I'd take the Cat. I have owned many, never let me down compared to all the guys I have ridden with over 30 years. Cat always puts the power down and handles better.... over the years. My opinion.... based on experience.
So the Cat loses on value, though you test the top iACT model and don't even use it or tell us what settings it's on? "Too stiff" come on now. We know who pays the bills
It certainly does seem odd that they would completely ignore that bit, and then make a point of mentioning "there's nothing to justify the added cost" in the Value segment.
@@einar8019 Yes, not the same as iact, which is thought by these guys to be superior. And the Polaris is 1g more than AC. Anything to keep the 1 2 3 placements
Ya well I'm a dealer.... Nothing better then an arctic cat, then the Indy, and lastly skidoo, to me and most people would agree that skidoo are not that impressive like In the early 2000s!! Owell Love our arctic cats way way more!!
Ive rode all three of these chassis, ended up buying the Renegade 600r, they are spot on, polaris front ends are very flat and settled, the Doo definately has the most nuts, cat isnt far behind in any of it but it definately is not the best especially on fit and finish, Cat had some reliablity issues this year too
@@skylermummert24 Arctic makes better sleds in every class except maybe work, like the Skandic. But don't the run a giant 1200cc 4 stroke in it now. Not exactly what I would want in deep back country. Give me the 600 ace or jus 600
I just purchased a new 2019 Arctic Cat ZR 6000 sno pro and I love it. I'm blown away by the power delivery, smoothness and overall ride quality in the heavy bumps. However, I have to agree it lacks low end grunt and the front suspension is a little stiff for light riders. I've yet to take the time to adjust the fox shocks. All in all, I do agree with all that was in the video. It's a really good sled if you're thinking about one
the springs need some bump time they allways soften up and cat allways gives you top end I had 2 zl-500s 98-2002 both stiff but on smooth let it rip flat as a table too much fun beat Yamaha 500 and 600s 2 strokes back in 1999 Polaris had to ditch the Fuji 500 and build their own 500, skidoo had to relabel their 600 into a 500 class that's when cat caught them off guard but these days its anybodys guess
Not sure if anyone has ever heard of this but back in the day there were 2 lever action 30-30 manufacturer. Marlin and Winchester, both were fine rifles and did the exact same thing. They fired a bullet that was outstanding for taking down deer. But it didn't stop people from taking sides and trying to say one was better than the other.
I just about pinned my throttle on my 2018 polaris 600 to another village that's 70 miles from mine and took me 55 minutes with 2 stops. Polaris 600 is my best choice to ride. Even running at 156°f doing 85mph had no issues.
Indy? Or Rush? I believe it. I used to get passed in my way to work heading towards Roseau b6btye same Indy 400 3 times a week or more. I'm sure he was wide open but he was close to or above 80mph in the 399cc liquid. They're stuff flies. I had an XC 700, best sled I ever had.
Its funny reading comments, Cat never gets a break, Poo always wins. If you haven't rode them all how is your opinion valid. You just vote for what you buy. Just like chevy, ford, ram. I have had them all including Yamaha which is never in the top 3. I finally bought my 1st Poo back in '12 and the switchback was the best I have ever rode. In '17 I switched and bought a ZR. Well that didn't last long. Engine performed well , suspension ok. My friend just buys Doo so riding his XRs was good it just didn't handle the way a Polaris did. Loved the engine performance of the Doo but overall I just like the Polaris. So now back to Polaris this year. As long as you have fun riding, it shouldn't matter. Ride what you suits you. They are all good in there own way.
Got rid of my 2013 ski doo sled a couple years ago for the 2016 Indy 600 sp. love it and it beats the 600 etec in a lakerun, so not sure about his more power crap. Polaris rates the Indy clean fire 120-130 and the etec is rated at 125. The clean fire is also noted as the most reliable engine you can buy. Wouldn’t that be something they would rate?
I've ridden all 3. That axys front end makes a world of difference on handling. My son has the zr6000, and it was the only sled to go back on the trailer broken with 400 miles on it. I really liked my buddies doo, but not enough to change brands for me. Polaris all the way.
That def sucks for your son. Sorry it happened. I'm not a brand loyal guy but I can tell you that a breakdown on a Zr6000 is quite rare. I ride with multiple groups and probably know of around 20sih between 2018 to current. I don't know of a single breakdown among them. One of them is at 7500 miles on the factory belt still. I don't own a zr6 but would recommend them highly to rides who fit a certain style for sure.
fuel efficiency isn't the only reason to go 600, repair bills is another possible savings point. If the 850 class engines out there prove their reliability then I agree with not understanding wanting to save just a few gas dollars. That being said the Doo 850 eats way more oil than the 600, which also costs. There are some high-mile 850s out there, but we need a few more years before we can conclusively say the 850s are reliable. the bigger issue for me is how manufacturers like to take away features and upgrades from 600s, as if us lowly low-hp people don't want or need it.
I’m not sure how these guys can rate the Ski Doo as the most fuel efficient of the three? It’s the first brand to run out of fuel on the USXC racing circuit, not being able to make a 70 mile stretch. Sorry, I don’t agree.
@@wyattbraun4146 I'm not going to praise one company over another but he didn't even mention the suspension system or what setting he was riding on. Feels biased.
So the problem is, since this video was made, Polaris has jacked up the prices of ALL their sleds. And depression hits Polaris a lot harder than Doo. So now, the value section of this comparison goes to Skidoo. Making them finish one point ahead of Polaris. I was very disappointed when I saw that Polaris had raised the prices of their sleds
I can see why people think they are bias. When you say the Arctic Cat would be more powerful if you were on the ice... what you are saying is the Arctic Cat is more powerful. Like the man said power is what consumers are most interested in and when consumers test power they line them up on ice and race. If you line all 3 up and race (the way everyone is going to do) the 2nd cheapest will win and the Polaris rider will be struggling to explain to his 2 buddies how even though he came in last place "he felt better doing it"
Many 600s pull better than the larger displacement sleds and only come up short after hitting 85-90 MPH, so this is no surprise the question is does it matter if you are doing 90+ on a trail or not
This channel is a joke. Was just riding with my buddy last week. I have the same cat and he’s got the same ski doo. He was pissed at how much easier I was taking corners than he was. I agree with everyone else. This channel seems biased. Could be wrong but every video feels that way
So if you get a 600 ACE instead of a 500 or 600 2 stroke. You know you’re saving a bit more than a couple bucks. Lose a lot of performance but good rental. When you say ski doo front suspension gets overworked I have to think that it’s for me. Rear suspension is so much more important given how close they really area. Good review. Arctic Cat loses big, yet Arctic is the race winner crisis country always stacked up top 10. Rarely a single Doo. I watch those guy on the Cats and the rear and front work so well together and loses nothing to either sled power wise. Better breaks too. Arctic Cat is just not going to make the Canadians happy. They make a heck of an airplane but it’s been a slow decline in innovation since the REav came out
Suspension adjustability? Wind deflection, appearance? Engine reliability???? Cat would be the Best hands down if these were added to the list of criteria. I guess if you make the criteria fit the formula.... you will get the winner of your choice.... decent video though guys.... thanks. Cats are damn great machines.... too bad these dudes don't get it right.... well most of the time.
Not with the skidoo 600R E-TEC direct bottom end bearing lubrication. If anything It is more reliable than arctic cat because it burns so clean that you never have to stop and change plugs.
@@sled_neckx9972 spark plugs?spark plugs? I didn't know they ever need changing anymore. We're not talking about a 1972 Rupp. I have a 99' zr 700, it hasn't fouled a plug since Clinton was president.
Boyz Burgau they do make a nice sled. I do accept and agree with that. I do not, however, accept the fact that snowtrax has them as the winner in each category/shootout. Obviously it’s their opinion and is very subjective, but come on.
This show is so bias towards polaris and Doo its literally hard to watch. the Cat has more power overall, but lets put it in 2nd because the Doo only makes good power down low.... lets also leave out the IACT suspension the cat has because thats not a great feature...
Iv driven them all artic cat is way better then almost every category... more like 14 points for the cat and 6 for both polaris and skidoo. I'm laughing because most people agree with me. Artic cat def #1 and indy 650 is second!! The indy 600 sucks compared to the ctec! Way better gas and it's way quicker off the line then an indy or a skidoo.... they don't even know what they are talking about. They definitely dont like artic cat... its more expensive.... hmmmm I wonder why!!! Hahahahahahahaha 🤯🤯🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤡🤡🤡💀☠️💀☠️
Nils Johansson They stick random bs into the battle to give points to the Polaris. In the value catergory, they just gave Polaris a Point without even really saying why or what it has to offer. Just “ oh skidoo is $100 more obviously it’s more expensive which clearly means it doesn’t have as good value” is basically what they are saying
I know this is an old video, and hope to get some feedback here. 1) IS there a video you guys have done with this same comparison but with the New Polaris 650 in the mix? Ive seen a few on just the 650 by itself, but no side by comparison. 2) I hear a lot of people saying dont by Cat now, would you agree with that sentiment, and if so why? 3) Is the Yamaha and Cat THAT similar to leave it out? Or is it just that far behind these three?
nothing matters more than power. handling comfort ect can all be adjusted and tuned with aftermarket. The driver and his skills matter more than any handling. fact. reliability matters too. and Yamaha is the Best at this period. But yes you guys are biased, if even for your own reasons and way too many catagories. POWER. Reliability. Price. all thats needed
Love the vid‘s guys. I Just picked up a 2017 ZR 6000 RR. It only has 80 miles on it!!!! Just wondering if you guys were running that iPone oil in it when you reached 10,000 miles or were you running the Arctic Cat eTech oil. I know the new oil pump requires the E tech oil but wasn’t sure if you guys changed it or if that would harm it. I know you guys said it was pretty much bulletproof so just curious.
Ski Doo's are good sleds but have one major flaw. Extremely front heavy. As in they bulldoze through the trail. Arctic Cat's are effortless yet still turn easily. Skidozer's turn great but feel like they may make a tunnel while you are riding them Is it an adjustment to balance? Possibly. But Arctic Cat's show up riding much better without adjustment.
And I have an F800 Sno Pro but had some friends with 800 Ski Doo's who wanted to do comparisons. After 20 miles of riding they honestly were pissed that they had ski-doo's. I told them how effortless my 800 was to drive and how perfect it came out of turns. They didn't buy it until they drove it. Maybe the Ski Doo's can be tweaked but direct from the factory it feels 100 pounds too heavy up front. And my stock (except studs) against their stock (except studs) head to head in a race across an open field wasn't even close. I blew their doors off.
just buy the brand you love I like snowtrax but every sled they ever test is always the greatest when tested by itself they never tell the real issues with sleds like motors which blow up because of cheap Chinese parts and saying polaris has a 4 year engine warranty it cost 2 too three thousand extra to get a 4 year warranty even a 2 year warranty cost extra that's why buying a sled with a proven history for reliability is worth a lot in savings that's why a indy 600 is a great sled bullet proof motor and clutches extremely long belt life and the stongest fastest 600 in it's class don't let snowtrax bullshit you on this it is far the best 600motor out there!
He knocked do on its best EPA motor and they only pay more money for the Doo because of that and now it’s based on value and 🤦🏻♂️ stop changing how you grade shootouts to fit your outcome
600 cc ....Thats basically what i want. A new 600 or a vintage 500 to 600 . As long as it has independant suspension. Although i'd love a leaf spring Kawasaki or a leaf spring MERC 440 Sno-Twister.
im not so sure about putting polaris 3rd in power im sure i could beat a cat or ski doo 600 with my 17rush xcr 600 just cus it older tech dont make it slow it was only like 3 years ago i seen revews on polaris 600 being the fastest.
In Finland they tested the performance of these three sleds in realworld situation and Artic-cat lost with big difference Poo and Doo were kinda side by side
Why does he say the ski-doo has an engine, but he says the polaris has a motor. Im not a genius, but dont they both run on fuel with combustion engines? The only motor on that sled is the one in the dildo attached to the seat.
The skidoo has a nervous front end because of those Junk adjustable skis Put some pilot 5.7 on that sled and it will be completely different I switched mine out
These guys are jokes always the same brands winning year after year. It's quite pathetic. I had them all and honestly the cat is a really nice trail sled and so is the Polaris but skidoo feels very touchy on the trail
Victor Coutu I own a 16 MXZ tnt 600. While it is a great riding sled with good power, not to mention it sips fuel and oil. I never feel like it has enough downward pressure on the skis and feels loose at times
@@GameFishermen I felt the exact opposite. Ski pressure was overwhelming to the point it was slowing down my turns and god forbid you crossed a road and watched your carbides disappear.
If you work with your limiter strap and shock settings you can make them feel light or heavy. All it takes is a little knowledge and a couple hours of testing to make them exactly how you like them. I currently ride a Gen 4 Renegade. After a couple rides and some tweeks it rides, turns, crosses roads all that stuff without issue.
@@slick_rickmcquick387 Yeah, I do know how to adjust them but they weren't my sleds. We rode them to the Arctic Cat dealer to test drive a Zr600. They immediately bought it just because it was perfect to start.
@@Sparty1966grad That is not possible. No sled is setup from the factory for every rider size and weight. Unless you and all your buddies are close to the same size and weight and close to what the cat is set for from the factory. Then maybe. I know all my the sleds I have bought have come with shocks and blocks set to minimum. And I setup from there. I am 6' 275 and my son is 6'2" 210. We obviously require different suspension setups on our sleds.
i have that zr 600 iact in 129 except black and grey and im very happy lets put it this way i allways feel that arctic cat has alot to hang their hat on considering how they were down back in 1982 and came back i have old magazines showing dave thompson in the air with the new eltegre and the caption read THE CAT IS BACK they are the Harley Davidson of snowmobiles and the fact they win more races fit and finish has allways been a issue in united states canada goes by loydes of london kind of quality europian way
I've been hearing reports of Polaris have running issues? They should of had a catagory for maintenance. Almost everyone I know that rides polaris and skidoo sleds admits the polaris is a better ride.?
Was a great battle until you said “fun per dollar”. I know you guys are a big fan of Polaris but i wanna see everything the sleds has to offer. Not fun per dollar that’s just an excuse to give points to the Polaris. What sled actually has more to offer? Looks like I’m finishing this battle myself. Pathetic
Eric Thompson mate they do alot more with ski doo then polaris. In finland the doo costs 16k€ brand new while the polaris xc costs 13k€. So the fun per dollar does matter.
Richard Hufferson ya I’m a skidoo rider ( but I like all brands) and I agree. The skidoo doesn’t look that good in all black BUT. Get a good colour with coloured tunnel, lower windshield and then they look way better than any ol Polaris. The new axys chassis is so overrated and it’s kinda the opposite. It looks better in black
I wouldn’t ever buy a new Polaris, it’s irritating that every video I watch from snow trax that it’s totally bias for Polaris. Actually it’s only Luke’s videos that are bias.
Have the indy but really i think its all personal choice . I may ride one way but the artic cat riders ride another way same for ski-doo. I have ridden the cat and to be quite honest i love my indy but i did enjoy the cat very much as well. the ski-doo not yet but would like to see. I find the two i have ridden to be equal in just about every way with only a few minor differences. Let you know how the indy does in a two hour 40 min race later this year. Win nope but keep up with the pack o hell ya.
They never pick the cat, also, you never ever see any arctic cat advertisements in their shows, or hardly ever anyway. Too bad, and very unfair! Every year it's the same thing, if they just change a little this or that they could possibly be at the top. Wow, really!
Depends on your experience around snowmobiles and how much money you want to dump into this sport....I would buy an older used Polaris 440, 500, or 600.
Didn’t even watch the video but I’m sure I’m rite when I guess Polaris wins and cat is last . This guy must be paid by Polaris . For all that watch these videos for honest info don’t ... cat is an awesome sled I own one and my friends own skidoo and Polaris . All the new sleds are great pick the one you like best as they are all machines and at some point will break . Snow trax do your selfs a favor and quit favoring Polaris we all can see it and it’s getting old .
J K EVERYTHING RC actually they are sponsored by ski doo and Yamaha not even artic cat and Polaris, Polaris just has the better chassis then artic cat by far
