i have armada 2017, do i have to go with the same procedure, or any way to have the factory serves for armada 2017 ? because i couldn't find it online

Yes, 2017 and on is the second generation of Nissan armada, so the procedure will be the same until they change the model year to a different design. Good luck with your project!- Mike

Can you just do the final top off with the engine running? I don't have the fill adapter and i used a hand fluid extractor to add the fluid. With the engine off, it dumps fluid. With the engine running, it dribbles three drops then nothing more. I replaced the cooler lines due to leak so I have no clue how much fluid was lost. Added 4 quarts so far. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that last addition of fluid with the engine running, you should get a decent amount of fluid coming out- maybe 1/4 quart or less. Once the drippage slows, you know it's topped off or at the right level. I would keep adding until you have this happen, just keep an eye on the temperature because it can affect the fluid level. I have a 2018 armada with 90k miles is it to late to change the transmission fluid?

Not at all. If you had transmission issues before a fluid change, it won't fix anything. If you had no transmission issues, it shouldn't cause any issues to arise. It's preventative maintenance for your transmission. It will make your transmission last longer before any issues occur. Good luck with your project!- Mike

I was under the impression that the fluid level was correct when no fluid comes out of the overflow? I pulled off the overflow plug and fluid came out. Was my transmission overfilled? I’m gonna guess I spilled 1/3 of a quart.

When no fluid comes out, it could mean it's perfect or under filled. I ended up adding 1 quart more before fluid started coming out on mine. You want some fluid to come out initially. That way, you're sure it's not under filled. - Mike

@@mikesdoityourselfwow, thanks for the fast response! I had a warmish engine and when I pulled the fill plug it came pouring out on level ground. Should I let it drain from the overflow until it stops, then drain the pan and measure only that so I can add an extra quart and not risk overfill?

@granttuma If you're letting it finish dripping from the overflow, while the engine is running and when the temp is 104F, the level should be perfect. If you're changing the fluid multiple times, then Yes, adding 1/2 quart to 1 quart extra to what you remove from the drain plug will ensure you have fluid coming out your overflow plug. I have a 2012 qx 56. Parked for 2 days and 7 qts drained out. Is that what you guys goy out on the first drain?

We have a 2005 ML500 Mercedes with 170,000 miles. Didn't buy it new. Don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed. Shifting okay. Only in the mornings, when you put it in drive, it doesn't kick right into gear, but other than that, it drives/shifts just fine. So, it's okay to change the fluid? It's been said that these transmissions are self contained, or self concealed. Something to that effect.

It's definitely OK to change the fluid, and possibly the transmission filter(s), if you feel like taking the pan off. That way, you can see if you have any built-up shaved metal anywhere. Good luck with your project!- Mike

The dealer quoted me somewhere in the $250 to $350 range. I bought all the fluid, obd2 reader, air pump, and stand pipe kit for around $800, but I can use the tools on any vehicle multiple times. So, three fluid chages and I'd be close to break even. Good luck with your project!- Mike
