What does a Los Angeles Port Police officer do?
As California peace officers, Los Angeles Port Police officers enforce federal, state, local public safety statutes, and environmental and maritime safety regulations at the Port of Los Angeles and surrounding area communities. Officers are responsible for patrol and surveillance of the 7500-acre Port complex by watercraft, helicopter, automobile, motorcycle, and bicycle. Highly regarded among specialized law enforcement agencies, the primary goal of the Port Police is to maintain the free flow of commerce and produce a safe, secure environment that promotes uninterrupted Port operations.
