With a 217mph-plus top speed, a 0-62mph time of 2.8 seconds and a Nurburgring lap record to its name, the Aventador SVJ is unquestionably fast. It's the fastest Lamborghini on sale today, with 759bhp from a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine.
Those are hugely impressive numbers, but it's the active aerodynamics and four-wheel steering that make it more agile than a V12-powered super-sports car has any right to be, and what makes it purpose-built for smashing lap times - as Matt Prior discovered on a recently-resurfaced Estoril circuit in Portugal.

People complaining, need understand that Lamborghini replaces its cars every ten years. Aventador replacement will probably come in 2020 or 2021.

Great review, the Aventador is by far one of the best looking and sounding Supercars of this generation. Its aged very well and even the earlier models dont look dated

I don't see the point of putting such stringent environmental measures on supercars as there are too few for it to make a difference, surely just focussing on everyday average cars is what will truly help.

shikar babulall in europe trucks and busses are under very strict rules named euro 6. Most trucks/busses use adBlue to combat CO and NOx, it’s just ammonia(same stuf you piss out every day🤣) sprayed in the exhaust to lower emissions. The idea for supercars to be excluded from envirenmentel damage reduction is an absolutely brilliant idea

The Aventador SVJ is the first Lamborghini that you don't have to brag about. It does it all by itself. Some cars may say "i'm faster 0-60 or qtr. mile. But if you know this car the question is are you faster than me on the worlds most demanding track? No? Then sit your ass down the king has arrived.

Even if it was relatively affordable, what good is it to your average driver? I applaud Lambo and Porsche for destroying the ring but they've reached a point of madness; as well as other super/hyper cars.

Wow, this just goes to show you what can be achieved with careful development of an existing platform! I'm happy that Lambo has really extracted the ultimate performance from the Aventador, so it can realize its potential! Having driven an Aventador I have to admit the engine sound is unlike anything else on the road, and of course the look is unique. Nice review!

Yes the gearbox is old and slow. Yes Ferrari and Mclaren have faster cars but, this car is the essence of what a supercar is and should be. It is dramatic and gives you the chills everytime you see or even hear one. All we can hope is Lamborghini will bring out a worthy successor and not some hybrid crap with a V6 or something.

when you find out that the the ISR gearbox is actually faster than many double clutch out there (when it came out in 2011 was 50ms... F1 gearbox were 40ms)... and that's why is not as gentle as a DC and rather kicks like a mule.... plus...it's lighter ans smaller than DCs, and can be fitted in the mid tunnel of the Aventador, the original Lambo layout since the Countach.... and next cars will still be N/A V12-V10, hybrid

Rear wheel steer, it’s a funny one as it does give an unnatural sensation, had it on my GT3 and where you expect the back to step out to get over steer it doesn’t happen. Think I like old fashioned method that my M2 Comp gives me, suspect SV is the way to go although still think my Huracan Performante is dynamically better. Don’t get me wrong still got an itch for V12 Lambo🤣

Not many folks that can afford this car, that's for certain. A lot empty heated/cooled rooms in their mansions, for sure. And this certainly isn't their only car. A yacht or private jet isn't environmentally friendly either.

Why no comparison against the SV, would be interesting to know how different they are, is the rear wheel steering the same as the SV or has Lamborghini tweaked it? I believe these aren't a limited run so probably not one to buy as an investment although if you are lucky enough to get one quickly I dare say some one will pay the premium of not waiting for a slot to build their own.
