one of the best if not the best bike on the road as the price is cheap and it is a great all rounder without all the gadgets to go wrong. In the touring pack we get a satnav holder plus it has the imu breaking system, easy in juice, lots of torque etc.

An honest review , but, f&k me you must've de-valued this bike by thousands. I did a 2000 mile round trip on an Harley FXDR last year & complained less about the screen & comfort. I'll be buying one of these, even more now just to prove you wrong ;)

Know the product before you report would be my advice! The touring kit comes with a very nice GPS mount

Also found it strange to not know what a Newtonmeter is. Says the bike has a 4-to-1 when it doesn't. Doesn't provide confidence in the reviewer.

What about the imu? You literally missed the main reason for the bike. Its an affordable sport touring machine with serious tc and electronics package. A perfect fit for older sport bike guys, who want fun and some more comfort.

Daniel Cobb Yeah... by older i kinda meant ppl who aren’t worried that they don’t have the newest zx10r, or nastiest track bike they can contort themselves on to. I love my 1000abs.... a great blend of performance, and decent comfort.
@sandozman6085
@sandozman6085 4 года назад
Daniel Cobb I actually prefer the zx14 to the 1000abs, the 14s smoothness, and wind bubble are amazing. I wish they would make an updated 14 in an sx type model. Risers, cruise, heated grips, and tft screen, with all adjustable tc parameters. Maybe throw on a quick shifter, and wow that would be amazing.

Think you may have to test the new 2020 Ninja 1000sx as it's now called, they seem to have listened to people and really bought it up to date. Lots will call me stupid but I am seriously considering selling my 1250 GSA (which I love) for the new Ninja, missing an in line 4

SPKPete is correct, I had a Ram Mount that went into the yoke nut. It took a little modification of the provided mounting hardware, but worked very well.

I pretty much like the "basic cockpit". Much more than just an TFT. Analog RPM looks cool :-)

Guys, there is an ball adapter that fits in the hole of the top yoke nut. I had one for my VFR800, to which I then fitted a Rider 400 SAT NAV.

I have the 2018 model of this bike in black (essentially the same bike but without those horrible side decals) and I have to say I love it. I have the stock seat and take your point that after around 25 miles my backside starts to feel numb but I have found that the longer I’m on the seat the less it bothers me, bizarrely, and overall the seat comfort far outlasts the tank range. I ride quite often at night and I love the simplicity of the dash because it is not distracting in any way in low light and the headlights are phenomenal. The lack of cruise is no issue for me, call me old school but I tend to feel a bit disconnected if I’m not in full control of my throttle, but if you needed something to give your arm a rest on a trek, there is a mechanical bar end weight replacement that will hold your throttle where you need it to be (Search Jonathan Long - he has install and review on his channel). The only gripe I have that means this is not the ideal mile muncher for me, is the lack of a centre stand for chain maintenance, so I have to rely on the Scott oiler to see me back to my Abba stand. Anyway, good review and keep up the good work.

Nice to see an honest review. I have this bike and am madly in love with it but I can't disagree with anything you said. Seat is terrible and it's definitely made for sport more than touring. It would be nice to have some of the extras on it but I'm sure the price would jump significantly if they started to add on. The have this priced low for a reason

I had a go on the 2018 one. Not for me either I'm afraid-too cosseted on my GS LOL. IMO it's more for sportsbike riders wanting to get off the 200hp nut jobs that want a bit more comfort. I thought it was basic too, no cruise control or fancy suspension or ride by wire but there again they are relatively cheap compared to say a R1250RS (Which has all the bells and whistles you'd want and is IMO the more complete bike) but is more expensive. The build quality looked excellent though and my local dealer seemed much better that the other Japanese manufacturers ones I visited. The extended warranty was a pittance too compared to the likes of BMW which would suggest they will be very reliable. It made me realise I'm too old now for a bike like that!

@@homeboys1310 if your bike has a quick shifter it's a after market one, Kawasaki do not fit them to the Z1000SX as a standard option. I bought a new 2018 sx last May and asked the dealer about a QS and he said they wouldn't advise fitting one! Disappointing. If you have a H2 that will have one but this review is not that bike of course.

Enjoyed the video, I have the 18 plate and have no issues without a quick shifter, TFT display, slightly harder seat etc. It’s not a 16k bike with all the extras you can think of, it’s new at 10k and starts, stops and goes better than bikes a lot more expensive so for that money it’s a no brainer as far as I’m concerned. My pillion has very little quarrels so if she’s happy it must be half decent. Love the bike 🙂.

I had a 2014 SX1000 and I have to agree with you that it isn’t the best bike for touring. I found the slight lean forward to be uncomfortable after a couple hundred miles. I did enjoy the bike, the bike was more than adequate. I found the horsepower claims to be overrated, with a full arrow exhaust, and flashed ECU, it was only putting out 129 HP on the dyno. The side panniers while nice looking, aren’t great for touring because since they are side loading, only the larger items are held by the cross straps, smaller stuff will fall into the side that is lowered. I found the lack of a gear indicator mind boggling, maybe they have fixed that by now. It looks like they also have both daytime lights on instead of just one(unless you had the high beams on). Overall, I enjoyed the bike, but for touring I much prefer my 2018 BMW R1200 GS😊

Some have made 125 hp standard. Expensive mods for a handful of bhp. I ride a S1000XR now and I'm on my second one,it can't be beaten.

To be fair all manufacturer claimed horsepower is at the crank, and you'd expect to lose 15% by the wheels.

I have a 2018 one of these, love it to bits but it's no tourer it's a sports bike in disguise. It lacks some toys but I paid £9300 OTR last May so value for money wise I'm very happy. It goes like stink and after fitting a sergant seat it's quite comfy too....

Amazing bike. You can get a stem mount from quad lock for satnav. Nm stands for newton meters 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️, personally I like 2 exhausts. Those ones are horrible however. The performance pack comes with twin akrapovics which look and sound great. It’s the best bike you can get between a sports bike and a sit up and beg bike. Old men shouldn’t really review the first two and stick to reviewing bikes which old men actually ride. I done a 2 week tour on one of these and was never uncomfortable at around 250-300 miles a day. Also panniers and the way in which they mount and dismount is the best I’ve ever seen

Give me a Versys 1000 anyday.... Yay thank God I already have one lol. It's perfect for two up with more than ample power for most people. Super smooth engine, comfortable mile muncher and ticks many more boxes for me than the SX. (Just my opinion and there'll always be 'Horses for courses' and all that) BTW mine has exactly the same switchgear on the left and it is set really well on the Versys handlebars. Great honest review.

Ive owned two Kawasaki Ninja's. They were both smooth and reliable. I noticed that the front turn signals on that one are almost flush with the body work and look pretty nice, which is a big improvement over the past machines, but I really wish the Japanese would get more onboard with using the rearview mirrors as the turn blinkers

Yes that's what I have. Went to Brighton for Pioneer Run yesterday. Saddle OK but then again I'm a Northern hard arse. Correction exhaust is not 4 into one look on the other side and there's an exhaust there too. Ha ha. Also bike is OK at low speed as you alluded to when you mentioned the flexibility of gearing. Yup there is a wind blast from the screen. Three position screen . .. . take your pick where it hits you! Kawasaki do a GPS mount that comes as part of the upgrade package. Sits in the gap between the handlebars. Correct the dashboard is missing the "you've just run into the back of something while looking at your coloured TFT screen" alarm.
