2019 Audi Q8 Review: Form and Function

The new Q8 isn’t following the footsteps of previous coupe SUVs, instead, it’s setting a new example for the others to take note of.
Things I should mention:
- The new Q8 is only available with a full time Quattro AWD system that sends 40 percent of torque to the front and 60 to the rear.
- The Q8 starts at $67k.
- The Q8 shares the same basic architecture as the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.

The thing is that when all is said and done, this is an SUV. It drives like an SUV and has much of the functionality of an SUV. Despite what its design cues are telling you, it isn’t sporty, certainly not in the way that the SQ and RSQ versions are, having said which 0-62 in +/- 6 secs is going to be performance enough for most. It is however a brilliant cruiser and versatile enough to be worth the money.

There is a really noticeable difference in space between the q8 and the equivalent a6. Especially in the rear. The a6 is cramped and uncomfortable for adults, while the q8 just feels nice.

Yes, I've heard! What I'm most excited for though is the E tron S. Too bad it's going to be a while before the US will have hopped up etrons or q8s...

@@Realistick Yes Indeed, the Volkswagen Group always treats the US market like stepchildren when it comes some of the more sporty and really practical vehicles. EXAXPLE: SKODA (the Czechoslovakian Republic arm of the VW group) has an moderately priced SUV with umbrellas stored in the front doors of the vehicle. What a wonderful idea that would be for the US market.

@@adriancooper78 Damn, that's a nice touch, just like the one in the RR Dawn! In America, car executives dumb everything down because our market doesn't seem to care for practicality (unless it's a truck).

This is so insulting!!! Why reviewing what people can see in the video????? Review and provide information that is not in the video is most relevant... this is not a review.... this is a video blog.... a review means you have to check and confirm what Audi claims about this Q8 to see if every thing is true....for example, Audi claims that this SUV drives like a sports car, so test drive it to confirm that... the only TRUE auto reviewer is Consumer Report and Motorweek.... everyone else is just another blogger who has no idea what they are talking about...SORRY. IM GIVING YOU A THUMB DOWN....

Haha, the last thing I am going to do is push a 5000 pound SUV around some corners and say "um, it doesn't handle like a sports car, audi." I provided people with the specs and features that they should know and then combined it with my own commentary about the vehicle. That's a review to me, but this is all subjective. If you think nobody is doing it right, make your own channel and show us what you think a "real" review is.

Why do you keep mentioning Subarus and Toyotas? Nobody cares about those brands.

@@Realistick I've never driven a Subaru or Toyota in my life, but I have driven an Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and some other brands. I've only owned Mercedes, BMW, and Volkswagen. People looking at the Q8 aren't interested in any of those other brands. I really liked the two Q8s I have driven. Unfortunately, the money factor they want is way too high right now and purchasing an $80-90k beta product probably isn't the best decision. Residuals on it aren't great either. You should talk about that stuff too.

@@thesoundofthesuburbs The cars I brought up in the review the most were not Subaru and Toyota, they were the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE AMG 43 Coupe. Resale would have been a good thing to mention, but as far as German luxury goes, Audis are neither notably better or worse than BMW or Mercedes (Porsche is a different story). If this were an Alfa Romeo or a Lexus then mentioning resale would be key as those are on the more extreme sides of the spectrum. Regardless, people do care about resale and I should have given it a few seconds in the review, but I did mention other premium brands many times in this review.

@@Realistick Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Man I wish you could see Hillside Avenue in Queens, New York. All those used car lots are full of BMW's, Mercedes, and Land Rovers. That tells me that those cars are hard to maintain.

@@thesoundofthesuburbs That's not necessarily true. I own a Subaru (a 2016 Outback Limited) with 130,000 miles on it at the next oil change. Prior to that I owned a 2011 Subaru Outback that I put 260,000 miles on in just 4 years. Not the most exciting to drive but tough cars.
