Because it retains all of its turbocharged horsepower high up in the mountains, the 2018 Yamaha Sidewinder M-TX is a power-to-weight king at altitude.

I might trade in my 800 doo for it. I'm tired of filling oil and replacing pistons

You won’t be ashamed. Traded my 2014 XM Summit in for a 2016 Viper mtx and ive owned this viper new since 2016 and absolutely frigin love it. I will never ride another 2 stroke!

I love Yamahas. always high quality. it's very tight and technical where I ride, and so I had to get the right tool for the job, a summit t3 174. I Don't miss the turbo apex at all.

Dm C Unless you want to highmark and ride chutes, the added weight isn't a benefit in my opinion. That being said, if you want to ride the tight and technical, you can't beat the RMK as they are so light. The Summits only really excell out west in the deep wide open powder.

The Sidewinder is no comparison to the sidewinder. Don’t get me wrong Apex is an amazing sled but other oem got nothing on a sidewinder

Thanks to arctic cat, Yamaha has nice sleds. I’m a fan of the 2014 1100 turbo m9000. My dream sled pushes 240hp. It’s not the best sled for that year but I love it twin cylinder 4stroke Suzuki turbo. Always wanted one n finally got it this year. Every single brand sled this year is insane. So much power, light, n clean burning. I’m a diehard cat fan but I think ski-doo has the best 2023 sled
@billb8862

Yamaha’s king idc what anyone says. Theirs a reason no skidoo or polaris can make it over 8000kms on oringal engine where Yamaha’s are pushing 20,000 no issues.

@Snowmobilepage

I don't think better is the right word. But in high elevation it will climb like no two-stroke. But if you like to play in the tight trees and do more technical riding, the lighter two-strokes are just easier to handle.

Traded my 2014 Doo for a viper mtx. Wouldn’t go back. Once you get used to the weight and the handling you can take them anywhere. With style abs speed the 2 strokes can’t compete with

Far N, yeah Polaris’s are nice sleds! I used Yamaha products for a long time but the Yamacat was the nail in the coffin. Basically wouldn’t buy either Yamaha or Arctic cat after that disappointment they sold me. Hope that Polaris treats you well out there!
@masonsorensen3744
@masonsorensen3744 6 лет назад
I bet your skidoos won't make 270 horsepower, mine was on a dino yesterday running 93 octane at 270 hp to the ground. In my opinion size matters, but if u want u can go smaller, you probably can't handle anything that big anyway, I'm a built guy and am already heavy so weights not an issue, and the power balances out, and your probably down to about 70 hp at 10,000 feet and thats just a dog... ill meet u up there and we will compare or we can go to sea level, but I got 270 hp both places, theres just no comparison
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 6 лет назад
Mason Sorensen I use to think the same thing, I'll tell you right now getting rid of my sidewinder this season and going with a 2018 Mountain cat, I couldn't be happier. The weight difference is literally insane, sidehilling, tree riding etc. The best part is when you get stuck, you don't need 4 people to get it going again either. Yes for outright climbing and running chutes you can't beat the track speed the sidewinders can generate, but I just got tired of the weight, literaly.
@mikepierunek
@mikepierunek 6 лет назад
Dino, like Dinosaur? I'm confused, how did a dinosaur tell you how much power your sled has?
@masonsorensen3744
@masonsorensen3744 6 лет назад
Sorry dyno, and my Yamaha Nytro with Mcxpress turbo kit puts out 270 bad ass, unbeatable killer power at any altitude so I’ll meet u sea leve or at the top of a mountain where u only have 100 or maybe even less
@masonsorensen3744
@masonsorensen3744 6 лет назад
I actually have a Nytro MTX and the thing os a monster and tbh weights not really something I care about because I weigh 140lbs and am 17 years old, so I’m not old enough to know the difference
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 6 лет назад
Mason Sorensen It's more less how much more energy you have throughout the day thanks to an easier handling sledding. I ride the technical stuff so power isn't that much of an issue for me, sounds like we're opposites.
@ahill7866
@ahill7866 7 лет назад
Yamaha did not build that sled, they built then engine, but the chassis is all Arctic cat. That's great for the employees of Arctic Cat, but Yamaha needs to get back into building their own AND get back to building 2-Strokes. While BRP is continuing to grow, Yamaha just holds on to last place sales wise. I had a Yamaha years ago, but buying a 4-stroke is NEVER going to be in my plans. I don't care if they make a 300HP sled, not interested in a Semi-truck for a sled. Sorry.

I rode Yamaha for about 3 years (2014 Yamaha Viper) super disappointed. Spent more time in the shop then out in the snow. Highly recommend buying anything other than Yamaha, until they start taking the game more seriously

Red 06 why was it in the shop
@red0653
@red0653 6 лет назад
Brody Tippet. So the issues were oil sensor, fuel sensor, cold weather starting issues, bad vibration in deep snow, tether. The oil issue put me out of the game for about 4 months. The machine would go into limp mode during any climb that the sled lifted the skis off the ground due to “low oil” Yamaha didn’t have a fix for it and left me without a sled for 4 months, Yamaha apparently knew about this as they sold me the sled. Fuel sensor almost left me 18 miles from my truck on a perfect blue bird day which was cut short due to the sled constantly dying also took 2 weeks for them to figure it out. Cold starting issued left me on yet another ride-less day when it dropped to -15 F over night and the sled didn’t start. Which sucked because I had a couple friends counting on me pulling the trailer. Bad vibrations in deep snow was never resolved but did leave me without the sled for 1 week. The bullshit tether Yamaha sold me and installed broke after a 300 mile commute to ride with friends leaving me sitting at base camp without a sled and just embarrassed. The sled essentially made me write off Yamaha and Arctic cat. I will never buy another product from either of them again. Buying a Yamaha is a quick way for your friends to forget your number before they go out and tear up the mountains. Hope this helps and answers your question.

@@whenibecamethesun..8759 don’t know why you would say that. Some guys I knew bought 2018 2019 Polaris and they blew up. One guy bought 2 one for him and the other for his wife and they both took a crap didn’t even get 300 miles on them. Yamaha builds good motors. I’ve seen ppl with 16,000 miles and more on those things and never had any problems. Everybody sooner or later might have a few lemons it happens.

If only you could show a real rider on it for the demo videos. Not saying your bad but it’s easy to see your not a 4 stroke rider. That sleds manhandling you. Not trying to be rude just calling it out as I see it.
