In this video I will show you how to install roof racks cross bars on 2019 Toyota Rav4 model. This is Part Number: PT27842192 160 lb loading capacity, 80 lb on each cross bar. parts.bommaritotoyota.net/p/T...
Appreciate the detailed video! I discovered on day of a recent trip that my Toyota Rav 4 rails are not raised so I couldn't attach a rooftop bag. Will be installing these crossbars soon.
Thank you for demonstrating the installation of the cross bars. I just purchased a 2020 RAV 4 and I want to get the cross bars. You made the installation seem easy enough and now I just need to buy the cross bars. Well done.
Welcome to team Rav4,you gonna love this vehicle. Thank you for positive comments on the video. When you gonna be installing these,do not overnighter bolts, use torque wrench provided. Also at fist these roof racks gonna be making some wind noise but you will get used to it,because functionality of these roof racks beat all the negatives.
@@nazarettos6987 I did purchase the cross bars from the dealer you suggested. Great price and they should be arriving soon. Thanks again for your instructional video. I will follow your advice.
Excellent video! We are in the market for a '19 RAV4 Hybrid Limited, and also have kayaks like you. Your video and explanation answered all my questions. I think the only thing I would do differently is maybe put a little bit of releasable Loctite on the bolt. But I'm a belt-and-suspenders kind of guy when it comes to that sort of thing. I'll probably add a hitch at some point, so I'' be stopping back. Thanks!
These are so much better looking than the ugly ones Toyota offer for our RAV4 in Australia. Drives me nuts how car options change depending on the country. Been like this since forever.
As you see in my video,it exist :-) Go to this website and buy it from them parts.bommaritotoyota.net/p/Toyota_2019_RAV4/Roof-Rack-Cross-Bars/70290679/PT27842192.html
I was told same by toyota dealer in Mississauga, Canada. That is crazy! We not suppose to use roof racks. By the way what did you end up buying aftermarket Yakima or Thule?
@@ankur75757 neither as I can't find one that truly fit the Rav4. I ended up going to the States and bought one there for $225us. Dealer here in NS says that they are working with Thules to develop a model for it and dealer in QC said they should get it by end of 2019. Not impressed about that for sure.
I wonder if those weird little spring metal anti back out washers are available somewhere as replacements. If you take the bars off, you'll probably tear a couple of those up.
Many thanks for creating this video. What are the directions of the arrows. You said the arrows show into this direction, but you did not mention if the arrows should be directed to the front for both bars or to the front for the front bar and to the back on the rear bar.
@@Migspamp well this car just came out. It was only a few months on the road so everything was very expensive for this vehicle. Also, they have some aftermarket for which you have to be careful.

Just came home today with our brand new white 2020 Rav4 and i want to put a roof rack and hitch just like you..... great tutorial If that is OEM that is a good price. The dealer wants $300, where did you get yours?
Don't buy anything from the dealer for them to install. You can DIY. Follow my videos,I got some more cool videos on the way. I would have thought there would be some plug for the holes where you used the key. Open as it appears seems like invitation for debris, ice, things that attack screw holes, threads.
I installed mine using your video thank you so much. When I check the cross bars out the box one side of both bars was moving/ sliding. Is that normal? After installation nothing is moving or sliding. It feels solid.
Nazarettos would really appreciate it. I’m looking at buying a kayak weighing in at 71 lbs. I was a bit concerned about the trunk plastic on top since it feels flimsy and I don’t wanna break anything
Well I haven't remove them yet,I use it all summer. You do notice some noise at first but not really bad. I am gonna keep them on all winter. Miles per gallon still good, but not with kayak on top,but still very slight milage drop.
Ah i see now, thanks, here in mexico are selling one set of bars just like yours but at $110 US dollar, the difference is that the supports are ABS plastic, not aluminum, so thats why the difference i guess.
@@pablorm8011 sorry for late reply. Yeah you don't want any plastic support on roof racks, has to be metal. I can't even tell you how helpful these roofracks came to be.
Its odd that the loose connection on the crossbar wasn't addressed. Mine has the same things, and there is no way to tighten it. I put in spacers to fix the slack. Obviously there is a design problem with it.
Did you get any leaks on the headliner? There is an defect within the rav4 roof rack where it doesn't seal in properly, which allows water to leak inside your cabin in your headliner.
No such issues with my Rav4. Also you should not get any leaks because these roof racks simply bolt onto the metal support bracket and there is no intrusion into the cabin.
I carry very large kayak 13.5 feet on top of these racks, they are great. Very strong. These racks can hold 80lb each total 160 lb. When you evenly distribute load, these are very strong racks. I with confidence carry 80lb kayak even at high speeds.
@@nazarettos6987 I'll gladly take advice on kayaks. The fiancee just wants a 'yak, you may be familiar with that. And we want our own kayaks. For me, I'd like something with decent tracking but I think I need to also be nimble in small channels, as this will see a lot of shallow stream/bayou. This is the setting I'll try fishing in first as well. And maybe some dip netting for the old aquarium. I also live near a number of sizeable lakes, so this would be the closest to ocean I plan to take it in. I think the depth gets to 14 feet in some areas, but I don't know if I'll be out there with the randomly spotted sharks, or closer to land with the alligators. Lake gets pretty choppy too. Problem is, I've been wrong before in expectation vs use. I do often stare longingly at the pedal fishing kayaks. So it would be nice if the rack could hold that in case that's my second kayak. My plan was to hit Massey outfitters when they are rotating stock and buy one of their rentals. So far I have not nailed down a model, or even an exact length as a result. Again, I'll listen to any advice. We are looking at the Thule compass carrier at the moment because she's also interested in paddle board, and it can do one or two boats. I'm guessing two paddle boards can be done on it or a paddle board and a kayak, but that's assumption.
Im getting a highland u venture roof rack, in the manual says, maximum allowable distance between bars, should ve 32 3/8", can you tell me, the distance between bars with this bars installed???
Hello, thanks a lot for the video, I have the same car I want to know please can I find crossbars but not original Toyota, maybe other brands that the price is lower? Thanks a lot
Yes they do have very very good ones aftermarket. I'm actually gonna make another video about OEM and aftermarket. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LGHbbk-AdmE.html
What did you use to mount on the roof rack ? Bikes, kayak, etc...Reason why I asked is because I just picked up a 2020 Rav4 Limited with the racks already installed. I was thinking of mounting a bike tray for my mountain bike and was wondering how sturdy is it. I'm still skeptical as I don't know how strong these racks are compared to my other sedan's roof rack. Thanks in advance for any 411 you can provide me.
parts.bommaritotoyota.net/p/Toyota__RAV4/Roof-Rack-Cross-Bars---With-Anti-Rotation-Clip/70290679/PT27842192.html. go to that link and you will find them.
160?? Ok, your kayak is 80 pounds, so that works well for your application. How much would a kayak typically weigh? I know they are all different lengths, and some have paddle systems so it's hard to estimate. I was wanting something with decent tracking, maybe for camping and fishing, not ocean, but very large lakes as well as small bayous.
My Kayak is 75lb, and each Roofrack can handle 80 lb. 160 is total load capacity. I tested these roofracks well, I drove on the highway with Kayak on top no problems, all summer long.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aevkTpJmIms.html
@@nazarettos6987 ah, I'm sorry I saw that in the video. I failed to mention that I'm trying to put two kayaks up top. I'll check the video you linked, thanks.
Did you tighten the bolts that fasten the cross rails to the feet? You showed that the cross rails slid a little at the beginning of the video. Doesn't seem necessary because the assembly is rigid when attached to the vehicle - as you showed. I'm asking because I did not get complete instructions. Your video helped fill in the gaps - thanks!
I’m about to install my crossbars on my rav4...one question I have: early on in your video, when you were showing the crossbars, on the bottom of the crossbar, there were 2 screws with star-shaped adjustment holes...it appears they are loose on one side of each crossbar, as if to allow a little allowance if you need a small length adjustment of the rail when you are installing them. My question is: did you end up tightening down the star-shaped screws or is it not necessary? (I didnt see a tool enclosed in the kit for this purpose).
No adjustment needed, they are screwed in tight. I used these crossbars all summer,no problems, very strong. I carry 13.5 ft kayak on top all summer,no problems whatsoever, also noise is not that bad when sunroof is closed.
The play is designed in to accommodate slightly different widths of the fore/aft roof rails. You will not be able to tighten the screws to minimize the play. Once installed, there will be no left to right play in the crossbars as they will be anchored and held rigid from the opposite side.
Hi, getting it installed from toyota when ordering as an accessory is cheaper or buying it after purchase cheaper? Also no parking sensors even in XLE premium Hybrid. It says you have to opt for a package, which package is that? And taking 39000 dollars and can't give us parking sensors! This is why I am cancelling my plans for this vehicle. I am highly disappointed. Nothing is standard on any trim except wheel size and moon roof. Seriously!
Buy those roof racks after you get your car. Dealer with try making extra money on you. You can order these for 170$ Well if you buy For or Chrysler they will start falling a part at 45_60k miles. Toyota is well made vehicles and they don't depreciate fast.
Unless you are using them I do not understand putting them on , they are noisy and they increase fuel consumption so that's does not make for a good drive.
