I use to be a Daiwa man I collected most of the Daiwa reels but the new Shimano range look so good and now I’m collecting Shimano reels I’ve got most of them now and loving them.
Body flex and less rigidity. Also it's a two piece body with screws to hold the plates together. Screws can rust and just looks ugly. The monocoque body allows the Certate to house a much thicker, larger and stronger main gear which means more durability, less wear and more power. Enough for your small brain to take? Lol.
@@slyarsenalyou’re arrogant and ignorant. 1 screw monoque body won’t distribute the load efficiently like a normal screwed body that distribute the load evenly and efficiently. I do love Daiwa products they look fantastic and are more to my taste but their technology is not as wise as some thinks and it’s actually bad for the long term. Moreover their customer service is very bad in many regions and the magseald fluid are not sold by daiwa so you actually need to either send the reel to them which isn’t cheap and takes time or to order a non authorized fluids online that does the job but still makes it not convenient to deal with daiwa so do yourself a favor don’t be arrogant and read in forums about daiwa repairs daiwa technologies stack up some real advises from people who work with both daiwa and shimano repairs and knows about the gear technology materials and body and then you could base a good comparison between this reels
So explain how there's rumors that the certate insides rust after a couple months of usage? Where the tp has alot of screws but has no issues of rusting
I don’t do enough Saltwater fishing but I do have flagship Freshwater Reels from Daiwa and Shimano. ( Exist vs Stella FJ ) I love them both, zero complaints. I look at it like this, if you can afford either or, you’ve made it in life. Not everyday do people spend $700-800 on a reel.
I like the gear of Saltiga and the knob of Stella. If I would to pick one, I would go for the Saltiga. I know overall performance is with the Stella but I just love the power of Daiwa better than the finesse of Shimano. That is why I have a Penn for bigger fish and Daiwa for mid size and Shimano for small.

@@armandotorres2283 Um, I have 8 stellas including 5x 2013 model and 3 of the 2020. A 10000pg, and the first person in NZ to get the 2020 30000. I have a 2018 Daiwa Bay Jigger 4000SH, which has the monocoque frame also, and is just a smaller 2020 Saltiga basically and a 2011 Daiwa Catalina 6500H, which I really like. I may get the 2020 Saltiga in 20000 size, since I don't have a 20000 size reel. In NZ Shimano own most the market because they have a service and parts centre, so easy aftermarket service. Daiwa don't and there's only one place that services Daiwa, but not Daiwa owned, so buying a $1800 Daiwa in NZ can be a risky business if a reel grinds to a halt, like what happened the very first time I spun an Okuma Makaira 30000, just spooling it up-horrid grinding sound...took it back to shop and pre-ordered the 1st Stella SW-C 30000 to land in New Zealand. I do all my own servicing, but cannot get the Magseal magnetic oil for less than $2000 for 100ml, and not sure I would be happy opening them up like I do the Shimanos/Penns. I love the Penn Torque and Torque II reels, and think they are a score for half the price of a new Saltiga/Stella. I have them too. Over 50 spinning reels and 30 overheads, like my Daiwa Kyohga 1000SHL and Shimano Ocea Jigger and Alutecnos 80w 2-speed. I have held and spun the new Saltigas, and they are really nice, but trying too hard to be a Stella. Same paint scheme and even copied the sizings of the Stellas. I don't understand it, since Daiwa have always done their own thing. One thing I do prefer on the Saltiga is the new egg knob. If I owned one, it would be the first reel (and maybe some of the new smaller 2020 stella's) that I wouldn't change the knob for an aftermarket one. They are really nice knobs.......that's sounds weird to type lol. If Daiwa get their act together in NZ, I would def get the 20000 Saltiga 2020. Cheers bro
Daiwa makes the world's best tackle. You wouldnt believe some of the models not even available in the USA that most anglers never get to see. Like saltiga mavericks. And the prices are off the charts
I think Dawai has built a stronger and more powerful wheel than Shimano. Especially the construction of the Saltiga. But for some reason, I brought a Stella... Maybe a childhood dream.
I just bought a 2020 model 6000 stella I also own daiwa 8000 dogfight And daiwa 5500 expedition And few other more affordable reels But when it comes to Stella vs Saltiga the Saltiga comes out on top it just feels more extensive and better built they are really solid when you pay $1500 for a stella you should not expect to get a plastic handle just feels cheap that's my honest opinion
@@fakhrulafdal1847 you can use both but when it comes to the Dogfight it has lot of stopping power but its a big and heavy reel its very hard to use it more than few hours at the time the Expo 5500 its a lot lighter but you can still land big fish if i was going to buy one to spin with it all day it would be the expo 5500

@@kkainaluu808 This is why I would like to see reasonably objective test to avoid assumptions of this type (this or that - would probably, should probably etc.). Each manufacturer has its own technology and it is not known without a test which one is better in this particular field.
I own Saltiga 20 8000p, Stella swc 14000xg, Stella swc 8000hg and Twinpower 8000 pg. Among all I like SWC Stella most. What I did not like in Saltiga 20 is braid roller ring and rollers inside. They are tight and broken quickly. My shimanos' roller never stuck or broken
@@ballisticlt7452 i Bought the stella (as i stated above) purely on servicability where i live, if i were fishing mainly from boat and had service near me, i would pick the saltiga, no doubt. but i fish from the sandy beach, so not good for the magseals. i can strip the new stella down easily and service.
The only way to get a proper comparison is to take them jigging for amberjack or casting stickbaits for a week etc. Playing with them at home like novelty toys is very fanciful and Millenial in approach. Anyway, In my opinion saltiga is the better choice in spite of the servicing issue. Five years ago I think they were on par but daiwa slowly edged their way in front. I’ve seen daiwa 5500 expeditions stop gts upward of 20kg without taking a click of drag. I’ve also noticed some of the features in the newer daiwas such as spool design, handle, drag knob, lack of exposed screws etc are now noticeably superior. You pointed these things out nicely.
The older saltigas are workhorses. Bullet proof and indestructible. As long they’re serviced. Like all reels Own the following pre mag seal saltigas 2 3500 blasts 1 45 maverick 1 6000 gt 1 6500 expedition 2 dogfights I’m trying to stop. Buying
Light weight for the key. Probably jogging with 18000 Saltiga should be ok but im prefer 14000 for stickbait or popper. Still plenty power plus enough line spool capacity for pe8.
Stella smoother than Saltiga because Saltiga has huge gear teeth that effect the rotation streamliness. But Saltiga tougher than Stella when fighting with a monster because Saltiga has bigger gear, plus monocoque body and also it's rotor are very stiff. Saltiga's drag are more powerful than Stella. Whilst Stella feel a bit flexible when fighting with big fish. It feel like 'thick plastic' (stella) VS metal (saltiga). I dont know how to describe it but what can i say its really feel like that.
100% agree. I think the 2019 Stella went backwards from it's 2013 model. I still have a 2008 Stella and that's still more a solid reel than the latest Stella. For me the current Saltiga blows all of them away
Have both of them , use them together always , Stella little more smooth and cast little better , saltiga solid smooth drag . Similar reels , can’t tell which is better . Both deserve to have . In US, One thing stella way better is Shimano service , top notch, always fast and very low cost . Daiwa service sucks ! That could be reason that Stella over saltiga . Did Saltiga change the materials they used on the gears and just oversized them? While Stella still using the Marine Bronze cold forged gears C6169? The reels look so alike, they are both like a salty-tella.
Love Daiwa but I will always be a Shimano guy. I wouldn't mind either one. At the price point of both, there's no comparison they will both get the job done.
and I think that is a big deal--even if you don't do a full service, I don't like being "locked out" of my own reel, especially if in the field I need to swap out a simple part, or other minor service.
Clear wide forward angel of stella is better , body construction of daiwa seems more powerfull but yet to be tested for long term durebility n nothing to show how easy to take it apart plus magseal thing makes it tough for individual service. For me stella still my favourite reel to go.
I have the Stella 14000 and the Saltiga 5500 Expedition. They are both smooth and are very tight in their build all around. As for the looks they both have their own characteristics. As for the drag- I believe the Saltiga Expedition will be better.
Yeah I’ve got Saltiga expedition 5500h as well. Which is my one of favorite reel. Jigging or casting no problem at all!! You have nice setup good on you!

I'll be totally honest. I put both reels side by side and the Saltiga makes the Stella feel grindy. I'm a Stella person but I Bought a Saltiga 14k HG. Would of been stupid not to. Play with both before buying either
Then you will notice one major flaw ( in my opinion) of the Saltiga in the Spool drag-knob cavity... The design allows for the accumulation of seawater and stays stagnant in that cavity....Let us know after you fished extensively with it, if there are adverse effects from this design. Thanks

Haris Buza correction. He removed all the Daiwa reels down from his recommended lists. This is after too many people complained over a period of usage.

Alan Hawk describes the Saltiga as the only perfect reel he's seen - apparently the Saltigas perfectness has saved his depression. He's not a fan of the new Stella - with all its flaws, he rates it lower than the newest saragosa. He does not list Daiwa reels since they are mag sealed and there are complications in servicing magsealed reels
i bounced back and forth between the Saltiga and Stella 14k. bought the stella purely b/c ease of self service, the magseals are not easy to deal with at home (no service centres for either brand in my country). fish mainly from beach and there have been a few reports (anecdotal, take with pinch of salt) that the magseals dont stand up well to sea and sand.. is much more of a boat reel
Its the Saltiga for me, I have the expedition, it has not let me down. In fact Daiwa has never let me down, I have used their reels for almost 40 years. Shimano I have had trouble with the stella and the tiagra, both high end reels. The first reel i used was actually a Shimano, but once I used Daiwa, I never looked back. Of course I cannot vouch of any China made Diawas, I never buy China made reels of any brand, all of them I had have given me trouble, bar a small China made Diawa that I had bought my son when I was teaching him to fish.
What about the Torq ? Stella smooth when turns free but Saltiga is more and more better on load. When the handle of Stella says " I have finished" Saltiga says "Is that all ,you can do?" Just the rotor break system of Saltiga is enought to buy it.
yea but shimano only really has 2 decent reels which are stella and saragosa then the rest are pretty ordinary, in my opinion. I too have 2 stellas and 2 Saltigas and i know which reel i go to when im serious..! saltiga and daiwa all the way, no comparioson if you ask me! would you buy something who only and just specialises in fishing or someone who makes other stuff as well?
ice tee so you really think shimano has only made 2 “decent” reels? If anything they make some of the best low-mid ranged reels on the market. Sienna? Stradic? Spheros? Nasci? All amazing reels. I cant remember the last time daiwa actually made a good reel that was under $600.
@@bruhfish6117 mr kook fishin, you seem to forget daiwas mid range. surely you can see all the other brands are somehow copying daiwas rotor system, wouldnt you agree? i think without being biased Daiwa has the best rotor system no doubt about it.! dont get me wrong i have FJ5k and FK2500 and i think they are ok and same goes for Spheros. I also have a Nasci as well. So i have had some experience with the Shimanos but i keep tend to always go back to daiwa. Have you checked out and i mean have you used the Daiwas Ballistic? they are a mid range, and i tell you ballistic feels so much well made inside and outside, it even looks better!
Hi mate just bought the new saltiga 14000xh and was wandering if I could use it for shore jigging off the rocks as well. I know the low gear reels are better suitable but got told that the new saltiga xh would handle shore jigging pretty well. What's your opinion on it?
