Seems to be about a $1300 price difference between the 570 & the 580 (2022). That's a lot for just power steering & a seat upgrade, so there might be upgrades in the frame and wheel assemblies, dunno. Anyway, 54" of deck will make this much less nimble in my obstacle-laden 3 acres.
Bingo. I located a dealer who was willing to remove a 48" deck from another machine and play it on the 590 for me. Apparently, there weren't any 590's in the region with a 48" deck. So, I bought the 590 with the 48" deck which gives me the best option: the most power with a deck small enough to get around the obstacles on our property. These 500 series machines are very nice little tractors!
Traded my x530 (after 11 yrs) for an x580 two years ago because I wanted a new unit. The x580 is basically the same tractor as the x530 with some upgrades. Use it for lawn/yard maintenance in warm weather including dragging logs out and for snow blowing in winter. I do my own maintenance and have had no major issues with either machine. Recommend!!
I was looking at the X390 as well, but ended up going for an X580 for something a little more heavy duty and with a somewhat better ride for my hilly yard. My parents (both in their 70s) use an X370 (42" deck) to cut a 3+ acre community cemetery (no hills) every week during the growing season. The mower is 3-4 years old now, and although they are up to $4,999 new now, man it drives so nicely with the power steering. I've driven two earlier John Deere 300 series mowers and this one blew them all away. It's a tad faster than your usual 5.5 MPH lawn tractor as well. I don't know what you're cutting, but if you can go a bit higher with your price range, the X370 would be a good choice.
Make sure that the unit faces into the wind going down the road on your trailer. The hood is expensive to replace after the wind rips it off the machine when loaded facing backwards.
@@stuntcardriver I was on a dealer site to "build one" and it only offered the 54". The reason I ask is because I've heard of issues with the 570's front axel assemblies, basically a 300 series assembly. The 580 and up have beefier assemblies.
@@stuntcardriver Maybe, never thought of that. I think I'll call around to talk to the dealers and find out. $7000 is about my budget limit and that just makes a 570 ($6919), otherwise it's a 390 (also $6919).
@@stuntcardriver I'm checking the dealerships. 48" is enough for me (the 54" is a bit heavier and harder to remove for maintenance.) Hopefully, it'll make the machine a bit more affordable, too. Odd that the dealer sites won't let me 'build' one without the 54" deck.
Damn straight. My x300 tranny is cooked from 500 hours on my 3 acres. I underestimated how hilly place really is. My 570 is scheduled to arrive in two weeks.
This is my favorite mower by deere. I have a buddy that owns one and uses it to mow commercially. He has to mow a lot of ditches and hills and this does a great job with those tires and locking differential. He has tried zero turns and they don't work well in those conditions. Nice machine 🚜👌👍
@@stuntcardriver the x370 also has hydraulics, steering and deck lift, but the k57 trans and only comes with the 42” deck. It will also run a snowblower same as the 500 series.
