i have the 19 manual of this car - volume knob check, stereo is pretty good with all the speakers and sub. I fill with reg gas, and premium is recommended not required. Easy on the gas and you'll beat the mileage posted, on the other hand, floor it, when in the right gear, and you'll have a smile. Me, 2 passengers, and a mountain bike, inside....Yes its doable.

I have this in 6-spd manual (in Canada) - it's such a fun city car and so cruisy on the highway. The turbo is pretty much on-demand in any gear which gives it a lot of character. Feels sturdy but light weight, low and wide. Sound system is booming, this model comes with a nice (not too loud) sub woofer. I'm a big fan of this year's model and I think a lot of other people are too; I get so many compliments which I never expected!

Excellent review once again, Justin. The problem I have with the higher trims of the Civic is the requirement for premium fuel which in this age of higher fuel prices is definitely a big minus in my opinion.

jabbadahuttful I think only the Sport and Sport Touring recommend premium to get the rated mpg and hp. Unfortunately you are spending more money on gas and have less mpg.

That’s why I went for the base LX. Only a 6hp penalty (and it has gobs of torque just like the upscale engine). What do I miss? An obnoxious exhaust. An annoying push button start. Sunroof... I guess (doesn’t work for headroom in my case) ... power seats (that break)... fog lights (who cares?) and maybe Sirius radio or some nonsense I’ll never buy. That and a 6 speed manual means more $$ in my pocket. Love filling up for less than $50... 600+ km per tank.

It's only a 12 gallon tank. You'll be spending maybe $2 more for a tank of 93 over 89.

@@Bartonovich52 I'm confused cause this car has a 12 gallon tank so you really shouldn't be anywhere close to 50 bucks to fill it. my corolla has a 13 gallon tank and I fill it with around $25

I decided to go for the LX hatch which was quite a bit cheaper in the same colour blue. Missing compared to higher trims are 6 hp, the need to use premium fuel, dual zone climate, sunroof, leather, lane watch, power seats, bigger rims and tires, fog lights, navigation, push button start, adaptive cruise and lane keep assisti, and led lights (probably a few other things). But it has the important things like automatic climate, Apple car play, backup camera, heated seats, alloys, and the turbocharged engine-all things you typically have to go up market for in Honda. The 1.5L engine is super torquey... and with my 6 spd manual I’ll usually keep it in top gear at any speed above 60 km/h. In top gear it can cruise.. accelerate... climb hills... pass... pass up hills... all without downshifting. Almost unheard of for a four cylinder car and certainly for a traditional Honda. Fuel mileage is excellent averaging about 6.3l/100km mixed and as high low as 5.0l/100km on the highway.

I was talking to my local dealer apparently you can put normal grade fuel in and the computer will change it so it runs at the same 174 hp as the lower end ones but if you have some money to burn you can put the premium in for extra performance

The LX version of the hatchback has much quieter tires. The Kancook Kinergy GT have enough grip for agile/spirited driving and the car runs on regular gas. Overall I think the LX version is a pretty sweet car.

Carl Dupnt this tester was on some sort of Dunlop's if I'm not mistaken. Sticky but noisy.

That’s what I have. They’ll be cheaper to replace, too.

YOU DONT NEED A VOLUME NOB IF THE VOLUME CONTROL IS ON THE STEERING WHEEL! KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL.

As a passenger in the right seat... I’ll remember that when I want to change the volume. #facepalm

@@Bartonovich52 just use the volume slider or don't touch the volume control easy and simple.

True. I actually almost considered the lack of volume knob a strong enough reason not to buy this car. Now owning this car for ~6 months I can say it's not an issue at all. I have another car with a volume knob that I also drive so I can compare.I find steering wheel volume controls work better for me in most cases (except during a steep turn). My wife finds volume knob more convenient for a passenger she has zero issues using the touch-screen volume control.

As an owner of this car, I'd say the bigger oversight is the lack of a physical Play/Pause button. If in any other screen other than music (e.g. navigation, etc.) there is no way to stop and start music. The best you can do is mute, which requires two taps -- hitting the volume display, then hit the small "mute" button that appears below it. Any other owners find a workaround for this? Otherwise, agree the Sport Touring has a FIRM ride due to the 18" low profile wheels, but am otherwise completely happy with the car.

If this car was offered as a 6M trans in the USA, I would have bought it. Alas, Honda didn't think that American buyers would buy that car. I mean, why would anyone want a SPORT and TOURING model in a manual transmission?

John Labus yahhh the 2020 year model is coming with a manual 🥳

I think you don't know what Touring means. At least in Honda parlance. It just means it has every feature standard combined from the lower models. Has nothing to do with traveling.
@LiteralSparkPlug
@LiteralSparkPlug 3 года назад
typically touring is the car that has all the features for the person looking to go on a long trip.

What I'd like to know is how well it takes corners. I'm not too concerned with understeer (there's plenty of that in my Impreza), but more about body-roll.
