Watching this video again for inspiration. What a crazy year this has been and 2020 has brought many changes for you as well. Your channel is a breath of fresh air. On a purely selfish note I hope we will see you more on your channel. Love your planner and favorites videos. ❤️

Sometimes my friends and I would have a potluck and we all choose different dishes to make from one cookbook. But I’ve always wanted to cook through a whole cookbook! One of my recent favorites is My Kitchen Year by Ruth Reichl. Her writing is beautiful and the recipes in this book are unfussy, seasonal and comforting. I like your choices as well. Great to see you back.

I love your videos, Ashley! You share very helpful information, and the stories you tell make it all even more interesting -- (cliche, but... it's like having coffee with a friend.) I don't feel like you are just trying to "sell me something," like everyone else on YT. In short - THANKS! Please keep doing what you do. You are a gifted presenter of valuable content!

I always enjoy seeing a video from you! I'm glad that YNAB is working so well. I recommend it to everyone yet few people actually do it. They don't know what they are missing. I decided to use the COMMIT 30 planner this year to focus on a new goal each month. I am also doing a shopping fast for the month of January.

Hi Ashley! I have to say I didn't expect to see you this soon again but it was such a nice surprise! I am 34 and just this year was my first wisdom teeth removed. Long story. But I had such a nice experience! it was the quickest thing ever and I barely bled. I hope your experience is even better than mine!

I had my wisdom teeth out in my 30's. I waited because I was scared of nerve damage etc ect. I finally got it done (with an oral surgeon) , it was quick and the pain was not as bad as I had imagined... in the end I felt foolish for not doing it sooner. I get ya!

Your story about pushing off the wisdom teeth removal made me think of the new Buzzfeed article that went viral on “Millennial Burnout.” I am so guilty of pushing things off (doc appointments, errands) for weeks...months...years! And this article rang so true because I am not the only one!

I am a HUGE Danielle walker fan so I would always say cook through one of her books. Meals made simple is a great book to do that with because she provides you with meal plans and tips for how to use the components of one meal in another meal for the week. The recipes are also really easy and don’t require a lot of extravagant ingredients. My favorites from MMS are the chipotle barbacoa, the meatloaf meatballs, the creamy dill salmon, and the broccoli cauliflower rice casserole.

Hello, I find the best way to incorporate the onions and such is to either chop them really fine or grate them in dishes. I've started eating things I didn't like before by this method and it's worked well for me.... just a thought

I had to have 2 of my wisdom teeth out at 36 with an oral surgeon and you hear horror stories, but my experience was great. Took hardly no time, woke up in the office, wasn't groggy, went home, took meds and had a big nap, woke up, took meds and had some soup. Wasn't a big deal.

The one and done cookbook is fantastic!!! Also, we’ve done the katsu chicken (just the chicken, not the pineapple slaw) and it was great in the oven. An airfryer is essentially a mini oven so her oven instructions work great!

I did the minimalism game last year and it was life changing. I consider myself pretty minimal and my husband also didn’t think I could do it, but the little things really made it easy. Like why do I have 37 pens? Lol. Cooking through a cookbook is something I never thought of, that would be such a great goal and get me to actually use my cookbooks! Awesome goals, awesome video! Hope that you have a great year!

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed, although I had them done when I was 18 or 19, and honestly the hardest part was having the IV put in (I struggle with some medical procedures, I had a scary experience as a child being woken up in the middle of a surgery in the operating room, so my baggage is legit!) and other than that it was the best nap I've ever had in my life! I went with an oral surgeon and was put under for it. Lots of delicious liquid-y things, naps, and I really didn't need too much in terms of painkillers. I was at my brother's hockey game within 48 hours of surgery. Look at it as a forced vacation :) Also, YES to deeper vs wider, I was just saying this to my cousin the other day. I've been decluttering some of my 'hobbies' and deciding on which hobbies I really want to focus on, so I can zero in on the things that really bring me joy, because I want to be more proficient in those pursuits that bring me the most joy. And by removing 'cluttery' pursuits that I'm not actually doing a ton of, I'm also making room for hobbies in the future that I might want to add, but I think I'll be more cautious in the future about what type of hobbies I add. For instance, I'm a suuuper dog nerd, I love training dogs for more than just obedience. I've spent the past 3 years really devoting myself to training my dog to herd, since he's a herding breed, and now I have a really nice little chore dog who can move livestock for me. So now that I want to take up competitive heelwork, that's a hobby I can add to my roster, because I have a dog who is interested and wants to do it, I have a massive training space 20 paces from my front door that's equipped with most of what I need. And, because I live in the country and do a lot of animal stuff, when I decided to start a small breeding program for ducks last year, it fit into my hobbies because I'm already outdoors and taking care of animals daily, and I have the space for it in terms of where I live. But if I decide to like...take up dancing...that'll be a liiiittle bit harder, and I need to decide whether or not that hobby is one I want to invest time/money/effort into, or not. If I do, great, but I think I'm at an age where I've really zeroed in on some areas I enjoy and so while there's room for me to experiment with other pursuits if I want to, they're more than likely to stay in a very similar vein.

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed in my early 20’s. I had one tooth impacted on the jaw. One in my sinus cavity and the other was hooked on a nerve. I had to be put under. It wasn’t bad. And it was nice to no longer have the pain when they would try and push out when they had nowhere to go.

With that minimalism game you would declutter 496 items in a 31 day month. That’s A LOT... but would be awesome for someone who really needed it. A more realistic game would be 10 a day for 10 days... so it’s only 100 items. I like to start out my new year by doing that.

You need to get Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat! It is a cookbook but also it teaches how to use those 4 concepts to be able to cook anything. You should also watch the 4 part documentary on Netflix about it, it’s so good!

love the video 💕 as for the picky eating: really just try things over and over again, even if you think you don’t like them. I was honestly so convinced I hated tomatos until I finally tried them again and found I really enjoyed them, to the point of just casually snacking on them! so just go for it 😉

I got my wisdom teeth out last year at 31. I totally get you!! Being a red head and doing it older did make it harder. Before it happens, find something to binge watch. 😂 Bonus that you don’t have 4 kids, but it’s worth it. Dentists just kept putting it off, but then one of them touched another and I got a deep cavity because it was below my gum line where I couldn’t clean or floss. When I went to the oral surgeon he just took them all instead of the one, and I’ve only had nerve issues with one. I have most of my feeling, but not quite all. Entail work is scary as a red head!! Good luck!
@makeupTIA
@makeupTIA 5 лет назад
Oh no, I made my appointment, but now I'm scared again. Why is it extra hard for redheads? 😵
@meganwhitney3911
@meganwhitney3911 5 лет назад
@@makeupTIA weird I just got this notification today and you've already done it. Redheads often need more anesthesia (it took them longer to put me under), and when I have babies they always tell me that redheads bleed more. They also said to expect more swelling as a redhead. I couldn't believe how big my cheeks were. I felt like I was turning into Santa Claus! It hurt like crazy! It was only bad for the first week, then things really started getting better. Best of luck with your recovery!

I love your idea of working through a cookbook in a year! I’m the same way - I will make a couple recipes from a book then move on. I also received the Skinnytaste One and Done for Christmas and I LOVE it! The air fryer section gives conversions for the recipes to make them in your oven. Also good luck on your wisdom teeth. I have to convince my husband to go to an oral surgeon for his as well. 🙈

I’m 33 and I just had my (six!!!) wisdom teeth removed the day before Thanksgiving. Aside from having the extra teeth, I also had a few other precarious things that made my oral surgeon question whether or not I really wanted to go through with it. HOWEVER, it all went well, it’s a super fast procedure and I felt silly for having been so apprehensive beforehand. Also, I think Tiffany D. is 34 and she just had hers removed in the last week.

Oh my gosh, I just got to the part about your wisdom teeth and had to chime in again. I was EXACTLY like you in regards to wisdom teeth. All four were impacted and my regular dentist couldn’t remove them so I held off for years. I was told I would need to remove them when I was 22 and only did it January 3rd of last year (at 27, going on 28 the following month). I got all 4 removed at the same time and I have to say, I wish I did it sooner. (I also only did it because I no longer had a choice, one was causing me serious pain, lol...) It was NOT as bad as I read on all the forums about “dry sockets” and what-not. I honestly didn’t feel a thing during or after (thanks to the pain pills they tell you to take). I know everyone is different, but this was my experience. The worst part of it was not being able to eat normally for two/two and a half weeks afterward. I lost weight (and I am already skinny to begin with), but other than that, glad it’s done. Taking out the cotton the day of surgery was also not the best experience visually (I got lightheaded but had someone standing besides me, haha), but you get through it. Just make sure Jer’s there to keep you awake after some time passes! :) Any other questions, feel free to ask.

A lil advice about the wisdom tooth extraction... buy a nice lovely new pair of PJs, put your favorite sheets on your bed & have good pain meds (codeiene is a no way for me so I have to make sure they can write a perscription for low dose narcotic). I've had wisdom teeth out and three implants & hunker down with Netflix. You got this!

I wouldn’t limit yourself to “one cookbook” for your goal. I would make it broader (and more attainable) by maybe making the goal, “Cook recipes from cookbooks all year.” I don’t think the source matters, but the concept of it. Every recipe from any cookbook will be new to you, so you’re accomplishing the same exact thing without limiting yourself to one book like a bad diet would limit you. :)
