We review the brand new Mazda CX-30 AWD hatchback CUV in a video that focuses on more than just the basics. If you want to learn about the details, good and bad, we talk about the base and loaded trim. While other products like the Nissan Rogue, Hyundai Kona, Toyota CHR and Honda HRV are the popular models, the new Mazda makes a strong case to ignore most of the competition

I've watched most of your reviews from the beginning and you've just continued to get better at capturing the essence of each vehicle. I leave your videos with a strong sense of what a vehicle is and isn't, why it exists, and what makes it special (if it is indeed special). Every time I see one of these cars/trucks/CUVs on the road, it feels like the end of a narrative arc you've started with your review, and much of it comes flooding back. I value different things in automobiles now than I used to because of your work. Mostly though, I come for the latent homoeroticism. And the dildo jokes.

i'm going to have to second this - your photography and shot choice is also so well done. The slow pans, the cuts (without overdoing it) excellent. My only criticism, as a viewer and fan is the musicality, sometimes things come out of left field. I could take it or leave it, but overall tend to like the more atmospheric scores you use vs the really vibrant/energetic tracks. Great stuff, I legit actively await your next vids.

Current HR-V owner here. We purchased ours when the only real competitors were the XV CrossTrek, the Juke, the Countryman, the X1, the Encore, and the Trax. It was the best bang for our buck, but more contemporary competitors have far, far outpaced the HR-V now. This looks like an entire class above the HR-V and indeed most of the competition. We're satisfied with our little Honda, but if we ever decide to upgrade or replace it, this is going to be the replacement!

I drove the CX30 today and I thought it was awesome. I am 6'1 and felt great in the bucket seat with ample head room. The back seat is cramped for tall adults, but that just means that you don't have to take your car if you are going somewhere with more than one tall adult. The Bose sound system is righteous with 12 speakers. It has more than enough power for me with excellent acceleration to get on the freeway. I'm buying one tomorrow.

uh, you realize those plastic panels are literally held on to the side of the vehicle using metal clips, right? So they have to punch holes in the bodyside panels, and then seat metal clips into said bodyside panels. It looks like garbage, and it actually promotes rust since rain, salt, and dirt get trapped between the plastic and the bodyside. I'd have bought this car if it wasn't for those obscene plastic bits. In an era full of fashion victims and nonsense influencers, your reviews revive the good old fashioned auto-journalism i grew up with during the 90's. Thanks for sharing your love for automobiles, giving us every single detail for the products you review (i haven't seen any other reviewer talking about issues with the cylinder deactivation mechanisms some manufacturers have) and speaking out your subjective opinion in the most concise and objective way possible. I'm eagerly waiting for your next review, just like i was waiting the next issue of my favourite magazine when in was a teenager. Thanks

Awesome video as always. That drone footage in particular was so well shot. I feel like such an american saying this, but I never would have thought the CX-5 was "big" enough to warrant an in-betweener. Sign of the times I guess.

This time, the intro music made it look like a beginning of a mystery movie... CX-30 seems to be the Goldilocks choice when it comes to the choices of this type of vehicle... It's the just right size... I'm sure there will be some people who'd look into this vehicle... Empty nesters, perhaps? They would have an occasional passenger in the back but, for the most part, it would be him and her going somewhere and the space in the back is ample enough for all their stuff... We'll see if there will be a lot of buyers of this model... Well done!..

This video was definitely helpful. I have this on my radar i'm so in love with this cuv. Think i'm gonna see what the 2021 model will bring. Hopefully usb connectivity for the rear and little less cladding. Everything else as far as i'm concerned is good. Was torn between the Kia Seltos and the CX 30. I've been binge watching the videos and still leaning towards the Mazda. What impresses me so is that everyone says how quiet the cabin ride is and that is awesome to me. I have an older Kia and they are definitely not quiet nor has a good ride. Thanks for a candid video

I recently leased a 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD, and am really enjoying it. This CX-30 definitely appeals to me as the CX-3 was too small and the 3 hatch did feel a bit cramped and dark inside. I think it looks great on the screen, body cladding and all, but will reserve judgement til I see it in person. Great video! PS I did consider ground clearance on my CX-5, but that's only because I have a steep driveway into the garage ;)

This was an awesome review. I am interested in this cuv and have watched other channels review this car ( redline, and your boys the straight pipes) and they have blown this car off. Like if you don’t like it still give some effort and give a good review. But I guess you know what your getting into when you watch. I like how you review for the everyday guy. Like the child seat reference and fitting that huge suitcase in the back is what people want to know about when they select a car, along with mechanical changes and what trim level you should get to avoid certain features. Awesome video again and please keep doing what you do.
