I'm an Audi owner and I went through a Weinerschnitzel drive thru the other day because I just don't give a fuck and I'll go to Arby's next when I get a chance.
No doubt. I thought Audi’s were boring before, but I began to appreciate and recognize the attention to detail and actually nice proportions in all their designs.
I really appreciate the fact you put focus on the chassis development and show us the underbody in your reviews. It allows us to appreciate/understand what manufacturers do.
Integrated engine cover. Making it even more difficult to remove and service your car. Sheesh! Though, I guess most Audi owners would never even look underneath the hood at all.
Tomasz Kolowca Yea just like the new C8 looks like a Ferrari clone for a fraction of the price. The Q8 starts at what, maybe $80K, tops out at what $97K? Do you know where an Urus even starts?!! Dang near a quarter mill ($250K) Granted this vehicle is for the Urus clones who can’t afford the real thing. And I personally am one of them. And options are ridiculous but I rather pay a 1/3 of the price for a product in this case comes from the same family, but the only difference is exterior and power plant. (Unless I win the lotto)
Seriously. All these large SUVs. It's the way of the world now. At least Audi are bringing most of their models over to North America now. People were BANGING the tables for Audi to give us the RS4 and RS6. Well here they are. Y'all better start buying them.

I like the, no door frames, but not the noise that you said it produced. What I did not like is the first time you stepped on it from the dead stop, I could hear the pedal hit the floor, and the vehicle just stood there, then it took off. Then there was how much you were unconnected, horrible! Thank you for selling me the Macan. And the price of the Audi??? Again, thank you for selling me the Macan. It maybe smaller, but we are only two anyway.
You could have exactly the same internal space from a normal sized car weighing far less and which actually handles and doesn't take an entire street to park! I HATE these SUV Loser-Mobiles.
I watched a few reviews here before, but apparently this is the first time I’m paying attention. I’m struck by the objectivity of the review in the first five minutes. No features are mentioned and allowed to sit on their own, everything is in context to what should be expected at this price point. That’s quite unique in car review channels. And then all of a sudden the car is on a lift and we’re looking at the bones of what makes it what it is?! OK no one does it like this. Subscribed. Thanks for what looks to be a great channel.

Who in the hell can afford this crap? 70, 80, 90k for a grocery getter/soccer practice tooling around town mobile. Everyone loaded up on debt, most likely their kids loaded up with college debt. What am I missing here?
What you are missing is that there are professions out there that have very high incomes. I have a close family member who is a specialist physician. She could afford to buy a couple of these new every year, and still have tons of money left over. Not that she would do that, she has no interest in cars. :) Anyway, once you reach a certain income level, money becomes "cheap," and you can afford luxuries.
2021 Q8 Owner Great review . . . but you did not mention the fantastic lighting system inside and out that this car has. The headlights (high/low beams) are controlled automatically and the high beams are like airplane landing lights. Plus when turning the headlights shine around corners before you make the turn. Inside lighting is fantastic with many accent colors from which to choose. Love to drive this car at night. BTW..........you don't need all of those garage door openers. You can program the Audi Q8 to open 8 garage doors.
What a depressing vehicle. I can't believe that this is what people want. Exterior is so cheap looking with its plastic vents and exhaust finishers. Dullsville

Another great review. I do have a couple questions. I am considering the 2021 Q8, Prestige, fully loaded, or the 2021 SQ8, Prestige, fully loaded, including the Sports Package. For me, it's less about the purchase price and more about how well they handle the full variety of roads and bad weather conditions, especially snow/ice storms in hilly ski country. The better mpg of the Q8 is tempting, and I love how quiet and smooth to drive it is, but there are other things to consider. Is there any way you, or maybe some of the posters here, might comment on if the SQ8 will be better on rougher roads and in worse weather, especially snow and ice, and if so, why that is, what features that you cannot get on the Q8 but can on the SQ8 make it so? And specifically, will the optional Sports Package on the SQ8 make any kind of a relevant improvement in this regard, and if so how? And the last thing I would want is to pay up for everything, only to have it perform worse on rougher roads or bad winter weather. My last decision, if you care to comment on it as well, will be whether to get the Black Optics which looks so incredible but bumps either car up to the 285/40/20 wheels, or do without the Black Optics and get the thicker rubber/sidewall of the 285/45/21 wheels. I can't decide if the difference between the 45 and 40 sidewalls will even be relevant or noticeable for taking the rougher roads, avoiding damage with bumps and smoothing out the drive on such. I live in ski country, and will be doing a lot of driving both summer and winter, good roads and bad, a lot of highway driving too, all good weather and bad, maybe some off road to get to a campsite or fishing spot, which can sometimes get tough, but no actual, tougher, intentional "off roading". Sometimes I think these auto manufacturers tend to forget that these more sporty, coupe style, high end suv's are still supposed to have at least some suv capabilities. The mandating of larger 22 wheels for the more loaded trims is an example. And if I want the 20 wheels with maximum 50 rubber/sidewall and slightly narrower 275 width which could be better in deeper snow, I have to forego just about everything, very frustrating. I want and will pay for maximizing the luxury, but I still want some kind of suv capability. Thanks for any input you or other posters here provide. Keep up the great work.
By far, one of the best, most thorough car reviews I have seen on RU-vid, Q8 is on my short list for my next car, this review pushed me closer to choosing it. Thanks, keep those great reviews coming!
Excellent review, thank you. I think the SQ8 is the one, it blends performance, same 4.0 V8 twin turbo as the RS just with the turbos slightly down-tuned but $20k cheaper and in the Prestige it is a very good spec.
Not really. I have it. SQ8 is very bad at fuel efficiency. It’s annoying to drive to gas station every 2-3 days. The power is nice but if you don’t travel on highways much you don’t need it. You could just do a stage 1 apr tune on Q8 and it will have even better fuel efficiency and get faster
@@mastersilence3446 the power is nice but the V8 sound and feel is nicer. You don't just want speed you want the sound, handling . Especially since these kind of vehicles are going away. Yes mpg is bad but that is the trade-off and a worthy one for Car Enthusiasts IMO. I fyou really wanted fuel efficiently you don't get a V8 SUV anyway RSQ8 is definitely overboard but I guess you can look it as a bargain compared to a Urus
4 or 5 grand for an audio system is UTTERLY INSANE! Anyone who does or knows about aftermarket car audio would tell you that. Don't waste your money, you could upgrade the base audio system for less and have a different but equal or better system. You don't need 23 speakers, that's insane. You just need the right speakers in the right places, and the right amp. The most important thing about car audio, and why most stock systems suck, is the speaker ENCLOSURES and thus tuning and vibration characteristics. 5g for car audio, what a joke. If you spent half that on a home system the sound would be FAR superior, it's just not worth it. If you want loud, if you want bass, if you want clean and clear... those 3 simple requirements can be achieved for MUCH less and with a much simpler system than this. It's not a movie theater. You're listening to 2 channel music, keep it simple. not 23 speakers and 3d algorithm bs. And even after 5g invested, i'm positive their sub is weak and crap - he said it himself, it's boomy. Any kid can spend 500-1000 on a subwoofer setup and get better results. no replacement for displacement. all about positioning, enclosure, and size/power. when they have to seamlessly integrate a small sub in a small enclosure to where you can't see it and it doesn't interfere with space, the result is immediately compromised.
John Doe you cant compare this to Rav4 man...this thing is a luxury SUV. People who buy/lease this car with never ever consider Rav4 over this. Maybe Lexus GX/LX
You're thinking like a middle class person. This vehicle is for the wealthy. Us regular people would indeed be better off with a RAV4. Nothing wrong with that, Toyota is super talented at making vehicles that drive nice and are affordable for the average person. However, people in certain professions, like physicians, make crazy money. I have a close family member who is a specialist physician. The $78,000 cost of this car would be nothing.
This channel should go on the "essential services" list and not be affected by the lockdown. Because it keeps it's viewers sane by being a little insane. Also great review.
I test drove this car and was a bit disappointed by the hesitation in acceleration after a full stop. It even appeared Scott's head instinctively went back before the car even left the line due to this hesitation. It's my understanding you can change drive modes to fix that annoying hesitation and/or turn off the fuel saving feature that shuts the car down at a stop light, but this hesitation feels dangerous and is annoying. Once the car moves beyond that hesitation, you can reach a high speed before you know it and it is a smooth ride. I did notice some road noise during my test drive, which kinda surprised me. What about dependability (or lack there of), the poor gas mileage and maintenance costs? All of these topics would have been good to address in the video. Just sayin'.
When this thing gets to 100,000 miles all the hundreds of sensors, the probably dozens of computers and the fancy AWD system and suspension are going to start failing. Its so high tech that you can't work on it yourself, most mechanics aren't going to have the special diagnostics equipment, so take into the dealer and they are just going to want to replace whole systems at some obscene cost. These vehicles are going to be endless money pits when they get older and are going to cost more to fix than they are worth before their time.
Thanks dad! It’s a nice car but I chose the performance Tesla over Audi, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, fucking hell that’s something else! I find Tesla to be the only exciting car maker out there, everyone else is just copying them, I’m not a fan boy, far from it as I’m aware of Tesla’s flaws and explain to my friends after their body goes back to normal while I’m doing 0-100 through the Scottish highlands.
HOW does anyone at audi design team thought putting glossy piano plastic all over the dash make it look premium? LITERALLY the cheapest alternative... get fooled by an ipad glued to the dashboard and some losers actually spend that much on this soccer mom van. IMAGINE what you can get on the used market for 70k.... WOW
How is that possible that BMW offers one of the biggest and most practical trunks in the SUV world? Lexus RX has very little amount of piano gloss and it looks great. Although I would prefer they copy the body proportions from BMW and stop the silly grill.
That black shiny panelling in the front: fingerprints aren't the worst thing about that -- reflected sunlight is horrendous on all cars with this kind of interior, and I'm shocked that design engineers at automakers don't go for a matte-black effect, or pseudo-leather, etc. (yes, some automakers allow you to pay $2000+ to change that to leather, but...)
I really don't understand the appeal of luxury cars. All the extra options seems sensless unless they improve driving dynamics, feel, fun, and practicality. IDK maybe I'm just poor...
