2020 Indian Challenger 30,000 Mile Review: Final Thoughts

Hey all! I don't know if anyone's ever filmed a Challenger review from the back of an FTR, so maybe today is a YT first! Obviously, if you follow me on instagram or check out the channel's community page, you know there's been a big change. I wanted to be sure to share my final thoughts on my (former) 2020 Indian Challenger Limited, explain why I made this change, and give you some Indian Motorcycle food for thought.
As usual, can't say how frequently new videos will be forthcoming. As I mentioned in the video, moving to an FTR didn't really have much to do with filming videos, and the wind noise in this one underscores that it's probably not the best option on that front. But, I'll get videos out from time to time, and I absolutely appreciate all of you who have stuck with me as my production has narrowed to mostly a trickle. Hopefully, I'll get back to more regular uploads at some point in the future!
You all stay safe out there!

Congrats on the FTR! I’m a bagger guy and will stick with my Chieftain for a long time. I’ve had good service so far at two different Indian dealers. But agree on the multi places. I also had great service at most but not all HD dealers. Nothing wrong with loving your fur-baby. I’m A dog person with 3 right now but we’ve had cats and they were part of the family. Good video buddy!

Thanks! I know after 650 miles I’m absolutely, irreversibly a bagger guy! I miss bags so much already, even if I’m undecided on a fairing! Just a temporary toy as I figure it all out and take care of my girl! Fur babies are the best! ✌️

MAN!! That Indian looks good on you!! I can hear the wind noise through your microphone!! Thats one thing I cant do now is have the wind noise sounding like I-90 running between my ears...haver fun on the new Indian!!

Haha yeah, I doubt there’s not much I’ll be able to do about wind noise on a bike like this! Now I know why motovloggers on sport bikes only talk at stops! 🤣

Your audio sounds fine, nothing to worry about there. Not seeing you on the Challenger was quite a shock but sometimes you just have to try something different. I'm sure that I'll ride mine right into the ground like my last bike. Your videos on the Challenger were very informative for me to get my Pursuit setup so that I could put more miles on with less wear and tear on my body. Have a great time on the new bike and I'll keep watching to see what happens next.

Thanks, absolutely appreciated! One thing I’ve learned about motorcycles in my limited experience is it’s not too hard to hop from one to another, and I’m having fun with that part too. But pretty sure this one will be a limited deal. My butt hurts! 🤣

I'm lucky when it comes to my dealer where I get my service done. New Orleans is an Indian and Slingshot dealer only and I've only seen 1 Slingshot on my visits. That belt must be a thing that takes a special tech. Had to take mine in twice after a tire warranty issue. My dealer lost the only tech they had and got 3 new ones between my last two visits. Now getting an appointment is so much easier, usually about 2-3 days. I don't know much about the new bike you're riding but a hurt butt is a hard thing to deal with. I'm pretty sure that thing would have me in traction after a couple of hours. Upright with no backrest is just not a position I can handle anymore. I've ridden cruisers for over 40 years and wish now that I'd have made the switch to a bagger long before now. Go with what makes you feel good. P.S. While I don't have any pets now, I've always been a cat guy too. Meow to the kitty.

@@dennismims2999 Haha thanks - I’ll let her know! My understanding is the carbon fiber belts need a special tool to get them right. The multi-brand dealerships don’t want to buy an expensive tool just for Indian bikes yada yada, and that’s what was happening. Could be wrong, but that’s my understanding/guess from what dealers told me (they never like to throw others under the bus)! FTR will do for now - maybe it will grow on me and I will suddenly become content with 1 or 2 hour rides. 🤷‍♂️🤣

Hope to see you around the DMV! I recently put KST KUSTOM bars on my Pursuit Elite after watching your video about bars on your Challenger. Thanks for sharing.

That’s great! How do you like them so far? You’ll see me around - can’t make it anywhere else on this little FTR! 🤣

@@DMVSoloRider I love the new bars! I went with the Lakota Handlebars. They give the bike a whole new feel

I get it. My wife and I envisioned traveling when I retired, but we’ve got three dogs (one being 15 years old) and a two year old. Love that FTR. Still, I sure like the convenience of bags on my Pursuit.

As much as I love riding, family always comes first. 👍 The FTR is a fun little bike, but yeah - totally different experience. I did find a nice little man bag to strap to the tail, so I’m managing. 🤣 I totally miss that badass sissy bar though!!!

Will keep an eye out for FTRs in the DMV as I pop in and out of DC now! Also as someone who went out to Yellowstone two years ago and hit a bunch of stops along the way I couldn't agree more that seeing National Parks on a bike is the way to go! Enjoy the new bike!

I have 4 cats and 3 dogs......every single one of them has me whipped lol. As I told you before I am in the same boat. I bought the Chieftain as I had plans to travel down to the USA and across Canada, but right now that is not realistic. So now I am looking at trading it on something that is great for commuting and keeping up with my son. haha

Hahaha! I’m her servant for sure! 🤣 Check out that MT-09 SP! The great thing with bikes is it’s pretty easy to get in/out of them. My bagger days are on pause, but they will return! I might be 70 and on a trike, but 🤷‍♂️🤣

My family just got a cat. Lol. Should 100% get a windshield though. It’ll make a huge difference

Cats are awesome - enjoy! I might get a windshield, we’ll see. I just know as soon as I do I’ll have to deal with some helmet buffeting, and that sucks! But yeah - the wind noise was pretty awful! 🤣

Selling bike because of the Cat "that's a new one" not had a chance to ride an FTR will you be doing a review ?
@DMVSoloRider
@DMVSoloRider 10 месяцев назад
She’s a great cat! 🤣 Like I said, in the absence of any meaningful touring I figured I might as well try something new! I’ll definitely share my thoughts in a review - just want to make sure I know what I’m talking about, and that requires good mileage and a variety of riding conditions!

Nope. It was kinda banged up from being dropped a time or 3. 🤣 and when it got loose the bar rocked/rattled on the mounts and chipped a bunch of chrome off. 🤷‍♂️

Dude. I'm sad you don't have the Challenger any more, but it's awesome you're a cat guy. We have 6 and they all have me wrapped around their toe beans. Anyone who thumbs you down for loving your cat isn't worth the lint in my belly button.

💥💥💥 I was interested in the 30k Challenger review but you talked about everything else. 10 minutes in I stopped the video. Little more focus.

lol I have two other Challenger reviews on my channel, including a 1 hour long in-depth video with chapters. This was a final thoughts/why I got rid of it video, and there’s nothing lacking in focus about it.
