I'm a Ford man,when it goes up against a Chevy. But I believe the Camaro was faster. I think the reason the Mustang went back around him,was because he was scared of the top end speed. Just my observation.

As someone who loves V8S I can appreciate both cars, I personally prefer the look of the Camaro. I would honestly love to have either cars parked in my driveway.

I have a 2018 GT manual and my girlfriend has a 2021 Camaro SS. The Camaro is faster from a dig by about a car length. Any rolls from 60MPH and it’s pretty even and once you get above 90MPH the Mustang will start to pull ahead.

I’ve owned both. I went from a 2018 ss to a 2019 RTR GT both manual transmission. The torque in the Camaro is insane but the high revving mustang is crazy too.. long story short they both will get it. Traded the Mustang for a 2020 2ss with the a10 and it feels like a rocket.

I picked up a manual 2019 Gt in April . Haven’t driven it much (890 miles since) I’ve watched rush since then. I knew the GT was tough but I didn’t know it’s a beast to take on some of the cars you’ve taken on. Great videos rush keep them coming.

I have a 2016 Camaro SS and I’ve raced a 18 5.0 mustang and from a dig I got him, off of every roll I’d have the lead for a while and then like the video he’d get me top end but at a lot higher speed then these guys. Both cars are awesome!

The Camaro’s torque advantage makes it a better track car, in my opinion. The Mustang definitely has more top end power, but that only really becomes an advantage on long straights. The Camaro would more than make that time up in the corners since it can burst faster out of the turns. As a street car, though, that Mustang is an absolute killer - especially in roll races. Also, thanks for not being an obnoxious douche like MotorTube. This was a great video, and it’s enjoyable to listen to you talk about cars.

The SS guy has added a 1LE style spoiler. It’s designed for track twist downforce but sacrifices top end speed. GT does have better high end due to greater HP, but it wouldn’t normally be so noticeable. Also seemed SS driver was timid at high speeds. Both cars are sick!

The reason Mustang has top end is because it’s DOHC vs the Camaro is Pushrod and makes more low end torque and actually falls off on the top end

The reason why the Mustang is catching up on the top end is because the Camaro has a wicker bill spoiler. This is a race track spoiler meant to add more downforce to the car. After 70 mph it will definitely start having an effect on top end acceleration. I believe it's over 100 pounds(+ or - a little) of downforce at 100 mph. Race would be much better if he had the OEM wing designed specifically for the car.

Tq vs Hp here on display. Very different engines. Cat delete is a nice upgrade as well.

My cousin has a 2023 gt 5.0 and i got the pleasure to drive it this weekend and im a die hard chevy fan but that stang had a smile on my face. I didnt race anybody but it was super fast and fun asf to drive

This outcome was expected. More torque from the big liter V8 camaro jumps in front, but the better breathing, higher revving DOHC 5.0 gets him on the top end. I like the excuses saying the camaro driver kept "letting out" on the top end. He did that on the first race, but it was clear he stayed in it for the other 4 races and it's easy to see he gets passed every time even by his own admission so the excuses arent warranted. This is just the nature of these two different V8 designs. DOHC breathes better than pushrod giving it better power in the upper rpm range while having less displacement. The pushrods have better low end torque due to higher displacement and that is seen in the outcome of these races. Of course there are other factors like vehicle weight and aerodynamics that play a role as well. And lastly.....you guys are getting it wrong. The camaro is not faster. The camaro is quicker. The mustang is faster. If you dont know the difference between those two statements then you dont know anything about racing and should educate yourself before making inaccurate statements.

The Mustang driver was not going to stop pulling until he was ahead. The Camaro driver got the best of the Mustang on the majority of pulls.

Both fast. But if anybody thinks that stang is walking the Camaro with just 5 more hp wake up. IMO the Camaro dude is laying off the gas when he’s 2 cars ahead.

Uhhh the Camaro driver let up like crazy in almost every run... had he kept on it, the Mustang's extra top-end wouldn't have been enough to catch up at the rate of acceleration earlier in the race. The Camaro was pulling even when both were close to redline and then either completely screwed up the shift or let off the gas. I wouldn't call this one a win for the Mustang at all... Not to mention, roll racing masks one of the Mustang's largest weaknesses compared to the Camaro (launch) so not really the way to race if you're serious about a holistic view of car performance.

A lot of people in the comments saying the guy in the camaro let out because he wasn’t comfortable with how fast they were going. So not only does the GT slowly reel in the Camaro, but the PP1’s suspension allows the GT to feel a lot more stable at higher speeds. I can testify as a fellow Gen 3 coyote PP1 owner

He had to be scared, because I have a 2016 stock 2SS and I have beaten every Mustang GT that's tried me. Low and top end.

I was never a fan of Camaros, but when I sold my 17 gt and picked up a 17 1LE 6spd, man I honestly am loving it, very planted, faster then my gt, looks great! And some people say “camaro owners get them because they can’t get a corvette” but not true, I’m 6”6 235, if you ever sat in a c7 you will know they are super tight inside and not comfy at all!! I can’t fit! I’m planning on building it, and Atleast make it faster then my wide body cat.

honestly what is better a 6speed manuel or 10spd auto ?

I took an 2019 2SS with my 2017 2SS. Both cars 6 speed manual transmission on 6.2L. Drivers ability on the stick and knowing when to shift makes all the difference. Rev match is only for downshifting. At 90 kmh you can downshift that Camaro to 2nd and still get put in your seat up to 125kmh where it will hit the rev limiter. I have broke traction at 90 kmh like that. You still have 4 more gears to play with. Maybe the Mustang is pretty good but I can assure you that Camaro is no pushover with the right guy behind the wheel.

Ss for the win. Drag racing isn't about top speed its about the 1/8 and 1/4 mile.

Those camaro ss’s are no joke. You need an automatic gt to have a chance and even then the camaro will jump out in you every time.

THUMBS UP regardless, almost bought a 2017 ZL1, then thought about a 2018 GT350, (test drove both) then sat in and drove a 2019 RS3 and RS5, (just traded in my 2016 S3 APR stage 2 for a RS3), and the Audi RS3, stock, feels just so much better as compared to both of the American V8 behemoths around curves; and honestly, in a straight line as well (plus the RS5 was TOO damn much but was a BEAST [porsche engine clone anyone???] :D ).
