Twins don't feel buzzy - one argument for the Ducati. I would rather have the Triumph, though. Assuming it turns out to be reliable. Triumphs don't have a good reliability record, although the triples might be okay. Excellent review.

From now on I want all testing to be done by Guy Martin! 😂 I want to hear him test a Chinese 125 😂😂 In other things, I really like the bike (apart from the stubby seat and swingarm mounted plate, I hate that combo on bikes) , 'it comes alive after 6k revs'...most bikes I like are done with by 6k, I'm definitely a short-shift, twin cylinder fan. It sounds similar, both in riding and power, to the 600 bandit I owned many years ago and I never really liked riding that. You had to work too hard and I'm a very lazy rider.....

Thanks for the review. Not sure whether I like the retro/modern styling of the Trident, the tank looks a bit bulbous I reckon. But looks are subjective I guess, I think my KTM 690R Duke looks good so what do I know.

Great bike, but even at the relatively cheap purchase price I'd rather have a used Street Triple - more so when you can get say a 5+ years old Street Triple R for considerably less money (and better performance/spec). I realise that this is the perennial used vs new decision but worthy of consideration. Its certainly going to be a great used buy in years to come :-)

It's tempting but I don't think this is my next bike to be honest, I think I need something I can do distance on.

Just got me a new Trident here in the USA. I must say the throttle is horribly bad. It will hang once you pull in the clutch and the delay is almost dangerous. Triumph really needs to sort this out or I’ll be going back to Yamaha. And it’s too bad because the engine and power delivery is damn near perfect.

It’s a decent bike. I’d put other entry level bikes ahead of it, MT07 or the CB650

Lol the Trident is so much better then the MT07, has much better tech for the price

@@josephlemons LOL. If you need a basic level of traction control and two riding modes on a bike with a soft tune such as the Trident, it would be the one to get.

Nothing beats the Triumph build quality,I used to own a MT07 and it's build quality is almost embarrassing,to think Yamaha has the balls asking +- 7.500 euro's for that.

Yeah I went from a mt-09 to a street triple 765, the triumph smashes it in everyway. Build quality of the triumph makes the Yamaha feel like a plastic toy.

So when are you going to address the CB not in the room? Was the CB too reliable and you needed more drama in your life, so you turned once again to Italians?

Something like that. No unfortunately the CB does not meet the London emotions regulations otherwise I'd still have it. I don't think this one's staying too long though, hasn't worked its way into my heart yet.

@@RarefiedRoad get a test ride on a modern sv650 Tim. I think I remember that you had an old one before, but you could pretty much swap the scrambler for a nearly new SV. Give it a go, I loved riding my mates. (Although I thought it was a bit vibey and he says I must be mad as it's smooth as anything, so I'd like a second opinion...)
