In 3 years of off-roading our 2017 Raptor we made a lot of mistakes and suffered a lot of damage. As we look at planning the 2020 Raptor built we want to apply those lessons learned into the new build. So check out the video as we go over the current plans for the Raptor. Lots of lessons learned so bear with us and check out to the end. We address a lot of your questions here.

I reccomend "real" KO2s for tires. The ones that come with the truck, and tires that come with every new vehicle for that matter, are not designed by the tire manufacturers. They are designed by the vehicle manufacturer and come WAY too soft for the tread compound. My first set last 19k miles. Give them another chance if your only experience with bfg is the OEM tires.

Have you taken a look at the KHC Raptor Torque Arm? I just had mine installed and it's a fantastic piece of gear especially with the rear diff skid plate included. It really locks the rear end down without interfering at all with ground clearance or articulation. No more wheel hop and hwen you step on it there is less delay in power to wheels by reducing the rear axle twist.

Check out the Falken Wildpeak ATs or MTs. They have a great warranty, perform exceptionally well in Rain and Snow. Most importantly, they are great for off roading. However, these are on my Jeep and I've never done any kind of Baja high speed driving.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
I've heard good things about the Wildpeak AT's. From other Raptor guys. But yeah a big truck compared to a Jeep or even a Taco impact the performance of the tires big time. A lot of jeep and taco guys swear by the KO2's but they weight 1200 lbs or More less than a truck and will never hit the speeds we do in the Raptors offroad.

Sounds great man. I’ve heard of some downsides to those chamber locks, but I can’t seem to remember what that was. Will let you know if I find that. I have Toyo Open Country RTs, great on and off road. I’ve also heard General Grabber X3s are great, plus the colored lettering adds another look to the truck. Built right stuff is great, I have all of it. I bent one rack because I strapped my heavy 3ton pro eagle jack to it. Don’t do that. :) Matt was nice enough to replace it for me! GearHeads have the best tune so far, I have heard people disappointed with most others but not this one. It handles transmission, any octane gas, etc. then I added their larger Turbos, I theoretically have around 700 hp with that, the tune, intercooler, intake, down pipes, etc. Still working on what to do with the bed, have a bakflip mx4 to keep things secure daily. But that limits the options for tire storage in there. Right now just one tire strapped down with the Britton Bravery fab tire rack. Need something like Krazy House Customs modular rack that can change from one tire under cover flat, to two tires upright for big off roads trips. Look forward to future videos.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
Aaron Massey definitely let me know on the drawbacks. I ran my locks for 3 years and only had to do realignment after I lawndarted the truck. For off-road they are great.

I'm running a set of Raceline beadlocks on my Wagon with 37x13.5. They are 0 offset with 5" backspace. They work fine for my truck. The only downside was the wait time. Ive got a black power wagon so stripping is just a way of life. Lucky with the black i can put a gloss glaze and cover most of them up. I lucked into wraping the truck with Xpel but for the truck it almost would of been 11 grand.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад

That's a lot of plans $$$$$, cant wait to see it all come together. You should look at getting the Innov8 wheels. Those are potentially in my list for this year. What about adding a diff skid plate? I just added the Foutz Motorsports diff skid and really like how beefy it is.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
Ryan Nolan I know man. Going broke building this truck. Innov8 wheels are a dream lost item for the truck. But at a few grand just for the wheels it’s a pipe dream and way too expensive. As for the diff, in 3 years of off-roading i barely suffered any damage to the rear diff. My biggest problem back there was sand blasting. Eventually I would do a skid plate back there, but not before replacing all the other skid plates first

So you 1st had mentioned the caster camber kit. A must have on the raptor. But then you mentioned the krazy house reinforcement slot eliminator kit. An even better must have item. Wonder if the Krazy house set up could be set up with the slot to use with a caster / camber so you don't have to replace the upper arm. Not sure if that is a good idea or not. Another thing on the Krazy house, I believe you wont be able to reuse the stock skid plate. Forged offroad has a set up that might be worth looking at. Just a thought brother. Gonna be a great build......

David Jordan going to be a bit before I’m ready for the bolt kit, so I’m the mean time I’ll do the cam locks. Right before the bolt kit I’ll do the KHC slot delete reinforcement. At that point adjustment with be with the upper control arms which is better. At for the skid plate, yeah I’m aware and was planning on just drilling and adding some bolts or hopefully have enough for a new bumper by then

Im looking to do geiser springs with deaver +3 and new front bumper to put 37's on. you think the springs and deavers +3 make the truck leveled? eventually ill do full on mid travel suspension
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
Dante Di Ciolli Emory yes, but any weight in the back. No. The Geiser springs wont settle past the 2.5in lift. But Deavers or even icon will settle and sag with weight in the back. Deavers +3 is just 1in over stock and if you carry any gear in the back you may need 2 or even 3 over stock. As for 37s I have a whole video on that. Even with trimming and bending pinch welds you will see major rubbing. And potentially rip off your fenders offroad. Check out my video here: How to fit 37's on a Raptor ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GCuqQMVpAhw.html

Andy Brooks I have but there is not much info into the benefits of it. Aside from collecting oil. You hear about even on both sides. Hason Lavajunk very little feedback available online on the bolt kits. Why wouldn’t you do the RPG kit again? Would love to hear some real world feedback on it.
@hasonlavajunk9774
@hasonlavajunk9774 4 года назад
There is nothing wrong with RPG Bolt kit. It’s been a decent kit for utilizing factory length coilover/bypass. It widened the track another 6” which is not a big deal if you can handle the TT width around town. I also have the RST 18 kit like yours, but +3 Deavers and 3.5 Fox. If I did it again, why not utilize a kit branded from a legit race company (Camburg) that pushes arms forward 1” so there no rubbing the inner fender well with 37’s, and only increases track 3” wider vs RPG’s 6”. Plus you get their sweet bump stop kit. Camburg’s kit utilizes your stock spindles unlike RPG’s kit, which are definitely sexy strong, but Camburg may add it to their kit. It looks like you have a good relationship with RPG, so that’s a tough decision. RPG’s kit is definitely old tech long travel though and you have a high tech Raptor.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
@@hasonlavajunk9774 You bring up some great points because rubbing is still a problem with RPG's kit if your using 37. Do the pinch welds need to be bent with Hamburgs kit? or does the 1 in forward take that into account? But using stock spindles worry me. They need to be reinforced with a LT kit. Shit they need to be reinforced with the stock kit. I've seen too many of them bend.
@hasonlavajunk9774
@hasonlavajunk9774 4 года назад
The 1” forward arms handle the rubbing issue, however it also depends on which 37” tire you choose. Cut/bend the pinch welds is the smart way to do it. That will help tuck in the inner fender liners if you go with Advanced Fiberglass fenders. Inner liners help keep things clean. Fenders are a must or tires will rub on heavy compression. It will also look funny with tires sticking out so far on stock fenders. I don’t work for Camburg, but I’ve used their kits in the past and was impressed. This kit is new but tested. Maybe give them a call and see if their kit will come with spindles in near future. Spindles will probably add another 3”, equaling RPG’s track width.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 года назад
Hason Lavajunk yeah, I’m not so worried about the width. It’s more important to me that it tracks right and the axel angles is not so extreme that the boots keep failing. Thanks for the info. I’m going to look into them.

Ford is committed to the ecoboost platform. They won’t go to a V8. If they were going to do a V8 we would have seen that engine already in the GT. There is also nothing close to a Raptor and I beat up my 17 Raptor for 66k miles and had very little go wrong. My 17 was the most reliable truck I’ve had. Those that have problems with the Raptor usually baby it or let it sit in traffic. I find this engine is happiest going down the trails at high revs.
