2020 MV Agusta Super Veloce 800 Review

It's not since the original F4 that we've seen an MV as gorgeous as the MV Agusta Superveloce. Inspired by grand prix racers from MV's past, the Superveloce takes that classic lineage and reimagines it for modern times - all while using the F3 800 as its underpinnings. But does it work? Road Test Editor Troy Siahaan finds out.

I bought it 3 months ago. Amazing motorbike! The sound is unique, the power is more than enough, the electronics are ok, it turns like no other! Only con is that i am 6ft tall and it's bit small to ride on. Other than that its the most amazing motorcycle i ve ever bought and i have owned plenty of them. I dont know how's the dealership situation in other places. Where i live in Athens Greece the mv dealer offers great service. I tuned the suspension to my weight. That improved a lot the bikes driving experience.

I saw one during a trackday on Alcarras last october. Sounded beautifull going down the straight. It might not have quite the performance or comfort but I think is more like a unique collectable than an out and out sportsbike. What is the closest competitor? I would say for instance a Triumph Thruxton RS. Very different but also the same in a way. Good for a sporty ride on sunday and it stands out from other bikes. The MV is probably more rare tho and fasther too.
@kolokolok
@kolokolok 3 года назад
Other than their retro-inspired design, the difference between this and this Thruxton is day and night. This is unbelievably sharp compared to the so-forgiving Thruxton. I had both a Thruxton R and an MV Brutale 800 at the same time (and I’ve ridden almost every MV except for the new Brutale 1000) and the combination was just perfection - Thruxton if I want to ride a motorcycle with a relaxed mind (much more comfortable, relaxed brakes, more than relaxed clutch and longer wheelbase which makes for a more stable ride on the highway coupled with its higher weight), and MV if I want to feel sharp (manual throttle blipping is a nightmare unless you’re on top of your game as the RPM move very quickly, clutch is just as demanding with its pin-sharp biting point, brakes respond the moment you touch them, etc). MV for a 1-2 hours ride max (more than that it overwhelms you) and Thruxton for longer rides. When he says it doesn’t do it for him, remember he’s a top-flight bike guy. The complaints are geared towards one who demands everything from a motorcycle and is benchmarking them against the absolute best. MVs are some of the sharpest bikes on sale - they just run short when it comes to electronics and thats understandable given how costly they are relative to how small the company/sales are.

I own a 2018 Super Duke 1290r and 2019 MV Agusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. I bought the MV over the Ducati Streetfighter V4. Middleweight bikes are the Goldilock bikes. I love V2’s snd Triples for their unique character. Triples are similar to V4’s but much simpler. The MV is the size of a bicycle and feels like 200 pounds. There will always be 1000cc plus halo bikes showing off new tech that will filter down to their other bikes. Super V is awesome but like a upright stance like the Dragster. Love the Kineo aluminum rims on the Dragster. MV is a very unique boutique brand like Ferrari and Lambos. I have owned Ducati’s in the past. MV has a bright future! Great video

There may be some fitment issues from a short inseam that are also affecting the total experience.. Notice even riding with toes on the peg, his thigh angle is a bit low - hence the seat complaints. That could get into different brake & clutch levers perhaps, but if he gets that knee position higher, I suspect that cures some things. Maybe 5mm up/10 or 15mm forward? As a bonus, hanging off could feel better too.

I owned a 2017 F4RR. Too many mechanical and electrical issues. I was expecting a reliable motorcycle but very disappointed. My dealer dropped the MV brand from the show room. Issues I had with the motorcycle: electrical wiring issue which was fully replaced under warranty, oil leak from the crank where the sprocket is (even after dealer servicing it), gas tank deformation due to ethanol content in the US gasoline (replaced under warranty), engine overheating issue even with a better water impeller installed, vibrating mirror that was replaced under warranty, LCD dash that becomes dark & unreadable when the bike is parked under the sunlight for too longer. Issues with dealership: untrained mechanics due to high turnover, careless work (missing screws, missing fasteners, overtorquing causing damage to engine crankcase, missing clips, did not put the fairing back correctly after service), misdiagnosed problems causing even more expensive service. I’ve seen two other customers with Brutale 800 (MY 2017) whose engine was broken and replaced under warranty. The F4 or any MV bikes are motorcycle art for the living room literally. My F4 is the most expensive living room decor there is. I’m still holding onto it for my project bike and learning to service it myself. The F4 is a great motorcycle when it is working but my ownership has been plagued with too many unscheduled visit to the dealer. I will forever never consider buying another MV Agusta again. My Ducati is surprisingly a much more reliable bike from electrical and mechanical perspectives. Aftermarket parts are plentiful. Dealership experience has been very positive so far. Service work has been great also. Sorry MV Agusta, you are extremely beautiful to ride and to look at but I have no patience in dealing with many negative ownership experiences. YMMV.

Maybe I'm a bit old school, but not having an IMU is a big negative.....really? Tech is good as a safety net, but I think for many, they rely too much on tech and not technique. How did we ride before all these amazing techno goodies? 200+ hp superbikes are not something most riders have the skill to pilot, at least without a ton of electronics to keep their lack of skill from spitting them off the thing. What happens when electronics / sensors fail? Having ABS intervene too early is annoying, but it's the flip side to the tech coin. When it's not programed correctly, it's worse than not having it.

Women don’t care about motorcycles. They have no idea what an MV Agusta is, and likely only will like it because of the colors. The only women that do care about motorcycles would hate this bike because they cannot ride on it without needing hip surgery afterwards. You could accomplish the mysterious-motorcycle-man vibe with a Triumph for half the price and have a better all around bike. This bike is for collectors, and like Troy said, people that Love to ride industrial art. So unique vs generic Honda’s, Yamaha’s, Harley’s, and Kawasaki’s. I know you love MV’s with your past video’s.

I'm too old for those piddly-looking headlights; transformer, not bike. Otherwise, I agree; quite nice.. ;-)

....how is this prettier than a new gen R6? It's ugly compared to modern design but still neat looking. Not the most beautiful bike ever..

This bike is so overpriced regarding to the old components it has : old Brembos, brake master cylinder is not Brembo, no öhlins, old ABS unit. MV Agusta makes video advertisements that are degrading for women. Reliability is still to prove because it's known they are randomly reliable. Really a wrong buy 🙄🤦‍♂️ There is way better bikes than this and less expensive.

What a horrible review. First of all you are riding an old model, and then you say you don't get excited about it yet can't even say why (because it's the dollars from Ducati that makes you say that?)? Then you change it to it not being good to ride, based on what??? Then you go even further and say it doesn't have performance??? Based on what??!! It is 100% fact that it DOES have great performance. Pathetic.

@@bloodysinner9456 oh well you’re disappointing. What did you expect? I’d enlighten you like the Dalai Lama? The superveloce is all about looks. The superveloce is thousands of dollars more than the F3 800 with less performance. This is why it’s a poser bike. It’s all about image and not about the riding experience.

The Panigale V2 is a much better looking bike. And just a better bike overall, also costs less
