Osaka then stated, “I know that everyone was cheering for her and I’m sorry it had to end like this. I just want to say thank you for watching the match,” Osaka said. While looking at Serena “It was always my dream to play Serena in the U.S. Open finals so I’m really glad I was able to do that. Thank you.” this is the champ true tennis fans deserve
kingrobinho.....yes, at this stage of her career. She is barely into her 20s and Serena is nearing her 40s.....with a LOT more hardware. Saying she is "much better" without a qualifier is just slight hyperbole.
J. Cole, 'didn’t play anywhere near her Best'?, or is it that her best days are evidently over...not that she needed reminding here, @36 or 37 with a newborn to be breastfed daily, she be better off in full-time mothering.
I agree that Ms.Williams knew, with the wry smiles, when in the immediate past she would have been clinical with her finishes. She however looked cleaner and more prepared today than Indian Wells granted that that was her first big tournament back out in the ' arena '.
Golden Kingdom people saying Osaka didn’t deserve the Grand Slam title not even knowing Osaka wooped Serena before. Some idiots will always remain pathetic
Yep. Somehow people love to think Serena "deserved" to win when clearly Osaka just plays phenomenal tennis. Incredible how ignorant people can be when someone makes a lot of noise.
It's that quick bow before the handshake that's got me here. That level of respect is just rare these days. Can't wait for the US FINAL tomorrow... #teamosaka
I thank Serena for causing such a stir with her outburst. I would have never heard of Naomi or watched her play. What a talent and great personality to match. Tennis is exciting again.
Sasha has brought Osaka's game to a new level. She always had the power but would hurt herself with unforced errors. Now she is consistent and patient, she is playing incredible. She also wins the big points like Serena. She hits close to 120 mph serves for aces. I'm sure since Sasha was with Serena all those years he must have jumped at the chance to coach Osaka who is like a young version of Serena.
+Bagus Degus ..dan oleh sebab itu mengapa James Blake sempat protes mengenai hal itu ... serena 8 times champ, smtr bye di dapat oleh pemain yg kebanyakkan ga memiliki prestasi wow di dunia tenis.
Osaka looks like the real deal. Nice to watch a game without much complaining from Serena...Osaka was a class act just like in the US Open final...her class reminds me of Wayne Gretzky... I hope Serena is a better sport the next time they play each other.
Dan deguzman Japanese people do that when they greet you. Usually they bow lower. I used to work with Japanese people. Osaka just imitates the Japanese bowing. She grew up in the U.S..
This was a tough one for me. I am a huge Serena fan and I want to see her get some matches under her belt so she can get back into form. At the same time, I think Osaka is brilliant and I'm so excited for her and the future of women's tennis. She's going to be a grand slam champion very soon! (not to mention she's a sweet thing). It's just such a shame Osaka wasn't seeded here (the ATP uses the most updated rankings for Miami seeding so why not WTA? This showdown wouldn't have happened because Osaka would have gotten a bye if they used the updated rankings). It's just so conflicting. Serena needs match play to start her comeback and finish off her career, while Osaka needs to begin her career as a champion after winning her first big tourney. Love both of them and Congrats to Osaka!
Naomi is going to be a good grand slam champion. I love her humility. She is so humble and gracious, yet so ferocious on the court. I only wish she can realise how good she really is, as a tennis player.
Jeeeze, i love her! She.s so humble and sweet. Every brand in the world will want to work with her. I hated to see her cry after she won.. it should.ve been the happiest time of her life. She was sorry for winning.😔 She's a champion!😊
I am an avid Williams fan, and watching the greatest of all time lose, anytime frustrates me. But what a joy it is to see Osaka, swinging hard, hitting big, moving brilliantly and mastering herself! Bravo! I am rooting for Osaka and Venus to take Miami!
Margaret Court is in her 70's. How did you watch the Greatest of all time lose? Margaret has 24 slams. Serena is still playing at 39 because she knows how important 24 is. Serena is almost ready to be called the co-goat with Margaret. Right now shes 2nd fiddle.
Good win from Osaka. She was very composed throughout. Handled the pressure well. Serena seems to still be finding herself. It may take some time. Looks to be heavy footed and a bit too 'in her head', causing errors. I have faith she'll find a way back. I mean look at Venus. She's playing amazing.

in her current form she is THE player to beat right now. at times in the match against serena, naomi playing at a level that looked unbeatable. her ability to redirect the ball, from either the forehand or backhand side, is incredible. more importantly, she appears to be really focused on the court right now. a focused naomi *is* scary. you've got to think that svitolina is not loving the draw that she got.
@bd3n21: in past matches, naomi has played tough against halep, most of the matches went to 3 sets. the difference was naomi's tendency to become negative. that seems to have changed. naomi really didn't come from "nowhere"; people have known that she had the game for years. what she didn't have was the right mindset to capitalize on it.
@bd3n21: did you really expect cahill to tell halep: "you can't beat naomi"? i agree that in the match at the bnp paribas open, halep was not playing well. but naomi was also playing better than she had in previous matches and didn't give halep a chance to get into the match.
bd3n21 I dunno... I've had my eye on Osaka for a couple years now. I have the same feeling about her as I did when Nadal came on the scene. If she's getting it together, I think she might be ready to be a #1 contender. Osaka is already up to #6 on the year. Svitolina reminds me of many 2nd tier players who will always make it to the quarters or semis of a grand slam, but never break through. I could be wrong, but I get that sense. Like a Tim Henman type.
Tough draw for Serena, going up against Osaka when she's playing the best tennis of her career. She played a decent match, but I hope that she's able to focus on her footwork before the clay court swing.
This performance must have weighed heavily on Serena's mind at the US Open as much as the expectations of winning. She realized at the beginning of the match that Naomi wouldn't be swayed by sentiments but battle to win.
I have fallen in love with this girl's humbleness and that's the true sportsmanship which is going to take her a long way no doubt !! I love the way Serena has kept her stamina til now and reigned the court for so many years. This time too, to reach and play in final is not a small thing. Let's appreciate both and give them their due respect. Naomi is definitely the new bright star in the horizon who's going to shine for many more years to come.
Serena got a coaching warning from the chair and the Bitch went nuts “How dare you challenge me you owe me an apology“ she thinks that the umpire owes her an apology ,Yelling say it -say it so the chair took a point from her ?? Who the fuck does she think she is Ban the Bitch ,Penalize her end of story Serena Williams exhibited no gratitude -no appreciation -no humility -no respect bullying selfish entitlement Serena Williams is an ungrateful bitch and should be penalized /punished
@@oliverphippen1957 she is champion of champions, that's who she is. She does not only 'think' she knows that and you know that. Her winning of 24 grand slams says it all. The real question is "Who the fuck do you think you are?"
GeorgeHenryThomas the reason why it took her so long to come back not to mention she’s 100 kilos and that is not suspicious because after a c section all pregnant women where cuffs after there to prevent a blood clot fortunate for Serena after her Surgery you felt it.
5 months later, and Serena has bounced back in a BIG WAY, reaching the US Open Final. Her opponent? Naomi Osaka. Serena will have to play her best match in 5 years to beat Osaka. I expect a very high quality match on Saturday.
Serena needs to find balance, she's still way to heavy, and can't position herself perfectly... Hoping to see her at the top very soon! In the meantime I'll be cheering for Vica, she's was on 🔥 today! 😊
When you have a baby, you can lose your sense of core balance for a while. It really takes 9 months to a year for a woman to fully recover from childbirth.
delirous8 shut up. It's a CHOICE not a disability to have a child. Last I heard men can't have kids. Stanley obviously adopted it. Not fooling anyone with his surgery.
Serena let her win. Serena has proven she's the best that has ever done it. It's great to see a young Haitian as well as the greatest of all time African American take tennis to a new level. Serena your giving this young lady the chance to show her skills to the world Congratulations your a great sport.
So the advantages they have over each other. SW: Serve Backhand Experience Net play Mental strength Osaka: Forehand Stamina Serve trajectory Nothing to lose mindset They are both either equal in speed, return of serve and power. If Osaka keeps her cool, gets 1st returns in play and gets more Forehands in rallies, she has a solid chance. SW needs to keep Osaka pinned in Backhand to Backhand exchanges and bring her to net not on her terms. I'm rooting for Osaka, she's seems very sweet and humble
Dont forget that Serena is the greatest entertainer in tennis. This was the perfect stage to introduce Naomi to take over. Keeping entertainmentlevel high. Serena is in Naomi. She is the best to be the one to beat.
And now everyone is surprised. This had a build up. Nobody is talking about Sharapova anymore. Serena and Naomi. This was mend to happen, and Serena took Naomi to the stage. Now she can mind Olympia.
Let's be fair: Serena has survived a death scare more than once with blood clots during her pregnancy and she had a baby and missed competition for more than a year. She even won the AO 2017 while pregnant! To date, no other player, male or female has gone through what she has and come out on top. That being said for Serena: (1) Lose weight, (2) Improve movement, (3) Cut about 10 UEs off of her game and this and other matchups will be a different story. Naomi showed great game and maturity in winning this and other matches previously. The question is: Can she do so consistently enough to win slams and get to #1? That being said: I MUCH like her better than Sloane who I think has the lousiest attitude on the tour. That being said: How will Osaka match up against Keys, Kerber, Wozniacki, Azarenka all of whom destroyed her the last time they played?
Bud Morries Give Osaka some credit here... I love Serena, she’s my all time favorite player, but Osaka is on FIRE! She’s playing insanely good and has a good chance to show us some more fantastic tennis
Connor: I AM giving her credit. I LOVE watching Naomi play and I have told all of my friends about her and they love her as well. When she wiped the floor with Pliskova, Sharapova, A.Radwanska, all of whom were never pregnant and with blood clots and some of whom were drug addicts. Naomi has ALL of the weapons to be #1 and be a GS winner and I really hope that she gets there but the players that have beaten her regularly are the ones that I mentioned. Naomi is: Haitian/African American and Japanese, and holds a dual citizenship. She's the perfect poster child for the WTA. But....can she remain consistent enough to accomplish these lofty goals....? But I still like her MUCH better than Sloane!!!!! That being said: At least Serena gave her more of a fight than Halep who lost 6-0 in the 2nd set and she's supposedly the #1 player in the world....
@@amadeus5403 Japanese women won FIFA (football) World Cup in 2011 and just recently a U20 World Cup. If you think the japanese mentality and competitiveness didn't play a role in her playing, then you're one clueless racist bigot, I'm afraid.
I wasn't aware that Osaka beat Serena so easily the first time they played. This speaks volumes of the meltdown, racket smashing etc...someone younger and better always comes along however Serena is too egotistical to go out with grace or give someone else their due, instead she whined, kicked and screamed and played the race card. Her legacy has been greatly diminished with this behaviour IMO. Congrats to Osaka the better player and human being !!
I think both of us are reviewing Osaka's previous tournaments after her AO victory. I saw your comments on other videos as well. Now, I saw your comment again over here this time. I only knew who Osaka was when she beat Serena at Indian Wells. But I wasn't aware she beat Serena again before the US Open! Now I'm forming a conclusion in my head: At the last US Open, Serena already knew that Naomi was more powerful than her, that she could lose her bid of 23rd grandslam to Naomi, having beaten her twice. Therefore, she and her coach talked about the hand signals prior to the match. They already had an understanding. But the umpire caught them cheating. But Serena made herself looked like innocent by accusing the umpire of different things. If I would choose to describe Serena at the US Open, I would choose the word DESPERATE. Desperate to win her 23rd grand slam. His coach admitted the coaching. Therefore, I can conclude there was an understanding between them. Serena said she didn't see the hand signals? I highly doubt it. Why? A coach wouldn't be so dumb to make a hand signal if his player wasn't looking. Fast forward to the Australian Open, Serena absorbed the most humiliating defeat in tennis. The lady who she robbed of the moment, rose to number one. Everyone can learn from this. Humility will take you to greatness. Narcissism will put you to where you belong, to the dust.
..and that's youth. Serena continues to contribute to tennis by young woman like this emulating her game. That's when you know you're GREAT. Well done Naomi. Continue to play with passion and love for the game. I believe you too will make a great role model. #SerenaWilliamsGOAT #NewSTARSRising
Beating a player of Serena's quality on any day is an achievement. Hope Osaka continues her RED HOT form for some more time. These new crop of players : Osaka, kasatkina , anisimova ... are a ray of hope for women's tennis. Good talent and are peaking at a young age !!!
ok calm down she won one match against a recently pregnant lady who had to have an emergency caesarian (cut her core muscles) to get her baby out.......
Serena was CLEARLY not even close to being 100%. I would say she wasn't even half so this was like a given type win. She would have not won if she was 100, but that being said naomi is definitely going to be a beast! I LOVE her humbleness!!
She have african blood and that black african blood is what give her strength in sport , when was last time you see japanese aka samuri win in sport , while you see black athele all time wining
@@amadeus5403 no one care about samuris , I love japanese anime and culture but lets be realistic samuris were not that powerful , if we compare history , what did samuris accomplish , they were weak and lost to china empire , they couldn't defend themselves or country when forgein invasion come , compare to that weatren knights , turks , mogals , arabs umayyads , accomplished alot and grabed many lands for their empires and kings , slmaybe japan were at disadvantage cuz they were small island but still people are over lifting samuri name , when at that time many knights were braver and accomplised more victories .
It's going to be Serena vs Osaka in the US Open finals this year 2018. Osaka has a really good opportunity to win if she just keeps her cool. It is the US Open after all and we're talking about Serena here. Then again, Osaka did beat her in Miami this year in their first meeting together. Go Osaka! And Go Nishikori too! :) REPLY

Jose Ignacio Vargas... serena makes too many errors to be Monica 2.0...by the time Monica owned Steffi, before the stabbing, she was making hardly any errors...
