2018 15" MacBook Pro First Impressions! In this video I discuss with you why I got rid of the 2015 MacBook Pro Retina for the 2018 MacBook Pro 15" 512GB and discuss my first take on the device, if you have a new MacBook Pro share your thoughts, questions, comments, concerns, and enjoy the content :)
Sweet initial review, Nick ! Looks like a powerful, wonderful - if pricey - beast ! 👹 A couple questions: 1) For the kind of work U do (video and photo editing), what are the *most* important aspects in a CPU ? * power level/wattage (Core i5 vs i7), * clock speed, Or * # of cores (dual-core vs quad or six-core) 2) How important is the discrete graphics card/GPU (I know it's crucial for gamers, but is it for content creation?) ? 3) How are U finding Palm rejection on that huge trackpad ? (some say it's not great) TIA...
@@shashankpathak-s6y He's talking about the new MacBook Pros that came out in July. So yes, they're not "as new" as the new Airs, but they're still the latest MBPs.
I personally hated the touchbar when I tried one. They only make the keyboard worse and annoying. I hate pressing a touchscreen for my keys. Only add up price and battery life
I agree!! Some will either love it or hate it. I just wish Apple would offer an option with or without the touchbar for the 15in like they do with the 13in models.
@@nickackermanchannel I am a beginner to coding and video editing also i was on a strict budget so got the 13 inch... Love your videos by the way nick!!
@@Lyfhaxx wise choice for a beginner. i'm using early 2015 MBPr 13 inch. it works how it should be and just right for my need. both iMovie and FCPX are easy to grasp
I almost bought a 13” with 16 gigs of ram and and i7 but I ended up getting the 15” because for an extra 100 dollars you get 2 extra cores in the cpu, better graphics card and a bigger screen
MacBook Pro 13” or 15”? For Photoshop / Programming / WWW maker / Some Photos It will be enought 13” i5 / 16 gb / 512 gb or for some more $ switch to 15” i7 / 16 gb / 512 gb / 560x ( vega 16 / 20 )? Can You compare graphic card this boost any programs? Will not there be such a big difference in work on these programs to pay up to 15”?
The thunderbolt ports are not that bad when you have all the accessories for it. eGPU, storage, and LG displays for Apple. Not all at once. That is a lot of money.
Nick Ackerman the thing is in time how this will keep up cause if you spend so much money for a laptop you expect it to be flawless for next at least 5 years
I'm a student at the moment. I use my current 2014 MacBook Pro '15 for studying, once in a while a bit of editing on photoshop..but that's pretty much it. I've been as well eyeing in lately on the new iPad Pro '12.9 You reckon it's an overkill to get the new '15?
So I've got the 13" 2015 MacBook Pro base model. it's just about managed but now I'm needing a higher spec machine for running VMs and various IT tools. I have chosen to upgrade my Mac over my iPhone as I was thinking of getting XR as my 6S battery is dead. But for £25 i'll get new battery. I am leasing a new MacBook Pro with Qube Leasing. I am getting the 15" model with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and the i7 quad core. It's so important to have quad core for multitasking, maybe I'll push the specs to the i9. For working in IT and cyber security, the hardware Apple provides gives me enterprise grade reliability, high performance and an overall fantastic feeling when working. The 4 USB-C ports will provide plenty of expansion, for external displays, ethernet, ext SSD and power. The display is the most important asset on a laptop, the Truetone retina is great. I want to get back into my music production and composition so with Logic X I can start making some music again! Nope not needed this thing is a rocket already these Vega graphics are not needed this rendered a 15 minute video is 4 minutes flat how much more do we really need?
Aloha Nick I like your videos a question I have 2018 MacBook Pro as well. And do you have a video out for Final Cut to learn ? Please let me know? I want to learn how to video edit. Thank you kindly.
Hello there thank you for your question, I do not on this channel, but check this video out for help 👍🏻ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NPbBDs67aCY.html I will be giving further updates on this MacBook pro soon
The one thing I can’t get over is the no Cd/DVD player.Where I love those are really popular for movies and music so a laptop without that drive I basically an enlarged tablet with a keyboard.
Seems to me like you have Laptop G.A.S, haha. Just saw your why 2015 MacBook purchase video, and now rebuying another MacBook so soon. It’s alright happens to the best of us 😅.
@@neues3691 Because Windows is not proprietary and you don't have proprietary software on Windows? As with any desktop OS, you can run both proprietary and open source software. If you're really a masochist, you can just go with Linux.
Bruh you should of seen me when I finally got the cash for one.i went to the apple store screaming! SWIPE MY CARD NOW, BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND!!!!! it was so expensive I kept changing my mind every second.
I seriously considered the windows options, the deal breaker is the render times are much slower in video editing which really all I needed to get good videos out quicker 👍🏻
@@nickackermanchannel also windows is a mess. I hate apple for being really greedy and bad with repairs (they call themselves environment friendly..) But also specially now windows is a huge mess. I use Linux on my laptop! It's a 800$ ux430ua. I can't afford anything else sadly :c
D C seems like every RU-vidr/Creator out there was in a dash to return their MacBook Pro for the Vega 20 GPU upgrade, makes sense in a way if your constantly editing videos/photography and want it future proof for Many years to come. Impressive that it can actually game very well, but overly expensive though.
Aviation Enthusiast well its the same experience across all devices so would make sense. I would assume people would use Windows more. It’s already used way more. iPads I get it. Apple dominated the tablet industry. And iphone. iOS iphone is just better than android.
Do on programming or coding software which is used by degree student in mac os vs windows laptops under the 1500 dollars do SOME MYTH BUSTING ON MAC OS WHICH WINDOWS USERS... Do about the doubt on microsoft word or powerpoint how can they used in mac os easily ... They THINk IN mac os the word or programming software cant be used easily they had to be cracked for using the software DOUBT PLEASE MAKE A DETAILED VIDEO.
Yea, Vega is the way if your buying a new MacBook Pro, gaming is now impressive, especially if you boot camp into windows, and it now powerful enough to be called a real “pro” model. Allot of people that got the previous GPU versions are returning or making special exchanges for the Vega GPU. Not saying that the 560x isn’t great, but it’s just way behind other same priced PC laptops.
