My goodness this was absolutely stunning! Your arrangement is great, showcasing the people and iconic NYC buildings beautifully! Great upload. Merry Christmas, from June 2022! 🎀🎄🎀
@@danadoan will you do an updated video?! Ive watch this video a few times to get ideas for my village. Im in awe. How long have you been collecting? Is every piece from the CITC collection?
Some amount of work went into this, amazing attention to detail. Brought back memories of when I went to NYC in December 2017..... rockettes & Radio City, Rockefellar Plaza, Macy's, you captured it all. It brought back many memories. NYC at Christmas is a must-see and should be on everybody's bucket list. Anyway, fantastic work. Love it!
@@danadoan It definitely is! I hope to get back again next Christmas, hopefully things will be better then with the covid situation and everything 🤞🎄🤶🎅 wonderful piece of work ❤️👏👏👏
@@danadoan I'm so glad I went before happened, before all these restrictions were put in place. I read tourists were visiting again so hopefully next year it will more or less be back to normal 🤞🗽
You are incredibly talented! I hope someday to create something half as beautiful as this 🤩 Could you please tell me where you got the big tall flatiron building? 🙏❤️
Thank you very much Vanessa. I love creating these displays. Will try to do some tutorial videos this Christmas. If you message me on Facebook messenger, I’ll send you some pics of the process. facebook.com/dana.d.stein
Just stunning! And all the little details like the Christmas balls in the sleigh, and the cafe tables perfect. Where did you get the trees in the metal grates? I've been looking for those
@@danadoan You really have to know the pieces to recognize their origins. A normal person would never even guess what was done there for those pieces to look like that.
Wow you really captured the feeling of true new york. Im so impressed. This is my favorite display ive ever seen and an inspiration. Did you repaint the house with the luxury store brands? Or did you use stickers? Its genius.
Also could you please let me know what brand name and model number are those super cute trees on the sidwalks with the iron square railings, please. They are sooo new york.
Thank you so much Anthony. That was my little tribute to the city that had given so much to me. My friend did a few rehabs for me from other original Dept56 buildings. He painted, changed interior window scenes and made signs with stickers. I did Channel and Starbucks myself.
@@danielanthonyestrada128They’re called ‘city lit bare branch tree’. They’re retired a long time ago so you’ll have to look for them in a secondary markets. retiredproducts.department56.com/products/city-lit-bare-branch-tree
I was so impressed i had to come back and look at your other vids and comment again. Do you put up two villages or have you decided to go with CIC from here on instead of Dickens?
Thank you. I decided to alternate different collections. This is the first year I built NYC. I’m working on North Pole now. I was going to do Harry Potter after North Pole but I don’t think I have the energy. I’ll go back to Dickens next year.
Love, love, love your display! It is truly amazing. I am struggling now to layout my streets for a city. I don't suppose your layout is available anywhere? Sorry if this is asking for too much but I have watched your video numerous times trying to figure out how you have set up your blocks and can't manage.
I wish I could add photos here. But basically, the whole display is sitting on 2-inch thick styrofoam sheets. The blocks that the houses are sitting on are 0.5-inch styrofoam sheets that I carved and painted. If you send me a FB messager messages, I’ll send you some pics of the bases. facebook.com/dana.d.stein
I couldn't manage to add you to messenger but my email is soonerdka@gmail.com. Thanks so much for your kind offer. I will be very happy if my display turns out even half as good as yours
I love your village 😍 Please, would you tell me what kind of building is the big house behind the shoe shop? It seems like it is from wood or paper and it looks great 🤩
This is so stunning! Beautifully done. How do you hide your cords so well? do you have holes under the buildings? P.S. thank you for the tip on making the sidewalks, I tried my hand at them for this years display. :-)
Thanks Paulette. I made a styrofoam base so holes were carved underneath the buildings. All the street lights and lighted accessories go through those holes. The great thing about styrofoam is you can make channels and push the cords into those channels
Thank you Marlene. Those shops were rehabbed buildings from other original Dept56 buildings. I rehabbed to make Chanel and Starbucks and my friend did Manolo, Macy’s and others for me.
if you consider selling "Cupcakes by bella" plz let me know... i have watched this video more than 10 times :P that's the reason i started collecting CIC a year ago
Hi Dana it’s me again I was watching your video’s again because they are so fun but I was wondering what do you use to film with because the quality is always just stunning……
All the buildings are from Department 56 Christmas in The City collection. All the retired items I got from secondary market place (like FB marketplace or eBay). The current pieces I got from department 56 dealers. Do a search on Amazon and eBay for ‘department 56 Christmas in the city’ and see what’s available.
Well Dana I have to say your really good at this. Like the Chanel building is that really a department 56 building or did you paint that also. I wish you would make a video of how you do this all. Because your really good at it. So much talent in your family. I saw your video of you son playing the piano what a talent he has. Thank you for the great talent.
A lot of the Asian figurines are from King and Country Old Street of Hong Kong. There’s 2 houses/accessories from Dickens Village. The other CIC building is called ‘Golden Ox’.
You can use hair dryer to gently blow on the window. The ‘glass window’ is glued on with hot glue so the glue will melt. Then you can again gently blow on the objects inside the window to remove them.
I used - CIC Welcoming Christmas for Chanel Dairy Queen for LV (my friend did this and the next two for me) Davidson’s Department Store for Macy’s Lafayette’s Bakery for Manolo Blahnik.
Hello. could you tell me how you did the writing for the high end stores? Manolo Blank, Louis Vuitton and Channel? I am modeling my Christmas after yours.
I just used dark gray mixed with a little more black in the grooves. Basically I painted the whole surface with that dark color. Then dry brushed lighter gray on top.
I don’t have any brownstone with the light up Santa in the front. Are you talking about this one? retiredproducts.department56.com/products/parkside-holiday-brownstone
@@enricoviani1204 I made the cobble stone bases myself. The bases (blocks of buildings) are 1/2 inch styrofoam sheets that I carved using the Hotwire foam cutters/carved. Then I painted dark color and dry-brushed with the lighter color.
