I see this and the Telluride all over the place now. I really do love the look of both of these. As a single guy with no kids I'm not glthe target demo but I gotta give them credit. If I was looking at buying a 3 row crossover this would be at the top of the list

Hyundai needs to crack down on their dealers if they are pulling that nonsense, they spent decades trying to change the perception of their brand and doing stuff like that will drive people away.

Nice review, thank you! I've done tons of research into the Palisade, likely my next purchase. I've seen dealer markups of between $2K to $5K. I think I'll wait a while to see if those numbers come down.

Is that really so? Wow, we Americans are too spoiled and getting this on Hyundai lots by the dozen. I wish we had the diesel engine option here in the States.

thats not the whole story. its cuz of pathetic labor union. they thought producing palisade in 4th Ulsan motor factoroy alone would be enough but it got popular than they expected. so they try to produce it on other factory but 4th motor factory labors opposed cuz they'd lose salary since they were getting fat $$ cuz of all those overtime.

We bought the Limited about a month ago at MSRP and love it. The fit and finish and laundry list of features compares to the luxury SUV segment for much less. The Heads Up display, Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keeping, the well done Infotainment unit, space, comfort, self-adjusting rear suspension and smooth ride make long trips so much nicer. Very well thought out and definitely best in class in our opinion. Well done Hyundai.

We purchased one for wifey back in October. We went with the level just below the top version which in 🇨🇦 is the luxury trim. Though I cringe at how expensive new vehicles are priced at nowadays, we found that the Palisade is a lot of bang for the buck. Comparisons were made to Telluride Pilot, Atlas. Unfortunately the Highlander was not at the dealerships at this time. We are aged 54 and 39, with a combined income of 200 K. We have 5 yr old twins. Our other vehicle is a Audi A6 competition. The ride is very comfortable and quiet.( have a bit of wind noise on front passenger door that a fix for it has been ordered) lots of tech, that is not difficult to get used to. Canadian winter was not an issue with this vehicle. Our second consideration was the Kia Telluride, but both of us preferred the look of the Palisade. Dealership sales experience was good, as well as the service department. It’s hard to beat the warranty that Hyundai offers. The one negative may be resale at 5 yrs time, but considering the competitive pricing, it may balance out from other competitors. With 9 months of ownership now, I would rate this vehicle a 8/10. BTW, I subscribed.

I have had my Palisade for about 6 weeks and I really love it. I have downsized from the Yukon, I have had three. It is very roomy and rides very smoothly. My only complaint is that it does not come with XM radio (at least not in the middle level model ) but it does have Android Auto and Apple Play so all you have to do is plug in your phone.

Good job highlighting the differences between the Palisade and Telluride. This is the best color combination I’ve seen on the Palisade. I chose the KIA over a premium brand, because paying twice as much for a car that will also likely be in the shop twice as often makes no sense to me. Yes, some of those badge snobs look at my wife and I sideways, Though most of them are also in debt and can’t pay cash for their cars.

I'm with u tom that they don't compete with the lux brands though everybody is trying to make them compete but they are the best in there class I would say that. I like the Telluride the best between these two good job as usual👍

My next vehicle will likely be a 3 row utility (I'll still have an old van when its' required). I find the Telluride, Pallisade and Atlas to be the most compelling options. The Explorer when optioned similarly is a good bit more expensive (the interior design isn't for me and I love the Aviator). The CX-9 Signature is quite nice but has less interior space (even though longer) and is missing a few features but is a tad cheaper. For those looking at top trims of the Telluride (SX with prestige and towing) and the Palisade (Limited) here is what is different between them: Palisade - LCD instrument cluster, shift paddles, button shifter, and power-fold 3rd row. Telluride - Ratcheting second row armrests, fog lights, and standard shift lever. Some color differences as well, Telluride does not offer a red or blue in the top trim but has an interesting gray-green. Telluride offers a nice brown leather on the SX. Palisade has more exterior colors for the Limited but only the standard beige and black interior. Tellride gets sporty black wheels and Palisade standard silver painted.

I feel bad for the other manufacturers trying to sell against the Palisade and Telluride. Design, value, warranty, useable third row, and user-friendly infotainment. Very hard to beat. And arguably a better choice than Cadillac or Lincoln and some others. Active suspensions and "intangible details" are just not worth $20K more.

Tom. Thank you. Finally someone said it. These are nice SUVs but they are NOT the XT6 or Aviator. The materials in the interior are not nearly as expensive looking or feeling. I’m sick of reading comments where ppl say “tHe CaDdY cOsTs 12 GrAnD mOrE aNd IsN’t AnY nIcEr” thats just such a stupid statement one had the materials of a luxury car the other is nice for what it is which is mainstream relatively affordable family haulers that compete with the likes of ford and Chevy. These are NOT Lincoln and Cadillac competitors not even close
@bassandtrebleclef
@bassandtrebleclef 5 лет назад
H/K look the best in this segment, especially with the interior. The Atlas is good, but this is clearly better. The rest seem to be 2nd tier players, and the step up, lux brands just don't offer enough premium to justify the price increase over this. One car nut's opinion.

Another great review although the third row tiebreaker only points in the Palisades favor if you don't mind waiting on the slowest folding powered seats I think I've ever seen. You might manually lower and raise the Telluride's 3rd row twice before the Palisade's seats complete their tedious performance.
@stephenhendricks103
@stephenhendricks103 5 лет назад
My thoughts exactly. It's also worth noting that the space taken up by the motors and "plumbing" for the automated third row impinges on cargo space behind the third row. The Telluride provides 21 cubic ft, near the top of the class. The Palisade offers 18 cubic ft, ranking mid-pack along with the Pilot and Ascent. I doubt that's enough to enable another pack of Costco toilet paper to the stowed but in six or seven passenger vehicle every bit of cargo space for trips is valuable for cramming in gear and luggage.
@ivanlowjones
@ivanlowjones 5 лет назад
@@stephenhendricks103 I think I'd be Team Telluride if I personally had to make a purchase choice but the top trim Palisade is an excellent family hauler.
@stephenhendricks103

@@ivanlowjones No question about that. Each vehicle more or less tops the category in terms of value.

I like the Palisade 👌I think it looks pretty good I would get one and that's saying something as I usually pick cars over suv's. People really need to start opening their eyes pay attention and consider Hyundai and Kia. They're longer the poor mans unreliable cheap boring vehicles that people just can't seem to let go of. They offer plenty of standard features that's usually optional on the competition, quality materials, nicely done interiors pretty darn good value and let's not forget one of the better warranties in the industry.

Of all the 3 row CUVs out there, this and the Kia Telluride are likely on the top of my list if I we're in the market for a 3 row CUV (Which I won't be). As someone who is not very fond of CUVs, I'm still don't get why consumers are obsessed with 3 row CUVs because most of them suck. Their 3rd rows are almost completely unusable unless you're a garden doll, and when you flip all 3 rows of seats up, it totally messes up your rear cargo space. But thankfully Telluride and Palisade aren't one of those, they have reasonable third rows for normal adults while still having useable space behind the 3rd row for cargo. But still.. if you're serious about carrying people and cargo, just buy a minivan like the Chrysler Pacifica as it has a third row where are normal adults can legitimately fit in comfortablely while offering significantly more space for cargo behind the 3rd row.

Tom captures the difference between the Palisade and Telluride perfectly in his comment about hikers in the Telluride and spa customers in the Palisade. It's worth noting that that difference stems in large part from the different national markets to which each is aimed. The Telluride is an exclusively North American vehicle built in Georgia and meant to be cross-shopped with mainstream three row midsize crossovers. (e.g. Pilot, Explorer, Highlander, Ascent, CX-9, etc). At least equally or better equipped with a moderate price advantage. The Telliuride is not even offered in other international markets in Asia and Europe. (Not even in Korea.) On the other hand, though the Palisade is also meant to be a North American success, its broader mission is in other international markets in Asia and Europe where vehicles the size of the Palisade are almost exclusively from European luxury brands. Especially in Asia where the middle class is still growing owning what consumers there consider to be a large SUV is emblematic of economic success. The near luxury vibe of the Palisade is especially appealing. A vehicle aimed at camping and hiking, much less so. Tom is correct, I think, that in the US the Palisade may divert some sales from luxury SUV's but the line between the Hyundai and luxury brands is still an important one in North America. More important is the appeal of both the Telluride and the Palisade to mainstream buyers. But in markets where what Americans consider mainstream three row midsize SUV's are relatively rare, the Palisade is meant both to capture sales from luxury brands and to expand the market. The Hyundai/KIA conglomerate is especially skilled at badge engineering, offering similar vehicles with shared platforms and components to slightly different market sub-segments. The Palisade and the Telluride are the most recent and obvious examples.
