Love my 2016 RAM. Drove it 4000 miles last summer on vacation. Smooth, comfortable, quiet and pretty decent on fuel with the HEMI.

Been f150 for years, took it of road multiple times, had Nitto tired on it. The ride was hard but got used to it, recently got a ram and the difference is big, I was going over the same holes and jumps and the truck was surprisingly very comfortable.

I recently got a 16 Ram Lone Star 1500. And wow I’m speechless! Turns like a car and it’s smooth!

Good review on the air ride. Another advantage off road is when the trucks are loaded down to max payload with gear and people the other two trucks will suffer from suspension sag and lose on all the approach, breakover, body and departure angles. The Ram with air ride will level out and lose nothing, making it a far better off road truck than the other two.

The Ram was actually redesigned in 2013 , the outside almost looks the same as the 09-12 but there are slight differences . And that 8 speed is awesome. As tested must have had a 3.21 because a 3.92 equipped Ram is rated to tow over 10k

You seem to not be a GM fan, you spent the least time recapping it. It seemed you are a Ford fan because you talked it up and spent the most time on it and the Dodge.

I drive an eco boost with a 6 speed and I can’t stand when the transmission has to always shift to find the right power band for the speed. I always use the manual shift mode.

Ram suspension is either Coil springs on 4 corners or Air bags on all 4 corners. It doesn't come with both. The rear suspension is a 5 link in either configuration.

I love my 2017 RAM. Got it fully loaded, it's amazing. And you can tow up to 10k with 3.92 gear ratio

Loved the review, although you should state that all it costs is a mere $95 on the ram to get the 3.92 rear end and then it can tow over 10k. Seemed to me like that was really the only Con to the other parts of the review about the Ram.

Hey offroad.com is The steering in the Ford is light, Chevy middle, & Ram heavy. Then what does the Nissan Titan and Titans XD steering feel like?! IMO that’s one thing no reviewer ever talks about in the comparison. Well that and drivers footrest.

Why did you use a limited instead of a platinum, king ranch, or lariat with still the 3.5 eco boost and the Fx4 package. And the smaller rims with the better tires and not just big street tires on 22’s?

Those are low tow ratings for new trucks. What was the diff gear? My wife's Silverado is rated to tow 12,500, but I also found the only 3.42 in the city. Every other Silverado half ton had a 3.07 or 3.23. I'm sure that made the difference. Also changed the power delivery and helped keep the heavy truck in 4cyl mode when cruising. Still doesn't compete with the Ecoboost, but it isn't slow.

Has Dodge fixed their air suspension failure issue in cold weather yet (being serious)? I thought that this options was awesome but read multiple threads about this being a huge issue with people who live in cold climates.

Good review, hopefully the air suspension on the Dodge is proving to be reliable, nice package overall. All good trucks I believe, I do have a 2019 F150 KR and it’s been a great vehicle overall, it corners well and with the aluminum body’s lower weight seems almost sporty. The 3.5 is not set up for high revs but certainly doesn’t lack for power, it seems to tow heavy loads without effort.

Why a limited get platinum with fx4 I have one and it's a beast off road but I have the 5.0 coyote that's not an fair Comparison

I think you made a pretty good video but the fact that these trucks do not compare to each other because of different engines and different trim packages for off-road capability does not make sense it would only be fair to each truck if they were more similar

You would almost have to get the biggest engine possible for each truck and the best off-road package available for each truck to make it a fair comparison

Off-Road.com, if you get the air suspension you don't get additional springs. The air bags are the springs. So if you want the coil suspension you can't have the air springs. It's one or the other.

Offroad shootout featuring 2 loaded trucks and one fairly basic with leather. Where's the Rebel? FX4? Maybe an All-Terrain? Wouldn't that be a more apt comparison for offroad testing?

2017 Ram 1500 Tradesman regular cab longbed V8 Hemi ...I bought it out of frustration after 18 months of going to dealerships trying to find a Ford or Chevy half-ton ,long-bed ,regular cab, V8 work-truck.....never considered Ram until I saw several sitting on a dealers commercial vehicle lot....not what I wanted but my Ford F150 was sitting at 187 thousand miles and starting to leave a trail of pieces and drips everywhere it went. After two years of driving the Ram WOW power leg-room and comfort and towing I have never gotten out of Ford or Chevy 82K miles and it still feels brand new even with blue Toyota Yaris paint all over the back bumper (cell phone driver and a red light caused it)

I have the ram in crew cab. I wanted the extra interior space. Towing is a lower priority. When i do its only a couple atvs. I think they are all nice nowadays. I probably would have been happy in anyone.

Dump the fancy low profile tires, the wheels that make the truck look like a Cadi, and dump the chrome. In harsh Michigan winters, fancy is not practical.

Need an updated version of this video once the ram sxt comes out in the next few years!

If the Ford feels light does that mean it can carry more then it's weight and does that mean it's powerful and if the ram seems heavy does that mean the engine is having trouble with its weight

get it with 3.92 gears and tow a lot more. The 3.21 gears are the limit for the rams tow rating.

Whenever a vehicle has fancy air ride , its only good for about 7 years. Examples Landrover...Mercedes. the heck with Dodge give me that Silverado!!

I drove them all before I purchased and you can't really go wrong unless it's a tundra lol. I got a chevy and it has been a great truck the ram was a close number two. In the end I just got a better deal for the options I wanted.

10 speed was co-engineered by gm and ford(just so you know), but nevertheless the Ford was not an FX4, all the trailers weighed different amounts, top engines in ram and ford used but not chevy, off road suspension is supposed to be a lot stiffer so you don't bottom out(z71). Overall I did not think that this was a fair comparison for any of them, but I will respect your opinion in trucks, as everyone has there own opinion.

Unfortunately the IRS considers these to be family vehicles instead of work trucks because of the reduced bed length and increased passenger space, so you can’t take a full deduction for business use. I can’t believe the manufacturers could have known this because they are building very few with extended vs crew cabs. I’ve been to 6 dealers and all they have are crew cabs.

YOu should try driving the 1991 4X4 W-150....Rides like a tank, but is also as tough as one....

I’m glad someone pointed out how the Ford interiors feel cheap plastic wise. Plus try to find a nice f150 without a b pillar filled with paint swirls right on the dealer lot too. I still think the fords are nice but I overall like the ram better. A ram with the the 3.92 with the 5.7 is a winning combo. You really can find deals on the ram 1500. Can’t say that about the ford. As far as I’m tracking the ram is the only one offering factory extended warranty. Too me that says something there. Love the hate the ram gets but this isn’t the same truck from the early 2000’s ford fan boys.

You need to do an apples to apples comparison, test the Chevy with the 6.2 in the High Country. How can you even call it comparable when the ram is only capable of towing 7750 lbs.

The only thing that matters while driving in snow is traction and heated seats or steering wheel.

I feel like I'll never get an unbiased answer to this, but I'm in the market. As I have no brand loyalty to speak of, all 3 of these are realistically in the running (I refuse to buy outside of the former big 3 though). I plan to drive it for 10yrs+. This'll be my first actual truck I've owned (some SUVs and cars before). I won't be doing much, if anything, of the typical modding either like tires, lift kits, suspensions, etc. At most I can see like a tuner chip or something to bump some performance aspects. It'll be mainly a daily driver mostly urban but eventually mixed with country roads. I may occasionally haul stuff like soil, trees, bricks, etc (weekend warrior type stuff) and tow very little ever barring maybe a boat or flat trailer with a tractor on it or something. The RAMs are kinda ugly to me but they obviously have a lot of things going for them. Fords EB worry the hell out of me for longevity and the alleged fact that they're always working harder to do much. I keep hearing mixd things every review I watch/read and these comments always seem to fill exclusively with biased fanboys. Obviously I'll test drive before I buy, and that may tell me more than I'm expecting alone, but how do I decide?

You want a true comparison of power use GM top of the line truck like you did with ford and dodge. You need to use a Sierra Denali with a 6.2 liter and 8 speed. Not a fair comparison to Chevy.

You should have tested the long horn instead of with 4 corner air suspension. Surprised your going with the ram to go off road, i would stay away from air suspension on highway and off, hear crazy stories of them loosing air and loosing control.

In fords defense the tires I believe very by dealership where you get them from because we have one like that but our dealership uses hancook tires and another one near where I live uses good years

Air suspension does not "spread the weight around". You can test that at a scale.

You didn't highlight the Chevy's off road information on the dash which is the same as the Ford's

You can't turn off the Ford's traction control completely by holding the button longer, you still have to pull the fuse for that.

That air suspension is nice, but this segment of trucks really is about daily fuel economy. So for that I’ll take the Ford. Nice review though

I just got 2015 Gmc Sierra 6.2l all terrain for 38500, 23000 miles on it. So far it's great! Just got it a week ago, payments are 245.00 a month. Truck will be paid off in 10 months. But also money down and trade in too, aka crosstrek. I had 2005 duramax. Great truck payments not so nice 500++. (Back in 2012) If your on a very low budget. Dont buy a 65000 truck. Knowing your going to hate it in s year....bc ur payments are soo high!! Always have your ducks in a row before you make that decision when you go to a dealer.

All 3 are good trucks , you don't want the air suspension on the Ram if you live in an area where you can have really cold winters.

How can you even compare these trucks. I dont even have a favorite but if you put a 35,000 truck vs 65,000 what the hell do you think is going to be the outcome.

Your video isn’t about comparing which is better just which you like 😂 and one thing is how it will ride while towing you will need to set up the right hitch cuz there not the same hight it’s all about where your hitch sits

I have a 2017 Ram Rebel that is rated to tow a bit over 10K. You were not really comparing apples to apples all and all. If you were working the luxury truck options then you got 2/3 to show (Ram and Ford). If you were doing an off road contest then you only got 1/3 to show (the Chevy.)
