2020 Hyundai Elantra Limited - POV First Impressions

just got this as my first car, absolutely love it

I purchased this car. Love it for a commuter car. I commute 3.5-4 hours a couple of days a week. I had the 55 mpg Ioniq but it was not comfortable. This car is comfortable and a great daily driver, averaging 39.5 mpg in my first week. I'm still building trust with the lane keep assist. It works pretty good. I feel far less stressed out, no back pain and far less fatigue at the end of my drives. :-)

I bought a used 2019 base SE for dirt cheap since it was high miles and a 6 speed manual as my first car. 5 months in and it's been very efficient and reliable without problems

Props to Hyundai for making a pretty good continuously variable transmission~ I've never driven a car with a CVT, only torque converter automatics, but this one seems pretty good.

I had one of these as a rental, it was a lower trim but it looked and felt amazing for what it is, with this car you get a lot of bang for your buck, I can't believe a sub compact car has all of these features. I would recommend this over a Corolla.

The 2021 Elantra is a huge step up from this.

The new one looks good, but I think the last gen looked way better

I have a 2013 limited and everything still looks like new. People think it’s a fairly new vehicle. I just say nah. It’s a 2013. Lol. 129,000 miles on it. Good cars.

I have a 2020 Kona with the DCT and the that CVT is SO lackluster by comparison. It seems sooo smooth in normal driving but it falls apart the second you want to go anywhere. You were ragging on that little car, I was cracking up. Nice commuter car, really not meant to be pushed at all. Love these first impressions vids, thank you!

I bought a certified used 2020 Value Edition 2.0 in 2023. One owner. Well maintained. 47,700 miles. I'm very impressed with its comfort and functionality. The buttons and knobs are very well labeled too. The steering is pretty good too, except for a tiny bit of over steer. I'm very impressed with the steering wheel's response after making a turn by rotating back. The CVT gives me great mileage, but causes some lack in acceleration from a complete stop. The tech found in the interior is my style seeing I like the advantage of interior technology but rather keep it practical. My only 2 complaints so far are the design of the front bumper and the visibility out the rear windshield. I already had to get the front bumper replaced due to 2 cracks that occurred on those triangular shapes after slightly nudging a parking block. Even though the car comes standard with a backup camera, I find the angle of the rear windshield to cause a limited amount of rear view while driving.

We own two of the current generation Elantras, a 2017 and a 2019. I really like the amount of tech you get for a low price, i.e. active safety features like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, Android Auto/Apple Carplay, etc. I also like the well-designed button layout and the excellent visibility out all sides. My only real complaint is that the suspension could be a little less bouncy going over bumps in the road. But I've read that the 2020 has improved suspension too.

Quite like the look of this.. Interior reminds me a little of the Seat Leon

Alot of people dont like the front end of the new Elantra, but I really like it. - would love to buy a sport model in a year or so.

I own a 2017 Elantra Limited, and I worked for a Hyundai dealer for a short time over the summer - these cars are unbeatable for the price. My 2017 Limited makes me feel like I'm driving a car that's a class above, and even the new 2020 bare bones SE trims are outstanding cars - well equipped, built well, and fun to drive. Transporting the 2020's and taking short drives in them, I was floored finding out they were CVT's! Under low speeds/stress you cannot tell the difference, they are smooth & responsive transmissions. Honestly, anyone looking for affordable, reliable transportation should look no further - and definitely shop around to see if you can find any 2019's left this time of year (we had crazy rebates on them over the summer, I can only imagine the kind of deals you could get now!)

I hate lane assist😩. But other than that this car is good on corners. No body rolls or anything 🔥and it just drives smooth

Great video as always! I wish it didn’t have a CVT. If it came with an optional manual I would have been fine with the CVT. Too bad it’s the sole transmission.

You should compare this too the 2020 Toyota Corolla

This competes against the mazda 3 2.0 skyactiv g GS model. For the mazda 3 GT sedan 2.5 skyactiv g there is the elantra sport 1.6t which destroys the mazda. The mazdas interior is nicer but this design came out in 2016. It was refreshed last year so a new car will be coming soon.

I already get 34/35 combined with the 2019 traditional 6 speed auto. But the lease i got is a pile. So many issues with the car. Will be returning it in 15 months.

In europe 2020 Elantra whit 1.6 127hp and 6speed base price is 14k euros

What does the + and - mean on the shifter?

I have the 2017 Elantra. I think Hyundai took a step back with the headlight design on the 2019-2020 model. Doesn't quite match the car's design.

Man surprised how dated this thing looks. Hyundai went for blood with the new sonata and it looks incredible. This on the other hand might as well be from a different company. Though I suppose they can’t put that kind of development into their full line since they still want to hit the lower tier of the economy market.

I'm glad I opted for my 2018 Elantra over the 2019. The 2017-2018 looks classy, like it was designed to appeal to mature adults, while the 2019-2020 looks like it's trying to appeal to a younger demographic with its Pokemon face and checkered flag gauges. Tacky.

Front end looks absolutely terrible. Whats the point of CVT if its trying to simulate the regular automatic?? And one more thing that manufacturer wont tell you. The power your engine have and power that translates through CVT to the wheels is ridiculous. Its loosing like 40% of power (so you have 88hp on the wheels)!!!! For example Toyota's Aisin 6 speed auto lose like 25% and VW DSG like 10%. + This noise of CVT when engine is reving but not much progress is done... With that said if you are living in the big city, you want your ass to move from point A to point B while you singing the Christmas songs and have good MPG you should be alright but driving experience/pleasure will be not as good.

Decent for a first car, but everything feels cheap, and anything other than sport mode and this thing can't get out of its own way... Gets good gas mileage, and the tech is nice, don't think they will last very long though. The rental I had was making some strange noises after driving it almost a week.
