"The world’s most pointless car" uhh actually the 2019 G63 is an incredibly versatile vehicle that can be taken off road, has train loads of room and can put many sports cars to shame in performance. That's at least three points.
@@gockelxxxxxl9584 by the way, its not the manufacturer's fault if the consumer never use it for offroad. Should they change it into 4x2 without any offroad capabilities then? Just because the consumer never take it offroad, just because i can shoot 3point well, doesnt always mean i should play in the NBA mate.
@@gockelxxxxxl9584 please dont put 'if' into comparison, if you dont need space why dont you buy a superb city car like golf R or maybe C63. People buy G63 for specific reason i think. Especially the new one. It perform crazy, superb handling (for a car this big), super comfy, social status, space, and offroad capabilities is just a bonus.
All kidding aside, if you want a vehicle that can: -break 100 under 4s -can do extreme offroading -rides like a luxury car G63 is probably the only option.
For the same money you can get a s class which is better than this. And for less you can get an e63s (as Sedan or station wagon) or a m5. Both are much more fun to drive
I would love to buy the Land Cruiser for the fact that it's an awesome and reliable vehicle. I despise the exterior, though. It needs a complete redesign. To me it looks like a mom car.
I mean, you can take a car like that to a track or drag strip without messing it up, considering they are built for that. A g wagon, which is built for off roading, with the AMG treatment? Pretty pointless. Is it cool? Hell fucking yeah it is. Is it usable off road in amg form? No. Especially with those tires and a twin turbo v8. Get a Jeep, Land Rover, Subaru, or Toyota TRD if you wanna do some proper off roading with a road legal car.
@@nathanmaynard131 With 1 - 3 cm ground clearance, they'd be lucky to make it all the way to the track from home. The G AMG is as much capable off roading as the RR Sport SVR. If you want a proper G Wagon for proper off-road & overlanding, you could always get the G Wagon Professional.
abidamn one: super cars most certainly can drive to a track and back. People take them across COUNTRY in America all the time. Two: yes other g wagon models are better for off roading. However, every part and every repair is going to be bonkers expensive compared to just about every other off roader. The range rovers are the same way. They CAN go off road, but you’d be an idiot to do it. If something breaks it’s insanely expensive to repair. Let’s be honest, G wagons, Range Rovers, are luxury grocery getters and statements of wealth. That’s their primary purpose. The fact they can go off road is pretty much an afterthought for 99% of people who buy them
They actually couldn’t add proximity sensor to the doors because if they did it would lose the iconic sound when you close & open the doors. People really love that so Mercedes decided to not do that & im okay with that.
There's no keyless entry because of the mechanical door locks and hinges which sounds like an AK47 when you unlock/lock the car. It's a signature thing about the G class that why Mercedes kept it instead of adding keyless entry.
Loved this review from Paul. Focused on the positives from a subjective human perspective which is what a kind of car like this needs. It cannot be rationally explained haha. From what I’ve heard the mechanical linkage is incompatible with keyless entry which is why there isn’t that feature
Customers wanted to Mercedes to keep the classic door locks. That includes the old school door handles which do not have the internal space for capacitive touch sensors for the car to detect you want to open the door. The actual proximity sensors aren't the problem.
Pointless? this car has its own category like no other. its unique, its incomparable, its a pure Mercedes vehicle. when your driving a G63 it gives you this special feeling that no other vehicle can give you. but there is one thing in this video that you can call pointless, and thats the title...

Videos like this is a result of " car reviewers " that do absolutely no research on cars and then make statements about the cars. The reason it has no proximity sensors is because the people that want to buy this car prefer the mechanical sound of the old door locks. The proximity locks are electronic and won't give you that sound. If one minute of research was done, you would see that's what Mercedes said.
Not pointless lift it up put all wheel tires on tune it up and it’s a beast you can off road and race in that it’s basically the most luxury Jeep rubicon ever made lol
land rover is a pointless overpriced underequipped car, the g wagon is the original hummer humvee story, an actual incredible scientifically engineered tool, that managed to grab the attention of the masses. it has been used by many many armies for a long time. infact for what i heard, we can thank the 6x6 version to a scandinavian army that requested it
The world’s most pointless car? You must be on drugs to stay something like that. You can drive this car 24/7/365, in snow, take it to your summer cottage in the middle of nowhere and abuse it vs. ANY supercar.
with all that electronic inside no thank you. sure you can daily it but for serious offroad just forget about it unless you have the money to repair it each time you bring it offroad ii better buy an old one or a land rover you can see those abused cars in dubai and the middle east they cant really survive thise harsch conditions
