2018 Honda Civic Si - The Civic you SHOULD buy

The 10th Generation Honda Civic comes in five different versions. I've driven the sedan, coupe, hatchback, the Type R and finally the Civic Si. This would defiantly be the Civic that I would get. You have 4 doors for practicality, the performance, and the looks and a reasonable price.

For those complaining about the lack of volume knob, there is are a set of physical volume buttons on the steering wheel. I always use them.

"But now (with) the Type R around, is there still room for the SI?" Si
@reaperactualgaming3075

The Type R is ugly. They screwed up IMO by only offering the R in a sedan/hatch. They really should of made a coupe.... I went with my 18 Si over a Type R specifically because the Si coupe looked much better.

Reaper Actual How’s the 18 si coupe? I’m looking to get one as my first car but i don’t know if i should get the coupe or sedan
@reaperactualgaming3075
@reaperactualgaming3075 4 года назад
@@lilhec1116 the coupe is awesome imo. I really don't often have anymore than 1 other person in my car which is good because the coupe has some very small backseats. If you have kids or anything definitely get the sedan. But otherwise if it's mostly just you cruising def go for the coupe. I think they look alittle better. But again it's all subjective. You won't go wrong with either.

Just bought one this week, best car I have ever owned by a long shot. I've driven old si's with VTEC and I always felt a little disappointed with them. But the turbo in this one makes a world of difference! If you're prepared to buy a new car and you're interested in this one; take it for a test drive. You will not regret it.

There is always room for the SI. I always found the Type R to be a track focused vehicle, designed for a better lap time, not a daily driver. The SI is one you get if you want a Type R but also want the practicality of a standard Civic.

Drove a SI last week and what a great car for $25K. Finally Honda put a normal looking dash. No more two tiered funny looking dashes. It's weird with out a volume button but the Lane watch is cool. I use those convex mirrors on all my cars. My first car was a 1989 CRX Si. Back when Honda made fun cars. Thankfully they are doing that again.
@MattShock23

Regarding lack of volume knob, we have a '17 CR-V and while it does have a volume knob, it also has the same volume rocker switch that the Si appears to have. If it works the same way as the CR-V, you can slide your thumb up and down the that switch to raise or lower the volume. You can also push on the switch to change the volume of course. So, to lower the volume quickly, all you have to do is slide your thumb down the face of the rocker switch. The volume lowers quickly and easily. He mentions a 2-step process for muting, but it's actually quite quick and easy if you use the switch on the steering wheel.

Very nice review. Glad to see more Canadian car content on RU-vid. I just wish you would've used only the Canadian Si model for the video, because otherwise people may get the impression that the Si comes with optional LED low beams. Only in Canada does the Si have LED low beams. In the States, it comes with halogen projectors. In some of your shots you got Canadian front end of the car, while in others, you have the generic US shots with halogen headlamps.

Simple Hondata addon and you get +6psi for around 232hp / 240lb/f in sport mode, or +9psi for around 270hp and 276lb/f (and a blown stock clutch). Pretty big jumps for a plug-in upgrade.

Joseph Belfi I agree, not having a physical volume knob would almost if not most def be a deciding factor in a car purchase for me. I like the positive feedback when i change the volume, not this touch-screen-like bullshit. Anybody I've discussed this with agrees on the physical volume knob, maybe not as much in Japan? The new 2018 accord brought the volume knob back and guess what the 18 was designed in conjunction with the US, specifically in CA

I've been in the market for a 2018 Honda Civic si and was wondering what type of fuel you put in it. I know the owner's manual states that the car should receive premium, but can it take regular? Furthermore, I think the car has a knock sensor that changes the ignition timing caused by the difference in the fuel quality. Still, I would like to eliminate knocking altogether to preserve the engine.

If you have driven a few Hondas without a volume knob without realizing there is a volume knob on the steering wheel then I have to say you are the knob! It's safer and easier using the control on the wheel rather then the head unit. Especially if you are driving a manual transmission.
@EverydayReviews2022
@EverydayReviews2022 7 лет назад
I never said that there was nothing on the wheel. The wheel one is not a knob, its a button and you still have to do a 2 step process to mute the volume on the head unit. How safe is that if you need to cut the volume right away and you have to look at the screen, touch the volume area and then find the area for the mute.

It’s more of a preference thing and what you’re accustomed to. Also with an actual knob, it’s easier for the passenger and the driver. It’s probably just showing my age😆 I also like a traditional shifter opposed to a push button one.

Stop living in the 90’s. Volume knobs are a thing of the past! I just recently bought a 2018 Honda Civic and the last thing I worry about is the volume knob. Besides, when you drive this car everyday you get acclimated to the touch volume and it becomes second nature to use. In addition to that, it’s looks better aesthetic wise having an all flat surface rather than a huge knob sticking out of your dash. So PLEASE STOP. Is a volume knob gonna make or break the purchase of a car? Absolutely not! There’s no need to rant about it whatsoever. Ok, now I’m done ranting about everyone ranting about this.

Is this 2017 or 2018 civic si?

I really want to get the Si but the fact that it has no volume knob and the rear looks a bit off to me, are making me second guess myself.

No volume knob takes about 1 month to get over it. The steering wheel controls are what I primary use. I'm not defending Honda here, but it's by no means a dealbreaker. As for the rear end. Completely agree, but if you can trade off some practicality, the Coupe rear end looks better.

I just can't get over how bad the Civic hunchback rear ends look. Just make it look more like a small wagon and not a lift back look for all civics. Mazda 3 wagons is a example.

I don't think the fact that it doesn't have a volume knob is a big deal. And I have an Si 2015 coupe.

Honda Civic Si or Honda Civic Sport Touring? I prefer the hatchback, but I was surprised to find that the Sport Touring model is more expensive than the Si! With the Si, you can only get a sedan or a stylish (but less practical) coupe, but it must have much sportier parts and underpinnings, right?
@stevenjames1138

But I don't understand why is Honda charging more for the Honda Civic Sport Touring hatchback.
@stevenjames1138

Yeah. I hear ya. I guess I just don't understand why Honda would have some options available on other trims but not available on the Si models. Oh well. I guess I'd rather save some money and get the better performing car, despite missing out on some tech options.

In reality the SI is 20K+ less. You can't touch the typeR for sticker price. They're easily going for 10k over sticker. Higher in most areas.

Trading my 2016 Tacoma TRD for this car next week. Way rather have a sporty SI to hold my equity and not a truck.

Are those led headlights a dealer option? Since on Honda's website you can't add it on when you build your own that's why I ask.

I think the coupe looks better than the sedan, it’s like they styled the sedan more subtly since it’s meant to be more practical.
@subvet3668

No kidding, the sedan is hideous from the rear. What the heck were the designers thinking ? I'm hoping the 2019 refresh loses those and brings it more in line with the rear of the coupe. Would be nice if they offered Navigation and LED lights as an option as well. I would be thrilled if they offered this in a hatchback at some point.

Canadian versions get LEDs. U.S. versions get stuck with halogens. He was splicing his video and Honda U.S. marketing video together.

Who cares about the volume knob. You have buttons on the steering wheel. And an on/off button if you need to "mute" the radio. I think it makes things a little more simple. So many cars now have a volume button on the touch screen and a volume knob which is dumb and just a distraction from the road. Use the steering wheel buttons.
