Based on the aesthetic of Moto Morini's classic 3 1/2, while housing their modern bialbero 1200 engine, the Milano was always going to be a special breed. Made even more unique with a short run of 30 limited edition machines before the standard version comes on the market.
Occasionally you have to just acknowledge that some days are better than others.
Some bikes are designed to be practical, to be used every day. This is not one of those bikes.
I am of the firm believe that riding should never become boring or monotonous. Riding a bike is a uniquely liberating experience and for the days when you want the 'event' of riding something special, I would definitely have this parked in my garage.
Thank you to Moto Morini

I like it when a company revisits an old model and gives it the contemporary make over. This looks AND sounds great. Daft to say but, it looks a damn comfortable ride from here. Christ, if I had tonnes of money I’d buy a bike a month!

I feel your pain. If I had the funds I'd have a showroom full of them. Its beautiful, and really responsive. Just hope I get the chance to try it again at some point.

As RU-vid, bike reviews go, you do make a good one. Don't change your unique format. Italian bikes do have their own perquliar style, can be noticed from 50 paces through a cloud of diesel smoke.

Thanks David, that's really nice to read. I've got a soft spot for Italian bikes, I blame my dad.

Moto Morini and its hand-made bikes like the Milano 1200cc or the Super Scrambler with the same engine is (was) a real Italian jewel, highly respected by connoisseur bikers here. I mean, at least until 2-3 years ago, sadly now it's a Chinese-owned brand and their bikes, like the X-Cape and the Seiemmezzo even if still designed in Italia, then nice bikes, are completely different beasts Italian bikes are obviously the most beautiful ones by far BUT foreigners should buy them only if they have an official mechanic authorized by the brand nearby or, alternatively, a very skilled one as they're built with a very different philosophy than japanese bikes as the latters are mass-produced bike sold everywhere in the world in terms of millions so is abolutely needed that even a Burkina Faso 3-fingered mechanic (with all due respect) must be able to fix them, easily. On the contrary, Italian bikes are often built by small or medium, high quality brands and basically sold in developed countries only and in terms of thousands (not millions): these bikes have basically no play and zero tolerance among their components, then is absolutely fundamental that only very, very skilled mechanics that already know'em should put their hands on them. Otherwise, your expensive, beautiful Ducati, MV Agusta, Aprilia et al will spend more time broken than fixed. I don't know if my message is clear as English is only my 3rd language behind Italiano, my native tongue, and Français but that's a very important thing that every foreigner should understand before buying an Italian bike: no authorized mechanic nearby? Well, than buy Honda or Yamaha: sure, less beautiful and a bit aseptic... but far less headaches, trust me.

Hi Tim, quick Q, I have got a 2020 CB1100RS at the moment and it’s a great retro GT bike but in line fours (even that off beat one in the RS) never has quite the character of the twin and I do miss that decel sound, so,, would you have the Milano over the CB? For comparison I recall you had the CB1300 which handles similar to the RS. The RS sounds louder than CB1300 on arrows being air cooled, but less top end than the 1300. Have got an opportunity to part ex my RS for a limited edition. Honda super reliable but not quite as special, Thoughts? JB 🙏

for 30 years my uncle was a dealer and mechanic of Moto Morini and Ducati here in Italy. he met Franco Lambertini personally. Do you Brits call this kind of moto "sleeper"? If you like 'exotic' bikes watch the Millepercento Scighera or the CR&S Duu, handmade italian bikes. a greeting and congratulations for the channel. Sorry for my 'italian english'

Those curley pipes and double exhaust (wich hides the space between tyre and seat!) is too much for me... Everything else is brilliant!

Excellent review, I have just watched this vid again as I have now found myself in a position to be able to buy one. To say these are hard to find is an understatement but that just makes it more appealing. Thanks for not sounding like a manufacturer’s promo vid and for not using ludicrously hyperbolised adjectives which seem to be the norm these days.

Bialbero stands for "double crankshaft" (I guess the brands engineered the motor that way). It is a composite word of "bi" (double) and "albero", that means literally "tree" ('cause in Italy, in mechanics, we refer to the crankshaft as "albero motore" or "albero a gomiti"...most in general used for transmission pieces. Funny pronounce, made me laugh :) By the way, nice review as usual! Follower by a bit, since I found you looking around for opinions on the Street Twin, and remained impressed by your review "out of choir".
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 5 лет назад
Thanks Dario, that translation is actually quite useful, and fun to pronounce. It's a beautiful language but it sounds clunky when I tackle it. It really is a special engine though, definitely worth trying if you get the chance.

Thanks to you@@RarefiedRoadfor your videos and thoughts :) To be honest, despite Morini is an Italian builder, I have to say they are quite rare to spot around. I admit I only saw some old/vintage models around a couple of times. If I get the chance...I will do a ride for sure!
@BanjoLuke1
@BanjoLuke1 2 года назад
Not quite. Albero is indeed the same as the word for tree.... And it can also mean shaft. Albero a gomiti is crankshaft. But here it means camshaft (albero a camme). So 'bialbero' means twin-cam. The same construction is used in French: Arbre a cames for camshaft....

Awesome, was it the Veloce? It's not technically in Chester that's just the nearest hub to mention. It's in Whitchurch actually. That's where Ben supplies them from, he's there distributer for the UK but I think you're probably better catching him at shows like Llanbikefest.
