I bought a 2019 Ecoboost two years ago and abused the hell out of it, use it a field farm/vineyard car almost 50,000 miles on it and oil changes every 7,000-10,000 ish miles, early morning my drive way is steep and I scratch the undercarriage quiet a bit also hopped a curb and spun her out a few times took her to drag strip and track racing she’s been through a lot but still chugging no issues yet!
Perfect street / daily driver. it's everything you need, looks great, good on gas and fun to drive. Sure you get more power from a GT but if you never race / track your car there is no point in spending a lot more money on the GT. As any cop will happily point out, speed limits are a thing.
@@JVette01 ikr, extended warranties are a rip off. Just drive it and buy the flood ford warranty before the 36000 miles is up. Dealerships also like to pretend warranties are based off year when it's sale date. For example the tried telling me two years was already up on my 2017 and I'm like, no I called ford and it was sold October 18. I bought it with 1600 miles. I just hope I never need to go in for warranty work cause my car is far from stock. Got some vids on my channel. I still have the stock map saved in my tuner and gmail and I have a battery charger to dummy start it however many times seems believable for the mileage.
2018 and up though you are fucked for modding because those actually show time and date of ecu flash. 2015 to 17 just shows key turns since flash which is why lots of people seek out 17s that are still early in their warranty period. Raced a gt 350 today and actually got him light to light from a stop but on the freeway he was slightly pulling me, still was happy my little 4 cylinder was barely getting pulled by a shelby on the freeway.
I've decided to go with a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost. It's more affordable and very economical so the wife is okay with it, which we all know is what matters. She also likes Mustangs and the color orange so it's gonna be orange. Test drove one for a day and managed 28-29MPG city but still had lots of fun with it when stepping on it. I was surprised how quiet the cabin was and the ride was good too. Definitely a great daily you can have some fun in.
I have a base GT in this Velocity Blue color and love it. I kept these base wheels and vinyl wrapped them and love the way they look. With 19,000 miles, I have no known issues, and I get 20 mpg with 30% highway and 70% city driving measured at the pump (the car's measurement is about 1.5 mpg overstated).
For a bit of perspective, I have a 2015 EcoBoost and I had an oil leak at 24k miles. I'm running at 46k miles and I've had a fuel sensor go out. The factory Hankook tires on the 17 inch wheels are absolutely terrible. Even with a square setup and a persistent rotate, they still go out before 10,000 miles with normal driving. Noises and rattles in the cabin are becoming more and more apparent, especially on my passenger side air vent. My headlights are wearing and fading towards the top. The resale value of the car is deminished so much (I bought used at 23k miles and it's already Diminished 6 grand in a year). Overall I'm worried about the reliability going forward, especially after my warranty just went out.
Wow that’s too bad. 2015 was the first year of the EB and had the engine built in Spain. I’ve heard (don’t know if true or not) that the Spain engines had reliability problems. My tires (Goodyear eagle f1) have 20k miles and barely look worn.
picked up my eco used with 39,000 on it. Runs great, no issues, minor cosmetic nicks but otherwise excellent car. Ecos get a lot of flak from V8 owners but imo they're just salty that we can make the same WHP with a few bolt-ons :^)
V8 is less headache though. I legit get anxiety driving mine. Got a bad batch of e85 and about had a heart attack. If you have an accessport especially on e85 always watch oar. Low octane is killer to these cars.
Thanks for this, looking at a 2022 and hard to find regular reviews on the thing. Everyone is either over the moon or hates it. I’m looking at one as a daily driver and ironically something to replace my truck which is killing me on gas.
Drive them both and consider whether an EB or the GT make sense. I have both - the EB for daily driving and sitting in traffic - an automatic. The GT is a 19 Bullitt - pen road, curves - perfect. All depends on how you use it…..need to drive both and compare.
@@t.k.morris You can, but the rated hp/trigger m torque/mpg numbers are optimized with 91 octane minimum. I have a 2018 base model ecoboost with MT82 Getrag manual transmission, wheel and stripe package and the 101A package (bigger center console display). As a daily driver, I average 24-26 mpg mixed city/highway driving, and 30+ mpg on a long highway trip. Mods are simple: COBB stage 1+ (CAI and OEM stage 1 tune); strut tower brace; custom exhaust (2.5” pipe from cat, single Magnaflow centerline muffler where resonator used to be, 2.5” pipes to 4” chrome exhaust tips); Steeda clutch spring, and; white cue ball shift knob. The car is fast enough, and the lighter front end makes driving twisty canyon roads a lot of fun. The engine likes being in the higher rev range (3-5000 rpm), so you’re not using the clutch all that much. It’s a little less fun in stop and go traffic, but with the lighter clutch spring it isn’t bad.
How is she running now 3 years later ? Still a gem? There is a 2020 in my area for a great price sith permium package with 40k miles and im so tempted to buy it.
Same i have the 10 speed Ecoboost Premium 2019, with a digital display and i freaking love it. I bought it brand new last year and ive only driven it 7000 miles so far. due to covid i rarely drove it this year lol.
I’ve got a 2019 automatic ecoboost w/ 10K miles on it. I’ve also noticed & felt the harsh shifting from park to reverse, or from park to drive. I should probably get the transmission programming reset. To help with this I’ve been turning off the car while it’s on neutral & then shifting it into park. It helps the next time I go from park to reverse & vice versa.
@@JVette01 I still haven’t fixed it even a year later. Lol I still turn the car off on neutral & then place it in park. Also, I purchased a Dodge Challenger GT which is the base V6 Chrysler Pentastar engine. Great fucking car. Looks like a space ship. Both equally true American muscle cars. No V8 engine needed to be worthy.
Really Enjoyed this video .. I am tempted to buy a 2019-20 ecoboost but just a lot to think about .. your video definitely helped! And the sound of that thing is awesome!
I've been curious about fuel economy since Ford says this is essentially the same engine my Ranger has, with some tuning. My Ranger mileage has never dipped below 22, and with the extra weight and lack of aerodynamics, i'm shocked. My old 2014 V6 mustang would only hit the 26 to 32 mpg range on long trips- with the flat highways of Louisiana buffering the rest of my trip through to Georgia. I was skeptical of the eco-boost engine but once I drove it, I understood.
Premiums are definitely nice! I was happy enough with the big screen with the 101a upgrade package though. I didn’t want to spend too much because then I’d be in GT territory. The whole point of me getting the EB was to save money. Congrats on the car thanks for watching!
@@JVette01 pretty good once it learned the octane. Before the tune in sport or track mode the shifts on the 10 speed were hard, you felt each one. Now the shifts are much smoother. Went with the Ford tune for warranty purposes.
I have fixed my dash rattle (it was the trim piece). I just took it off, put some squishy material in some of the areas and it went away. I plan on doing a video about that. I just have a lot of videos I still need to post first. Stay tuned!
I bought a 2017 eco, brand new (Grabber blue w/ manual trans.) I've driven it year 'round in Hinton, Alberta. This includes snow (Michelin X-ice make all the difference) and the only real issues I've had, have been with the paint. Was covered in rock chips when i bought it so the dealer had it painted under the table. The paint shop failed miserably and the paint was peeling off within a month or two. Eventually they agreed to warranty their poor work and now it's fine. As far as gas mileage goes, it's not bad by any means. In town I get about 12L/100km or 19mpg, and as low as 7.5 l/100km or 31.4 MPG. I've only ever run premium in it (91, sometimes 94 when I make 2+ hour drives). As for minor issues, I replaced the fuel sensor to prevent the "ecoboom" notorious issue, as my sensor was the known faulty one. That was only about $35 CAD and took 15 mins. The driver's door speaker blew which wasn't a big issue since my broke ass didn't go premium model and the stock sound system was awful, so it gave me motivation to upgrade it. The frame-less windows occasionally have issues when they're frozen, which was expected. The heating / cooling comes and goes. It's a common issue over pretty much every ford product so once again, not much of a surprise. Overall, it has its share of issues but it's been a consistent and fairly reliable daily driver for me. IF you end up driving it in snow, a good set of winters is essential. I also keep a spare summer tire in the boot to weigh the ass end down which helps. Handles fine like that.
I have a 15 GT that i bought in 15 an now with 23k mile ,no known issues!, sure its a few things i dislike but as far as it running. Nothing been wrong with it
I thought I was the only one who specifically went out in the rain to slide🤣🤣 great video! BTW if you hold the traction control button down for 5 seconds it will say advance track off and it fully let's you go
I have a 2017, with almost 160k on it....only major thing was rotors all around and rear calipers. AC died when it was under warranty at about 25k....so that was easy. I've had CAI on it for 3 yrs and just got a an sct x4 tuner, use the preprogrammed 87 tune. Car still runs great, even better on the tune. Will go 91 tune once has prices drop...😎😎😎
In about a year and a half time I can comfortably afford my first car which will hopefully be a 2019 to 2023GT but for some reason I don’t know why am considering the eco-boost lol
My 2018 EcoBoost mustang has 24 k and has the following problems. Clock spring went out at 1k miles Then oil leak that was fixed at 21 k miles but still seeps out not bad but annoying And the head gasket pre maturely failed at 21k miles . All on stock tune. But other then that it’s a great car I’m guessing the head gasket was bad from factory because it has a lot more low end torque and pushes 22 pounds of boost constantly. However if I go ECOBOOM I’m putting a built 2.0 block with a comp 58/58 turbo in it because that route is actually cheaper then a gt
That’s unfortunate that you’ve had so many issues. Hopefully mine doesn’t have issues in the future lol. However, I suggest upgrading to a GT if you want a more powerful car. A GT is faster out the box, sounds better, “real mustang,” and has much more power potential
@@M4B21S88 yea it pushes more boost then the motor can take for a short duration like 15/20 sec at a time. Not surprised the weak head gasket failed when pushing the motor like that
@@JVette01 good= comfortable daily, good FE, looks good, good brakes, plenty of power. Bad= interior quality, eco boom (on 2nd motor) exhaust sounds like ass, steering feel is numb, could go on a diet (wait me or the car?)
I have the 2018 premium Eco and had the transmission leak, Engine Oil leak as well. Then had to get the differential replaced. All under warranty but worried about its longevity as a car.
That’s too bad... so far it’s just been the oil leak and I have some very annoying interior rattles. Other than that, it’s good so far! Hopefully you will have better luck with yours in the future
from P to R. And R to P. it’s l really loud grind. Using paddle shifting it takes 2 seconds to shift. Also when stopping on red from high gear it puts 1” gear to fast and feels grinding clicking
2018 Ecoboost owner here i have just about 68k miles on it now. Car has had some issues since i purchased it the car has gone into limp mode and ford said the transmission codes had to be reset. when i fill up my gas tank the rpms seem to dip at idle for whatever reason. And lastly from start to go not sure if it is just the Ecoboost engine but it is very jolty and almost stutters - im completely stock btw
My 19 eco feels pretty harsh when I go from parked to drive or parked to reverse. I thought it was just because it normally happens after it’s been sitting for a while but should I get that checked out?
Just take it in to your dealer and show them what it’s doing. They should do a transmission reset/relearn, and it goes back to normal. That’s what worked for my car.
I own a 2020 with pony package. I truly love it, but the interior rattles drive me crazy. I've tried to fix most of them myself using sticky felt pads, but man, those noises are too much.
@@JVette01 I did have some of those rattles. I fixed them by inserting small sticky felt pads between the vent chrome ring and the big plastic trim piece. Fortunately the rattles were not inside the AC vent system
I might have to try that.. mine sounds like they’re coming from the trim piece itself though, not the actual vents. If I push on the trim piece it goes away
Damn, I get 17mpg on my 2019 EcoBoost xD (but then again its all city and I have a lead foot)(I also had the same oil leak and they had my car for 2 weeks, I was miserable) . Mines Velocity Blue with a manual trans. I recently did a resonator delete and a stage 1 kit from Roush (Cold Air Intake, Axel Backs, and a Tune). Cosmetics I did the the GT350-R Spoiler, Roush Front Kit, and a Hurst Grille. I am loving her more and more each day
I would probably get bad mpg too if I didn’t work 20 miles away (all highway) haha. I’m glad you’re enjoying your EcoBoost! Such a huge aftermarket to make it your own.
No Tire Replacement on the Mustang yet??? I Had a 13 Fusion and Currently have a17; Lincoln MKZ Where both needed Tire replacement at 18,000. Soft Ride Compound equals Quick replacement!!
Thanks! It was 288/mo. Check this video for all the details surrounding money on my EcoBoost and my new car. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DJe680BklVo.html
That tint bill is insane! I was shopping around for quotes since I just bought my brand new 2020 Ecoboost and the highest quote I got was $220 and I thought that was robbery 😂 I paid $120 for all my windows on my 18 Honda Civic Sport Hatch with lifetime warranty for $120 back in PA, CA tint prices seem to be higher for some reason...
If you where given the option, for free, to either upgrade to the v8 or get the premium interior and a track package, which would you do? Or would you stick with what you have? I ask, because I'm planning on getting a mustang in its final year, I like the idea of a v8, but I'm coming from a 110 hp hatch, so what ever I choose will be a massive boost in power and features. Just unsure if I want more power, or fuel economy and a lighter front end.
I would get the GT 100%. But that’s because I love fast cars haha. It depends on what you want, because the EcoBoost is quick enough, just doesn’t have the soul of the V8
@@JVette01 Man thats so close to how I feel. I know the EcoBoost would be more than enough. But there is something about a V8. Thanks for taking the time to reply, its always good to hear from people who have personally owned a Mustang.
Did anyone have transmission problems? I test drove one and it would downshift by itself when I slowed down extremely hard. It felt like the engine was slipping. Only 25k miles
Basically you're doing what I was leaning towards which is it'll make you happy enough until you're done paying on it and then trade that equity in towards a new gt. I might just wait and save cash and stay in my gay ass Mazda CX-5. It's actually not that bad but me being a fresh as fk 6'4" 250lbs man I get a lot of shit from my boyz about driving it. I'm a middle aged family man so it's the jam until I get my mid life crisis GT. I own a home already and my son will be 18 in two years so it's about damned time for big daddy to have his fun, lol. Thanks for the review bro!
How comfortable are the seats in your opinion? I know it's subjective. I'm 6'3" 250 and just trying to get some opinions on the seat comfort. Anyone from the comments section? Thnx
Rent one for a day, what ever it cost. You are big-size and this car is not a Charger.. I'm 5'11 & I struggle with the rear view mirror a bit w/the seat bottom lifted up a bit.. otherwise excellent vehicle. **I have the exact car, but its a 2020 with the black out package..👍
Think my timing gasket or whatever may be leaking as well. I’m the original owner of the car. But I’m modded and tuned… you think they will still fix it?? I’m only at 15k miles.
kinda miss my automatic ecoboost :( , i had a brand new one and it got totaled after 4 freaken months... i had too buy a manual since ford didn't sell automatics any more to Europe cause off emissions.
@@JVette01 Thanks for the fast responses dude! still waiting for the warrany to be over to modify it. You don't see many Mustangs here in Belgium everyone is looking at it.
I just bought a 2020 ecoboost new a couple days ago and I love it! Just a question, I noticed on the highway my wheel sometimes jerks when I’m driving straight for a while or if someone is close to me... is there a way to turn that off? I’m not sure if it’s a setting or not
@@JVette01 thanks! I just switched from a 2013 Hyundai Azera, major changes and I’m still getting use to it. Thanks for the heads up, I’m just use to driving without that auto lane assist, it’s scary / annoying when I know I’m in my lane driving next to traffic haha
Depends where you’re from. I’d wait till after tax season regardless but I looked at a 2019 Ford Mustang Ecoboost premium for $20,995 with 23k miles here in Central Texas. It sold in about 3 days because of the price and in tax season but I’d honestly wait for a better deal.
I have enough money to buy 2019 eco or 2017 gt, which one would you go for? I live in Europe so maintenance is a problem ( I will be importing whichever I end up buying)
@@JVette01 I've read nothing but horror stories about the 2017gt(reliability wise) both have low miles (around 15k) and I intend to use it as a daily driver plus the eco comes preprainted perfectly... You can see my dilemma
If you are gonna mod it get the 17. I said in another comment but that is the last year that came with the ecu that you could reflash and do fake key turns to fool ford for warranty purposes. 18s and up show date and time of flash and as far as I know no one's figured out how to fool it.
@@4touchdowns1game29 I did, the eco is supposedly very unreliable and import tax was almost twice as high as 17 Thank god I went with the 17 gt, I got it a nice mat black wrap with gloss white stripes, LPGed(yeah I know its a huge foo-pah to lpg a mustang but the fuc*er was drinking 20 l/100km-11mpg) I've oredered one of thouse huge tesla style android systems with a 360 birds eye view camera systems and some optic cable and projectors to get that nice night sky star ceeling I am very happy with my decision, If I was to do it over I would have gone with a 6 banger or a manuel gt because we dont have nice enough roads to let a v8 strech its legs plus all I do is city driving and the way a mustang accelerates... well lets just say I understand why they always plough in to crowds
Can anyone tell me honestly how the mustang performs in colorado snow? I've heard a set of winter tires make a big difference, but also have heard that since it sits so low that half a foot will make it immobile.
People beat on them like crazy. Also they usually have a lot of scratches and dings. Some people have good luck with ex rentals but I don’t trust them.
Buddy my Ford Mustang 2020 has 400 miles on it and when is downshifting on sport mode you feels the downshifting., the other day I tried to test it on sport mode and when it was downshifting it clunked, also when it’s on normal mode and it’s shifting first to 2nd gear you feel the shifting, but as soon it gets to 35 miles per hour the shifting is very smooth. Do you think those little things are normal or not? I will appreciate your answer.
Yeah it’s normal. Sport mode has jerky shifts (especially 1-4 gear) and in normal mode when it shifts from 1 to 3 and 3 to 5 you can feel it, especially when cold. Just a characteristic of the 10r80 in my experience
I can understand since you’re going used.. you don’t know how well it was taken care of. However, I believe that if you change the oil and don’t beat the crap out of it, it should last for as long as you need it to.
@@JVette01 with the same range price probably the ecoboost just disappointed with that 4' screen 🥲 ford really needs to give better tech for even the base model
The EcoBoost looks better, faster, better transmission, better aftermarket support, and will be a lot more fun to drive. The Camry will be more comfortable, get better gas mileage, “reliable”, carry more passengers, and has lots of modern tech. It’s all up to what you prefer.
Ecoboost is meh. Spending more for the name than you are for the tech. A 4-cylinder with a turbo with a Mustang body is still a scam in my eyes. A v6 or v8 is just better.
I’m not sure what you mean... Obviously the V8 is better ($10,000 upcharge so it better be), but the EcoBoost is a great car for the money.. and certainly better than the V6. From my experience with V6 mustangs, you have to ring out the 6 to get any power out of it which makes it feel like a dog in daily driving scenarios. And it doesn’t have the easy mod potential like the turbo 4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though!
320 HP 400 ft/lbs of torque 4.5 seconds 0-60 makes it faster than any GT produced before 2011 all while getting 30mpg. That's anything but "meh". It might not "sound right" but it will take a wet dump on a foxbody 5.0 all day.
I think the main reason why people complain about the EB Mustang is the sound and name. Ford could’ve called it something cooler (like Turbo or SVO) but the 4-cylinder sound makes people mad.
