2020 Camaro ZL1 1LE Dyno!! How much horsepower will it make?

Took the 2020 Camaro ZL1 1LE to get get dyno tested at Pro Dyno. It is stock except for rotofab cold air intake dry, and awe touring axle back, with bp 93 gas.
Dyno is a dynojet in std 5 correction, it was cold like 45 degrees this day so prime conditions, aka boost weather!!
Made 588, 587.16, 587.87 whp
Did a top speed run in 5th gear and hit 173mph at redline

Your engine must have been built on a Wednesday! 😂 A 15% loss puts it at 691hp at the crank!

Very cold weather, especially when it's dry out, makes for higher than normal horsepower because the air is denser. When it's 90+ degrees and muggy out you'll see at least a 40hp loss from these figures, maybe even 60.

Why can't it reach top speed on 6th gear?

6th is an overdrive for saving fuel, it won't accelerate the car past about 130mph because the wind resistance is too much to overcome for the very tall gearing in 6th. Fourth is the fun gear, fifth is the top speed gear, sixth is for cruising. The first time you're going about 150 and you upshift from fifth to sixth and floor it but the car starts slowing down is kind of weird.

@@CamaroWarrior Usually whichever gear in the transmission is closest to 1:1 is best for top speed runs but it also depends on the gear in the rear end and the drag coefficient of the vehicle. If you're not doing the math, just figure any gear labeled as an overdrive isn't going to be useful for glory runs. The top two gears in 10 speeds are usually overdrives.

​@Abzocold none of that applies to a ZL1 1LE. The ZLEs have a 0.68:1 6th gear with the M6 and reach their top speed in 6th gear (over 185mph). The regular ZL1 has a 0.54:1 6th which can't be used for top speed.

@@v1nc3mc I won't argue which gear as I've not personally driven a 1LE manual. But the top speed is debatable as I have seen multiple manual 1LE's top out between 173 and 179 on the Merritt Island, Florida runway and at the secret squirrel race facility in the part of north Florida that's in Mexico. The extra aero for cornering hurts the top speed is the consensus from the drivers. I imagine any that have broken 180 had very good air, was modified or was a ten speed. I'll bet temporarily removing the giant wing would be good for more than a few mph for sure. Other cars with less horsepower and no aero or fake aero have gone faster.
