Ricciardos space and racing line at the same time. Great racing to watch there!

Hamilton - led every single lap and won Kimi - made it to the podium with very solid drive Vettel - caused a crash at the start and won the Driver of the day. 👏👏👏

It really says something about the competitiveness of a car if even Fernando Alonso only manages to get second to last of the qualified finishers....

Whoever decided that the Ricciardo_Raikkonen battle will be broadcast from onboard cameras deserves a medal. It was just a couple of shots over a couple of seconds but it was completely exhilarating and I almost fell off my chair at how it pulled me into the race. More of those please FOM.

This was my first Grand Prix weekend. I’m an American studying in Paris and i just had to make the trek down and it was lovely. I hope Le Castellet stays on the calendar. I know it’s popular to hate the circuit but it’s become very special to me

Although Sainz had a bad end of a race he showed that if he had a top end car he could battle with the top guys but nevertheless I still enjoyed his race and the all race. Formula 1 forever

Really enjoyable to watch! Not only because of all the action but because of all the different angles and perspectives. Beautiful.

4 really good consecutive races in a row now for Max. He hasn't been involved in a first lap incident this year. Despite what haters have to say, consistency is incoming. He will prove them all wrong.

This season has been fantastic!

It's amazing how Bottas still managed to finish 7th despite the tire blowout. Mercedes engines along with Ferrari and Red Bull are extremely quick, others are finding it hard to compete with them. They usually collar the top six each and every race!

I voted for Charles Leclerc to be the driver of the day, why would anyone choose Vettel? If you cause the collision then use your engine to overtake most of the smaller teams, you don't deserve DOTD

Kimi did well

My only question is that i thought mercedes would be really dominant this weekend. I mean they did technically its just that valtteri got spun by vettel at the start. However why did it look like valtteri had a difficult time overtaking cars like sauber etc. Vettel shown how easy it is to overtake in this track meanwhile bottas got held by a williams car.

Really enjoyed this race. A welcome addition to the F1 calendar! At first I was sceptical and wished for Magny-Cours to return, but this race proved otherwise. Also the scenery behind the track was beautiful.

Magnussen was the driver of the day, for me.

in almost every race you hear "vettel locked up"...

Sainz had P3 and he made nothing out of it, why are midfield cars so much worse compared to the big teams this year? I remember when Toro Rosso and Williams had wins out of nowhere but best we can hope for now is a lucky 3rd like the Perez one

I love how Ferrari people on the pit lane were so angry when they saw Raikkonen overtaking Vettel 😂😂. I also love how all the Ferrari-powered cars didn't even bother defending against Vettel, yet the Ferrari fanboys were crying everywhere after Monaco because of Ocon. And a 5 second penalty? Wow causing a collision and ruining somebody's race should give you a drive-thru penalty, or at least a 10 seconds penalty. We know what "FIA" means anyway. Vettel's race and Raikkonen on the podium proves once again how Ferrari has a much better car this year than anybody else. I've said it before they can only lose both titles because of their own drivers, just like they did last year

Definitely the most watchable and dramatic grand prix this year so far, and of course thumb up to Leclerc.
