Wife Here!! That was my first track race so gimme a break on that time! And I DID want that race! They waved me up and thought I had to go... I ran 11.3 second time. And yes, stock w 650hp. Maybe get chance for rematch.
I'd love a rematch! And sorry if I said anything bad, it wasn't my intention, was just looking forward to that second race since I wasn't planning on another run at that point. I get what happened though with the track staff, I've had that happen to me before too.
I here a 392 is already maxed from the factory. I mean I guess headers would make a difference however you wouldn't be able to sell it @ a dealership...
Personally, if I'm drag racing it, auto. Or if it's going to be my daily driver where I'm regularly in rush hour traffic, also auto. Otherwise I'd probably go manual.
I definitely didn't think it would turn out like that. Now though I don't want to ever go to the track again without my 17's and in top race form. I never know what I'm going to line up against.
@@nukegm67 I don't know enough about Camaro's to say one way or the other, but if that's true then that makes this race even more surprising! He mentioned having a CAI, but that's it. I never saw it with the hood open either though.
@Scavenger1320 yea but you still got walked...soo even with him sleeping at the light you had no chance..dude even put his wife in the seat lol.....all that ranting you did was totally irrelevant ..unnecessary. cuz you still loss..should of been grateful he slept and got you the views you got lol
Great video! Close run against that ZL1!! New fan here! If you live near that drag strip, I'm about 2 and a half hours south of you!! Once I get my torque converter fixed, we need to run em!
I live about an hour and a half north of Ennis, but that's my main track. I'll be out there again either the 21st or 28th for the next Hot Summer Nights. I'm down to running em anytime!
That's really impressive! Keeping up with ZL1's is a major feat. I love what you did with this challenger and I surely hope you are able to hit that 10 second mark with the stock drivetrain. One question I have is how different does this feel to drive than the stock version, is there a major difference in how it handles or does it just feel lighter?
Thanks! I can definitely feel the lightness. It just seems to want to take off even more so than it did fully stock. It's also not as "floaty" imo, since there's not as much weight bearing down on the suspension, but that also does make the ride feel a little stiffer. I can feel the bumps more. But that could also partly be because I can hear every bump too without any interior.
ayyy i love when you upload brotha, unfortunately im still waiting for my 1320 :/ Now its the end of august it looks like. Thanks again for your help on instagram a few months ago
Sorry to hear about the wait. I know it can suck, but at least you're only missing out on the hottest part of the summer when it's the slowest! And I'm always happy to help anytime I can. Thanks for watching!
A little bit, but it's also less weight overall. It's not enough to be really noticeable by itself, but it all adds up. I'd think it makes a bigger impact on non 1320s that don't already have a drag-tuned suspension.
Keep in mind... out on the street you're much more likely to run into Mustang GT's and Camaro SS's instead of supercharged ZL-1s... and the 1320 will easily blow the doors off those cars because that Challenger is laying down the power much more effectively. Horsepower doesn't wins races... it's 'torque to the ground'... ;)
What's funny is I have yet to race any Mustang at all or a Camaro SS. I've raced a ZL1 twice though now. That's on the dragstrip of course, I don't race on the street.
I'm heading to The track on Sunday atco NJ what did you bring your tire's down to air pressure running on stock Drag radials probably almost a full tank of gas wasn't expecting to go but meeting up with a bunch of friends last minute decision Last time I was there was in April hopefully I break My 12 sec run
I normally run the rears around 22 psi. That's with both the stock Nexens and the 17" Mickeys, and with decent track prep. The Nexens don't like a cold weather though so I try to heat them up a bit more than usual with a cold track. Good luck out there tomorrow! I'm betting you'll break that last run.
Just got my scat pack I can’t wait to drag it. I’m also a light guy…128 lbs that should help, I set the record for the fastest stock 5.7 so we will see what I can do in the 6.4!
Congrats! I'm sure you'll love it. I remember watching that video of yours. It'd be impossible for me to get anywhere near your weight. Too bad you're all the way up in Michigan, otherwise if it was record-breaking weather I'd ask you to take mine down the 1/4!
@@Scavenger1320 if you lived in Michigan we would meet up all the time! I would be honored to run the gutted 1320 down the strip it would be a hell of a ride that’s for sure!
@@Scavenger1320 I’d love to meet up with u next year! Also… Milan drag strip went bankrupt so there is no more racing there! My Instagram is 8speedscat so if u add me on there we can contact each other easier
can you make a quick video about the EVIC in your 1320 ive never seen that menu at the beginning before in my scatpack? i weighed in at 4625 with me in the car 21 scatpack charger full weight and what is a good DA for TMP
I could do something like that. I finally started playing around with the settings on it last week and actually thought about doing a video but decided not to at the time. During the summer you can pretty much just expect 3000-3500 DA. The 2700 I saw is low for July, but it was also past midnight. Best I've seen it was around -400. That was last October when the temps got down to the low 50s and no humidity. During April's Big Showdown it wasn't too bad, I think it was close to 2000 mid day and dropped down to a 1000 at night.
what size and type of tires you have in your challenger? Also what settings you run on? Track , sport or what custom settings? What did you do to lighten up the car weight?
The night of this race I was just running on my stock 20"x9.5" wheels all around with the factory stock 275 Nexen drag radials on the back. I drove the car to the track this night and didn't feel like swapping wheels there. Normally I have a 17" drag wheel setup with 17x10 billet specialties win lites on the back and 17x4.5 on the front. For tires I ran M/T ET Street Rs but I just switched to Hoosier DBRs. All of my settings are set to 'DRAG' mode which includes engine/trans, traction, suspension, and steering. And for weight reduction basically anything I don't need to drive on the road has been removed, so basically the entire interior, front sway bar, and some engine dress-up stuff. I also have a lightweight racing seat and lightweight battery. That's probably the bulk of it.
Eventually I'll do some minor bolt-ons, nothing past the intake manifold though. First I want to see what I can do solely with weight reduction. I'm striving to break into the 10's with a completely stock powertrain. A little more weight reduction and a good cold negative DA day it *_might_* be possible.
@@Mrbobcat7 I have an entire Playlist with everything I've done weight wise, but summed up its: passenger seat, rear seat, all speakers, door panel trim, rear panel trim, rear seat belts, trunk trim, front sway bar, lightweight front bumper support, engine bay trim, windshield washer reservoir, fog lights, horns, 17" Drag wheel setup with front skinnies, and probably a few other small things I'm forgetting at the moment.
@@Scavenger1320 Nice. I'm thinking of ordering either one of those or a WB. I plan on getting the seats and the upgraded audio so it won't be near as fast. But it will be mainly a DD and just may take it to the track once in awhile.
@@Mrbobcat7 Either one would be awesome. WB would definitely be a lot more fun on the road and taking curves. Even with the seats and audio they're still fast. Plenty of 1320s have still gone into the 11s with all the extra options.
I knew I was never gonna drag race but I still got a 1320😂😂. They still much faster than other scats on the street! I got 3.7 sec 0-60 multiple times and 3.8 too many times to count on the street🚀
@danieljohn4603 then a 1320 where you live would be even faster as it's lighter, has the demon suspension mode for weight transfer ect...and wouldn't be in warranty with those drag radials but the 1320 is it's really unique...also slightly looser stall...
Any idea how much weight is removed if a stock Scat swaps the rear seat for the factory replacement panels ( delete option)? I don't want to daily drive the car with the rear seats out all the time unless the official Dodge cover-up panels are installed. Thanks
I would guess about 50 pounds maybe. I can't remember exactly how much all the rear seat pieces weighed but the number 44 sounds familiar and I know all the rear seat belts are about 6-7 pounds total. I don't have the delete kit so I don't know how much that weighs but its obviously pretty light.
Thanks! He was actually way heavier than me. My car weighed in at 3885 without me that night. He said he weighed about 4500 but I don't know if that included him or not. He had full interior and said he had a bunch of options in it.
@@Scavenger1320 well that makes it even more of an impressive 🏁 👏 Just stock chevy has that top end yet torque the Dodge has that advantage. Both great cars but to me dodge is just a more fun experience... I bought a 2021 392 scat widebody but camaro was on my list as well because I'm truly a chevy man. After test driving both, that Dodge just gives you that rush!
I know they show the stage kits "under development" for 392s. I'm definitely keeping tabs on that. I'm hoping to be able to get in on it whenever they finally get it out. Seems they're constantly running into delays with the first kits for hellcats.
It does come stock with a transbrake, but Dodge made it so complicated to use that probably 99% of all Demon/1320 owners never use it. Anytime you mess up one step the car goes into limp mode while it resets. So on this day it was all footbrake.
I use my transbrake virtually everyday. It was a little confusing for the very first time but it’s like riding a bike now. Very easy only takes me 3-4 seconds to set up and be ready to launch!
@@aarondavis819 The problem is when you're racing at the track on a pro tree 3-4 seconds means the other guy is already at the 330' mark before you even leave the starting line. I was able to get it setup just fast enough on a full tree to still cut a good light, but with a pro tree there's just not enough time. And honestly I found it doesn't make any kind of difference to justify the risk. This past weekend I tested it out again. First run I went off idle and hit a 1.55 60', Next run I used the transbrake (testing so reaction time didn't matter), and I got a 1.62 60'. It can be fun to use, just not in real competition.
But then there'll always be someone faster! I honestly have no plans on boosting, I like playing in the naturally aspirated playground and giving the stock supercharged guys a run for their money.
People don't go taking this as reality...bring that shit to Cleveland ohio, add .5-1.0 et. I remember back in 1998, guys were claiming bone stock 98 ls1 z28s running low 12s to high 11s in Houston, but in North East ohio, mid to high 13s even low 14s
Not Cleveland, but here’s where I took my shit up to Detroit last August ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NQu9yQZFCf8.html Times are actually faster, although i did have my drag wheels on there, not to mention this vid is July in Dallas, not January in Houston. Conditions this night weren’t any better than what I see in the Midwest and definitely worse than what I usually see up there
That’s one takeaway, but racing is between drivers too, not just cars. If you take reaction times out of the mix though, I would have still won outright in the 1/8th mile, and the 1/4 times weren’t as lopsided as I thought they’d be, and that’s with that run being one of my slowest 1/4 times I’ve had in this car.
The guy beat you by 4 tenths and had 15 mph on you how do you call it a close race? Had he had a proper reaction time you would have gotten gapped badly right off the line . Why try to paint a different picture? Hellcats are about even to a Zl1 not 1320.
Simple, a race isn't only between cars, the driver plays a part, if they didn't then whats even the point of racing? We may as well just line up autonomous cars next to each other and press a button. So yeah, it was a close race between 2 drivers and their cars. If all we're doing is comparing the ETs on timeslips and ignoring the drivers then I'll just throw out the fact that my car has gone 11.03 and has beaten hellcats on the track too.
@@camirocz Well, if it's competition is a Hellcat then so am I, because I compete with stock Hellcats all the time and have beaten them. Here's another time I lined up against a ZL1. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vgGtsIQRtdo.html It's timestamped so it should take you right to it. My car was even closer this time. I had a faster 1/8 ET but then same situation on the back half, except I was only 3 tenths slower this time while also letting off the throttle by quite a bit. I only trapped at 104 this run when I trapped 119 on my previous run before that. It's clear the ZL1's strength is in the back half, while mine is the front half, and that makes the races closer than I thought they would be considering I'm just powered by a 485 horsepower naturally aspirated 6.4.
@@camirocz yup, my car has weight reduction, I don't hide that fact and I never claimed my car to be stock because of that. The ZL1 in the other race I linked had drag wheels on the back and my car out 60 footed him and took him all the way through the 1/8. I'm not kidding anyone about anything, if I was trying to I wouldn't show the actual timeslips and I never said my car was faster either.
I'm gonna stuck with weight reduction for now and then some bolt-ons. That should be enough to get me into the 10s. I've honestly never been much of a fan of nitrous.
