Steve Nagy cost, size/weight and simplicity might be an advantage over traditional auto. Not absolutely sure on those but they must be using them for some logical reason.

jarforsythe you nailed my thoughts exactly. Car is great except for the infotainment/ already dated center stack.

Steve Nagy I think the reason they’re still using the CVT is because of the amount the company invested in creating them. I’ve heard rumors that Infiniti/Nissan is working with Daimler to create their next generation transmission.

I hear the nissans have rust issues with the a/c water leaking down the sub frame

Honda's sucked though, it was two almost completely disconnected infotainment systems bolted into a center console that didn't need them, and making them interact with each other or the third infotainment system between the gauges (really it pretty much was, not a simple digital gauge display with the weather, your route, and the currently playing song like in most cars) was unintuitive and not worth trying. There were 4 ways of doing everything, and none of them worked well. Trying to do something on one screen could cancel out something completely unrelated you did on the other, and they both liked to crash when they conflicted too much. TBH this was probably the biggest reason for Acura's fall, even if you could get past the beak grille, which plenty of people actually liked, the tech was infuriating and didn't feel even slightly premium. Infiniti's 2 years ago wasn't any better than Acura's, if anything it was worse, but the difference is that Infiniti refined it until it actually worked well, rather than just give up on it like Acura. Things that need a big screen but not much interaction go on the top screen, while the bottom can still be used to control everything else, and the digital gauge display now works like it does in any other car. Infiniti wasn't the first dual-screen setup, but they're the best in the premium segment. Now if only they'd work on rolling out that new great tech to all of their models, half of them still use a Nissan infotainment system that debuted in 2007.

MrUbuntuking I had a '15 Accord with the 2nd screen setup and yeah it was clunky and a little slow but after a while it was like anything else and muscle memory. Definitely not the prettiest thing in the world but it got the job done. When I see this setup here on the Infiniti it just takes me back to 2015. I'm sure it's works good and all just a flashback I get seeing it here.

Owned a 2017 QX50.. absolutely loved it (well, for 1 to 3 people if you're not carrying too much cargo on a regular basis). The 2019+ has more crap in it, but all of that equates to more issues down the road, and the engine is far too unproven for any reliability announcements. Definitely going to pick up another 2016/7 soon.

@@johneaston7559 I too had a 17 QX50. That 3.7 engine is a gas hog! But what a beautiful hog it is, it really makes the car sing and go. The 17 is perfect for seating for four with the increased wheel base as long as no luggage is involved. The acceleration in that car and the handling made up for the lack gas mileage. But, it was just a bit too narrow for me. So, I took a big depreciation hit and got a QX70 with the 3.7. Not quite as fast, not as much room in the back seat, a bit more luggage space, a bit more of a gas hog but still a handler. The QX70 had the width I wanted. I have had the new QX50 as a loaner while my 70 is in the shop for oil changes and there is no substitute for hydraulic steering. The steering in the new car 2019 QX50 is so artificial. I would really say the steering is annoying. The gas mileage according to the trip computer is amazing and the interior of the new car is very nice. The car accelerates well and is reasonably quiet. If the QX50 engine proves reliable, get the steering fixed, work on the apple car play (stereo sounded fine) I would consider purchasing one.

That's like saying, "Wow this Mercedes is sooo luxurious but it's not as fast as a Corvette so it's shit." This car isn't meant to be sporty or fast. It's meant to be a luxurious grocery getter

RnBFAN06 the Japanese brands rest in their laurels too much (Toyota generally more than Nissan). They make good cars but know that so really do very little to update their vehicles properly.

man don't get me started on this... They have been saying they were "working on it" since 2014, yet 4 years later there's no sign of Carplay anywhere, it's literally a scam! It's 4 forking years we are talking about, 4 years ago Windows 8 was still a new operating system, Uber wasn't even widely adopted yet...
