I don't think anything has ever encapsulated the beauty and the joy of cricket like this twenty minutes of commentary. "It's six or out...it's six!" still gives me chills.
Possibly my single favourite moment in all of sports. The sheer magic of listening to this beautiful commentary, the unbridled emotion. Still gets me excited even now. Amazing summer
This is hands down my all time favourite moment of commentary - state of the match, manner of the innings, childish excitement, tension. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it!
I was at a T20 game at Worcestershire listening to this on my radio and relaying it all to the rest on the stand. Jumped up screaming when we won and the fielders stopped a celebrated as well the rest of the stand. Great memories.
I was there in the western terrace too and I genuinely dont think anything could ever top that day; the beer, the sun and the greatest innings of all time
I was at a festival, keeping half an eye on the score, not believing we had a prayer. I legged it back to the tent to catch the last half hour on radio. People thought I’d lost my mind when we won. Love hearing this again
Were you at Reading or Leeds Festival? I was at Reading and was nervously watching live score updates with our group for last 30 minutes too. Our cheer when we won was as if Rage Against the Machine had just walked on stage and confused everyone around us! The drama at the end was so intense. Greatest Test innings of all time IMHO
@@JeffLynnesBeard Haha! Nice one. I was at a small fest called Camper Caller, went doolaley when he smashed the final boundary. What a summer of cricket it was. Sigh
Was in the car driving to Bristol Airport to pick up my lad when we were down to Leach and Stokes... Sat in the carpark in a state of utter tension. Bloke in the car next to me must have thought I was nuts. What a day....
I have always loved cricket commentators Brian Johnson Richie benaud Jim Laker Henry Blofeld Jim Maxwell and Aggers is up there now hammers it for four.its six just brilliant
Contrast Aggers here, with the moment Willis took wicket #8 in 1981 when Richie says "it's all over, it's one of the most fantastic victories ever known".
@@N330AA no you misunderstand, I thought Aggers was brilliant and emotional, compared to Richies almost deadpan delivery. It's one of my favourite commentaries of all time. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just different styles.
@@terranceparsons5185 Oh sorry i totally misread. For some reason i thought you were talking about the WC winning moment which he sort of messed up unlike the Kiwi fella on Sky who nailed it. Yes Aggers is great in this, "hammers it for four". What a moment. The greatest innings ever.
Think Cook forgot he was commentating when Leach nearly got run out lol. McGrath was a great cricketer but is a terrible and bitter loser. How on earth can he say the way the game finished was poor. The LBW wasnt out anyway as DRS missed the first point of contact with Stokes pad which is what LBW's should go on and the ball was missing the stumps, which was why Wilson correctly gave it not out. McGrath should have apologised to Wilson for his criticism, especially the bit where he said he would visit him tonight, very bad attempt at humour.
