2020 Kia Stinger GT2 Stillen GT400 Package Review - Start Up, Revs, Walk Around and Test Drive 

Just drove my Stinger GT2 AWD from central Florida to central NY a few days ago. Had a 2 door BMW pull up for a couple quick pulls, we were already doing 80 because hello it's a pandemic and everyone is on lock down so the roads were pretty much empty. First pull I wasn't in sport and didn't hit the throttle in time so he pulled on me, I put it into sport on the 2nd pull I started walking away. He looked very disappointed. I'll say this though, driving this car for 17 hours straight on nearly empty roads was a pure joy. I had to get gas 4 times, the tanks on these are not very large. Oh yeah, JB4, intake, downpipes, exhaust and some other goodies. Probably around 440 HP conservatively, could be more. There are people with larger turbos and meth getting over 600HP out of these engines. The headlights on the GT2 at night, OMG I would roll up to someone who had terrible headlights and then flip my high beams on next to them and just illuminate the road for miles. It's like their lights weren't even on. I don't condone reckless driving and don't race people, it's irresponsible and super fun. I felt like I had to do it in case the virus takes me out soon. Stay safe, wear masks and all that crap. Maybe go for a spirited drive in your fun car but stay away from people!

My favorite part here, "Really give the Germans a run for their money." The comedy here is the irony in that this car basically is a German car. Here is why: You have Peter Schreyer who was the lead designer of the infamous Audi TT. He took Audi from being a basic luxury upgraded Volkswagen and made the cars look faster than they were. Kia, lucky to have him on their side, asked Peter to design the Stinger. Man, did he ever deliver too! ON TOP OF THAT, Albert Biermann who was the head of BMW's M Division R&D now is the Kia/Hyundai R&D lead engineer. He was responsible for pioneering the Built-in-house transmission. Kia built a very solid engine with forged internals and its transmission in order to cut costs by not having to outsource from other companies to build their transmission. People can talk shit all day long on this car but at the end of the day, it is going to last longer than any of the cars it competes with because all of the brilliant minds that came together to make this car. You know why Kia STILL TO THIS DAY offers 100K mile powertrain warranties? It's not because they are not good cars, its actually because of the exact opposite. Kia has faith in their vehicles lasting and if they don't, you're covered...what is not to love about that?

fantastic review. you are the only car reviewer on RU-vid, to my knowledge, who has astutely pointed out that Audi does not offer a flat bottom steering wheel if you want the heating function. it's lame AF. well done mentioning that. with the 10-year warranty offered by Kia, the Stinger really is the best bang for your buck option out right now. no other vehicle offers all the features the GT2 has under $55k.

You can get a base Stinger GT for around 32k as well. 365 hp and 376lb ft of torque and practicality! Can’t beat that.

I got the base GT with AWD. It's a fantastic car with almost no real flaws. The only thing I'd change is make the electric steering wheel standard so it could get out of the way and make it easier to get out of... and they should redesign the rear seats to allow for some space to tuck passenger feet under them in the back. Otherwise it's well neigh perfect.

Add K&N Typhoon Intakes, RAM Air, and better catback exhaust. It's all you need to break 400 horses.

Goodbye Audi, Mercedes and BMW. Sick and tired of their overpriced cars and unreasonable maintenance costs. Switching to the AWD GT2 Stinger.

A tune and intakes gets you 450+hp and 500+ tq. Where I have my GTII... the car is running laps around the competitors... its fun to say the least :)

Excellent review. We don't have the AWD here is Australia, which is a shame as I loved my WRX and Liberty B4 from Subaru. I did pick up my GT Nightsky edition last week. The Nightsky edition has a light grey interior and a bimodal exhaust which makes the car sound better. The car is only available in 3 colours, that brilliant WRX blue, a dark blue and black. Mine is black with the light grey interior. This is an insanely great car. I am not sure what other car in Australia can match it for standard equipment, build quality and price for the performance this car has. I have had some fantastic cars in the past but this is my favourite so far. I can't wait for this curse to be over so I can do a decent country drive. Enjoy your cars whomever has one and hope your country gets over this virus soon. Stay safe.

I am getting mine in exactly the same design you are show casing today. By far the best bang for a buck$.

a JB4 piggyback full plug n play tune for $600 and you're at 425 WHP (much better than 400 base horsepower). You can do that on a base model GT if you're just worried about speed and power.

Thanks for posting a review on the Kia Stinger GT this car is on my list of maybe to buy now, it seems really great for the price it's being offered at.

Good review, I subscribed. Didn't know about that performance package as you are the first person that I've heard talk about it.

I own this same color and version GT2 minus the Stiller mods. It’s fast enough without the modifications, though I’ve considered those modifications. That price tag is very high. Minus those modifications I paid under 50K. Did the dealership make those modifications and selling them with modifications? If this didn’t have a KIA a badge it would sell higher volume. The hatch trunk is very large and makes it practical for my Costco runs. It beats Porsche Panamera and Mustang GT 450 in the quarter mile.

has the noises quality control improved? i have been told that in earlier models a lot poor quality knobs and controls, also much noise sounds throughout the interior........rattles and squeaks.......

That car is no where near 4.1 seconds 0-60 mph. The minor changes don’t make as big a difference as you think they do.
