Keeping the shape with new tech was brilliant. And an homage to the guys who originally came up with the shape in the seventies. Even 911s changed way more over the same period. Your final verdict was on the spot. Here in Germany many forest rangers have been using G-Wagen for decades. They know why.

Great car, great thoughts as always - perhaps reconsider the mix, as the music is very distracting, meaningfully detracting from segments demonstrating exhaust and induction noise. Also, no complaints about a long review, though more b-roll/beauty shots of the Geländewagen might’ve been better than other, only tangentially related, footage to talk over.

The gauges are an upgrade you bought, it normally comes with normal ones you got the digital instrument cluster package

Impractical? lol - only downside is maybe the gas mileage but it’s fast, capable off road, looks badass, plenty of room for people or gear, super luxurious….

nice to see that this off-road monster has two massively exposed fuel tanks. with no protects or anything, yes this will work great going over rocks or through ruts. and before you say "no one really will take it off road". I point to the fact Mercedes kept the locking diff, low range, and massive suspension articulation.

11.42 MPG . Let that sink in. To put this in perspective: Gas at 5 Dollars a Gallon and my local Walmart at 19Miles away= it will cost damn near 20 dollars to drive to-and-from Walmart to get a gallon of milk that cost 3 dollars. We need an electric G WAGON

In our army we used them from 1994 till last year when we changed them for Toyota Land Cruiser. I drove them all. Standard gasoline engine, turbo diesel in the later versions and so on. The later ones with cdi engine were braking all the time. Even caught fire due to electrical issues. And believe me the doors after couple of years don't close that way as in the video! Luggage compartment doors sag like crazy due to the weight of the spare tyre that is mounted on them. But it is a cool car. :-)

For me, I like to answer these questions as 'what would I do'. In the case of the two cars you asked about, you can't even get as far as being somewhat scientific to ask about ride quality, equipment, power, etc.. ANY Land Rover/Range Rover are abysmally bad in terms of reliability. EVERY PERSON I know that has one, has put an epic amount of money into keeping them on the road and/or lost HUGE amounts of time with the car if the problems occurred during the warranty. On top of that, while both cars you mentioned suffer from horrific amounts of depreciation, there simply is no floor on the Range Rover. That is due to a combination of the aforementioned reliability issues and a rather dangerous lease v buy percentage. Translated: When a vehicle has too many people lease it, that is the market telling the OEM that they far overpriced their car and thus the resale is non existent. For fun, have a look at the going rates for a 4+ year old Range Rover.

"Its one of the most perfect vehicles on the planet". 100% 100%imo, they did an excellent job with the MkII ... except for the braces (thank god its an option) & the Panamericana grille.Speaking of Geländenwagens & heads of states, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (Prime Minister, Vice President of the UAE & Ruler of Dubai) drives a G63. Not chauffeured in it, he drives it himself. a always, excellent work M!

this is my dream car. and my only fantasy is owning one or even being able to drive one. o don’t even know if your able to get them in the US because i heard some controversy saying that they would have to be shipped here. and i don’t know what it is about this car that holds such a special place in my heart. but i’ve been deeply in love with it sense i was 5 years old. i am determined to have one of these before my life ends :) 🤩🤩🤩

True story: I had ZERO idea that these things were in such high demand going into the shoot. That was until I went to the post office on day two with the car. Not one, but THREE people stopped me to ask about it. Not about the car - rather, 'How did you get it??????'. Got the same questions the rest of my time with it. Here in LA, G63s are going for well over sticker. The Edition Ones are going for 100K over sticker. Thought for a second about putting that into the episode but decided against it because you and I know that will evaporate by the end of 2019 and they will depreciate like any AMG - thus wanted to keep this episode more 'timeless' about the car rather than people crazy enough to pay over sticker.

Should have the 6.3v8 not s 4.0 v8 that is honed . 6.3 will last longer and more reliable. So they shouldnt call it a g 63
