No other top driver would have chosen Mercedes because it was literally impossible to predict that they would be able to produce such a monster of a car in the 2014 regulations. Its not like McLaren in the late 80s or Williams in the early 90s where they could attract the best talent on the grid but more like Brawn in 2009

He was good, but not great. 2007 his most impressive year, the rest he didn’t do much. In comparison, Schumacher performed miracles in 1996 with a midfield Ferrari at best. Hamilton could never dream of this.
